Now he's not. He will be one of the lead characters in S.W.O.R.D. but it is not a Beast solo. Gambit actually had several solo series which focused on him, his relationships, past and helped fill in some gaps regarding him we didnt know. Beast isnt getting anything like that

Yep.

Maybe when Bishop gets back from trying to kill Cable he and Gambit can have another go at a buddy-series mini. Their first one was... well, really poorly written.

They can call this one "Characters that we kind of destroyed with bad writing. Our bad!" :woot:

Oh ok sorry for my stupidty to bad i never got gambit's solo series and as far as i know there is no essentiel for it.

There is no essential Gambit, probably because one run was only 25 issues and the other 12. He's not an A-lister like Wolvy. :( But I am fairly certain the back issues can be had at the cheap and some of them should be around in trades. You can try here: www.mycomicshop.com. These guys have a ton of stuff and they are reliable. I've ordered from them before.

:lmao:

EDIT: In all seriousness, I'd totally buy that. It would be about so many characters, though. Pretty much everyone except for Cyclops, Emma and Wolverine.

They can package it with its companion piece -- "characters we killed off for the lamest reasons ever". Like my boy Wild Child. :(

:hehe: Oh my goodness. I think a spoof of the X-Universe would be a really good idea if you could do it without getting sued somehow. It's probably already been done and I'm just not aware of it anyway.

throw Cyclops in that category bc he's been destroyed with bad writing as well.

Really? How? I actually find him much more interesting now than he was before.

I'd say everything Morrison and on is closer to how Cyke should be, then the decade or so before.

he's being written completely out of character

Which, sadly, is really selling right now. People just want DARK DARK DARK characters that make questionable decisions. Preferably with sexual tension with a huge Mary Sue that dresses scantily.

Which, ironically enough, was a role that fit Gambit not so long ago. And yet he's been banished a thousand times over. The things Gambit did weren't even as bad as what Scott and Emma have done in the last two years alone! What's wrong with you, Marvel?

Well said "iamlegend"! It's not only Gambit though. I think a lot of the characters seem a bit out of character right now. I'm more than willing to give X-Nation a chance though. I just feel as if the writers have lost touch a bit. Kinda sad really.

and for me Gambit isnt dark enough anymore. I hate how light a character he's become but hopefully that will change after the relevations in the Legacy Annual

I know!! And I thought he and Rogue had gotten back together. Poor guy.

We shall see. He does get that issue of Legacy to himself soon, which will (hopefully) springboard him into:

A. A good, strong storyline where he's more than an accessory
B. More issues in general (particularly those not penned by Mike Carey)

Like most Gambit fans, I too agree that the character has become way too light. They dialed him down big time so they could play up the darkness of other characters... and never stopped going.

Now the problem is that the writers can't seem to portray him as he should be - he's either light and mushy or just a dumb accessory to a larger plot (like in Messiah Complex... where Marvel wrote him into the plot, but made him seem like a pansy).

At this point, I just don't know what they're going to do anymore. You nailed it earlier, Havok. He has no particular place. He joined the X-Men because he figured it was something he could exploit way back when. Then he stayed cause of Rogue. Then he got thrown out, and came back because Storm (who used to be a good friend before Marvel blew her out of proportion) asked him to. Then he sat around for awhile on the shelf until BOA, MC, etc. etc. And now he doesn't have Rogue, Storm, or ANY friends in the X-Ranks.

He also doesn't really have much association with the New Orleans guilds, and is at least temporarily free from Sinister and Apocalypse, since they're not on the table at the moment. And he hasn't been an active thief in years (and probably doesn't need money, based on revelations from his various solo series).

The man has nothing to live for! No one ever developed a legitimate "redemption" theme for the character (the Morlock Massacre thing was blown out of proportion and forgotten quickly anyway), and they've taken away legitimately everything else, including his spine.

I'm praying that the new storyline does something to save the character, because if not he's doomed to an eventual death that no reader cries over.

I would still cry over him. I was deeply upset over them killing off Wild Child and he'd been barely dusted off out of limbo. When I grab a character as a fave, it's hard for me to let them go. :(

ITA with your entire post. I hope he doesnt die though bc I just started getting into the character. I would hope that Marvel wouldnt be that stupid

I don't think they would go as far to kill him off. That's the kind of the thing Fox would do! But yeah, I see what you mean now. He needs to get out there and do something!! It seems as if he and Rogue have broken up now or at least temporarily (:csad:) and like "iamlegend" said, he hasn't really got any relationships with any of the other X-characters so I guess that would give him an opportunity to do something different. We'll just have to see what happens. Poor guy.

Why must gambit suck i rember when i first saw gambit's episode in x-men the animated series he was so dark and mysterious now he is like iceman during the 60's and now rogue has moved back to magneto.Poor Poor Poor remy.:(

I know. Poor ol' Remy. He didn't deserve that :csad:

I think it would be good if he had his own spin-off again, maybe take some time off the X-Men for a while. It was so great when he used to be all dark and myserious, kinda like Wolverine but now, it's just not the same. I wish Marvel wouldn't do this! It's so depressing. I guess we'll see what happens to him in X-Men Legacy #229 though. It doesn't look as if he'll be appearing in #230 or any of the others. I don't understand why Rogue appears to be hooking up with Magneto. I thought she and Gambit had gotten back together.

I hope it is just hype but i doupt it i loved ROMY.

1. I think it's a red herring... Cover's rarely reflect what's actually going to happen in the issue. I'm sure Carey will have some flirtatious dialogue (even though every writer since the whole clone/Joseph thing has ignored it), but he's not actually going to hook Rogue up with Magnus.

2. Trust me... Remy is better off without Romy. You'll see. Carey's such a over-the-top Rogue fanboy that he'd never be able to write them in a legitimate relationship anyway.
