Greg Berlanti to direct solo 'Green Lantern' film

I don't see the point of turning him in to Parallax, specially when there's a nod of Parallax possesing Hal in the ending. He can be the Guardians's first attempet to creat a protector for the universe, but i don't like the fear angle. For me, he should just be a giant yellow android they created and that gone rogue and started killing his replacements.

My theory is that the third draft will get rid of the nods to other DC characters, like Superman and Batman, and will establish Green Lantern as the only superhero of the world. I know DC fans are dieing to see a Crossover, but something tells me it's better this way.

I hope they revert Legion back to a android. He can be giant, if that's necessary, but i'm a little worried about him being a creature "Of the size of a whale, with a Shark's grin and a Octopus tentacles".

And i like the "Ring-recharging kiss". It's the final superation moment of the Script. Everyone superhero movies has one, and i doubt they would get rid of GL's one. And i really liked it. It made sense within how the Ring works in the movieverse.

But i agree about Tom getting a Spaceshift. That must be fun, but is unnecessary. I would be glad if they changed Tom back to Ferris Aircraft mechanic, and made him more responsible, like in the Comics.

My biggest hope for the third draft is that they improved the villains. That we're the one of the first draft weakness.

Duuuuuuuuude! Thank you so much for sending me that script! I literally just got done with it I've been reading it ALL morning! My god was it a great read! If this thing gets made it will be my favorite superhero movie of all time.

All the little nods in the script were fantastic, like Hal wielding ten power rings, graying temples, Alan Scott, etc were fantastic! I had a fanboy-gasm through out the whole read.

I got the feeling from the script that legion was (and I could be way wrong) almost an angry construct of Parallax. I don't know why, but I like this angle a lot better than him being a robot. All I can say is Wow! I can't wait for this movie to get made! I'm more excited about the prospects of this film than any other superhero movie forthcoming.

Truly one ring to rule them. :gl:

I'm not a nipticky fan, but i don't see the point of turning Legion in to Parallax when they nod to the Parallax infection in the ending.

But i agree about the nods to the Comic Books, specially Alan Scott's appearance. But i don't think greying Hal's temples is a good idea. They could showcase the infection in a different manner (Maybe his eyes could turn slightly yellow for a second).

I would also like to see the order of the final battles being inverted. First Hammond, then Legion, but that problably is not going to happen, because it would demand a heavy rewrite of the third act.

I sure hope that the WB interprets the GL script leaking as a good thing, as that happened with BB and it worked out extremely well for both Nolan and WB. It gave them good feedback and encouraged them to move forward.

I read part of the script for GL and was extremely pleased, but I want to save the rest of my reading until I (hopefully) see the movie. Don't want to be spoiled all the way before a trailer comes out, let alone casting and principal photography.

Now I wonder who will star in this baby...So you guys say Gosling turned them down did he?

With Iron Man 2, Thor, and possibly Green Lantern all coming in 2010, can we just skip 2009 once Watchman is released?

Oh yeah! The script of which is freaking awesome. Jonah Hex too. 2010 is gonna ROCK!

I don't know if this means anything. Latino Review's very own El Mayimbe:

"heard from my guys that the new GREEN LANTERN draft was turned in recently & the execs flipped for it, hence Horn's comments"

if anyone's willing to pm me the script i would be eternally grateful

I love the scene where practicably every Lantern comes to earth to save the world
They make Superman look useless!

When there is something strange... in your galaxy
Who you gonna call? GREEN LANTERN!

I would get rid of the Superman nod. But keep the Batman nod since he's the only other DC character with movies right now.

Who do you think should play Carol Ferris?
I always liked Parker Posey for Nathan Fillions Hal but sayin' as they're going younger with the casting Jennifer Carpenter, of Dexter fame, would be great...

Batman is the only superhero in his movieverse. But they just mention Gotham City in a TV news program, so, I think that'd Ok.

I wonder if we will ever see the Sinestro Corps in a Live Action Green Lantern movie? Probably in the third movie after Sinestro gets banished to the anti matter universe or something.

You know who else would be cool? Abin Sur's evil son Amon Sur! I love that he hated Hal Jordan for getting his father's ring.

The Sinestro Corps would be very cool, but also very expensive. Besides, without the other DC Comics characters, the story won't be as good as it is in the Comic books.

Amon Sur would also be interesting to see, but only as a secondary villain. He's not interesting enought to be the main villain. Maybe he can team up with Sinestro in the third movie. :woot:

I agree with you about Amon being a secondary villain, Sinestro should always be the main man. Amon Sur is similar to someone like General Grievous or Asajj Ventress. He's the right hand man sort of deal.

I don't know how expensive the Sinestro Corps would be they're just a bunch of aliens who glow with gold light. I've seen tons of aliens in Star Wars movies and SFX should be cheaper by then anyway since technology gets more advanced each movie.

what DC characters do you think are needed to make the SC story work onscreen? All the SC members have enough backstory and evil quirks to be adequate villains. I think we could shave off a few minor DC Characters.

The Sinestro Corps War wouldn't be the same without Antimonitor, Supercyborg, Superboy-Prime and others. If they eventually use the Sinestro Corps, it should be with a new plot.

I think Henshaw is still possible without the Superman emulation. More because I like him better as a cyborg enemy of Green Lantern, than a twisted mirror image of Superman. So making him more in line with the Manhunters maybe instead of Kryptonian tech
