On imdb.com a review is up by somebody under the user name loufalce. Going by what I saw in his review- I don't think this tool really saw the film. He way too vague about why he gave it one star. Nothing about anything that happened in the movie.

Another {yawn}superhero movie......13 June 2011 | by loufalce (United States) – See all my reviews
It must be summer,so its super hero movie time. Yet another entry in this crowded field that includes Thor , The Green Hornet, and X men {so far} this movie seems to be a recycling of just about every super hero movie cliché of all time. In a nutshell, a test pilot is given super powers so he can protect the galaxy and keep it free from evil doers.Bland and unremarkable in the title role, Ryan Reynolds is more suitable for a show like "Glee" than that of a superhero. The rest of the cast consists of no name actors that too many of these features seem to have. The CGI effects are standard issue and do absolutely nothing to advance the trite, hackneyed story. This film has absolutely nothing going for it to distinguish itself or raise it a notch or two above the mediocrity level. Its just another hard sell product designed to have a brisk opening weekend and cash in on yet another current trend. Only thing is that this is a DC superhero as opposed to a Marvel superhero. Obviously looking for a new franchise to milk to death, the producers of this turkey

better pray that it is a hit. About the best thing that can be said about it is that its not based upon a TV show. Its really a sorry state of affairs when Hollywood can't even come up with a decent idea, take a chance and produce something that adults or intelligent people would want to go see.It will just get lost in the shuffle and take the short cut to DVD. With films like this and the equally terrible "Super 8", it looks like its gonna be a bummer of a summer at the multiplexes. As you have probably guessed by now, this movie ain't worth your time or money. Its just another faceless product by a totally clueless and out of touch Hollywood.

I want this film to succeed, but this movie always did look to be not exactly inspired to me. I always felt it would be good, but not really be anything new and kind of a paint by numbers comic film. The embargo and lukewarm reviews only reinforce that for me.

Dammit. What happened to all those happy, excited and amazed fans and critics who saw the 9 minute trailer?

This makes me sad. :(

I'm with you man. I've been psyched for this film since the get-go. When the Wonder Con footage came out my mind was blown. Then the third trailer was just fraggin' epic! :awesome: I'm not worried about these reviews. I'll be seeing it at midnight, my tickets are reserved, I'm pumped for it. :D

1 out of 10?

lol, this is ridiculous. Cant take this review seriously.

I shall go to sleep, and when I wake up, all will be fine...
Or it'll have all gone to hell.

Fap away the sadness.

I'm only moderately interested in GL to be honest, but the bolded parts in this, along with the fact that he gave it one star makes me wish this person would be very violently assaulted. The exact signs of a complete pompous ******* self-proclaimed "critic", especially prevalent on the internet.
:doh::doh::doh:

I honestly think some of these IMDB reviews are from people who've seen only the trailers for GL and are rating it badly. If you dislike a movie, be clear and specify why. That loufalce sounds like he hasn't seen the movie at all -- it's all vague and broad strokes.

I'm also going to wait for more reviews because I'm not loving these reviews either. I don't agree with his Super 8 hate (It's very flawed but I still liked it) but I'm interested to see what Devin Faraci of Badass Digest thinks as he is my favorite reviewer when he isn't kissing up to Seth Rogen and other nerdy s**t that I don't give a flying f**k about.

Ugh, I can't stand Devin. 4 times out of 5, if he loves a movie then I'm sure to hate it. And vice-vesra.

So I hope he gives GL a bad review.:cwink:

I've never understood what made GL such an outlandish concept compared to everything else. If anything it's probably the easiest concept to grasp and the one with the most cinematic potential.

It's the color spectrum thing, IMO. It's very...Sesame Street.

The 'it's not suppose to be oscar worthy' comment is the single biggest excuse there is in justifying a poor film. There's nothing wrong with having standards, fans should have standards and are within their right to expect 100% effort put into a character/franchise they love.

I agree. Though the saying 'your mileage may vary' needs to be factored in. Different folks will go in having different expectations.

Dark City got mostly good to downright glowing reviews (Roger Ebert was out-of-his-mind in love with it) when it came out. The public just didn't care.

I'm with the public on that one.

Read around and the verdicts are coming in. CHUD.com's forum has some comments about the film and it's not good.

Devin didn't like it. No review but his tweets suggested that he saw it and wasn't won over with it...

Oh man, this could get interesting for WB in the next 12 hours.

Hooray! Then there's solid hope that I will like it then.

Sounds like you're trolling.

It's hard to compare Marvel and DC, because Marvel has produced so many more films. DC's best has been elite, but Marvel has produced a greater number of good films because they've produced a far greater number of films.

It's hard to compare the two, because over the last fifteen years or so, we've really only seen four DC films and what, 20+ Marvel films?

And who's fault is that? DC's been in the big budget superhero movie business at least 20 years longer than Marvel. They were owning the genre when Marvel wasn't even competent enough to get a theatrical release for it's crappy old films. And then suddenly like a whirl-wind, Marvel kicks it into light speed and now DC is playing catch up. So again, I ask....who's to blame? I think WB/DC brought this on themselves with all their lack of faith in their own properties.

IMO, XMFC is pretty overrated. Thor was better, as was X2.

I agree 100%. XMFC was just slapped together at the last minute and it shows. That it didn't end up as a train wreck is a credit to Vaughn's talent, IMO(as well as McAvoy & Fassbender who carry the entire film themselves). But I'd still just say it's passably good and not much more than that. That's not to say that I think Thor or X2 are great movies by any means but they don't feel rushed in the same way. Vaughn's Kick-Ass was far superior an effort, IMO.

will there be critics posting reviews later tonight after midnight, or will they all be tomorrow morning/afternoon?

Hopefully Green Lantern doesn't justify that lack of faith.

One can only hope. I don't want either company having an insane advantage over the other. I want them both in eternal competition and keeping each other(and their movie's quality) on their toes.

I liked FC a little better than I liked Thor, but I had some problems with FC
Thor was good, especially considering that I didnt care about the character before the movie
ANd I actually enjoyed The Green Hornet. It was alot of fun. Wish it would get a sequel

I was suprised that none of those 3 so far did I dislike. I'm not in love with any of them by any means but it's been an above average year(quality-wise and especially considering the # of films) for superhero movies so far.
