Who knows? Maybe they will change the origin slightly so Abin Sur is responding to whatever threat the Justice League is facing and dies as a result leading to whoever getting the ring. This would alter the blackest night stuff quite a bit but not everything in the movie universe has to be exactly the same as the comics.

I've been spewing red napalm since I heard that WB had screwed up again. :fst::rant::argh:

Or you know, they're just telling the story they want to tell..... Not sure how that's screwing out but oh well :whatever:

I do like the idea of Abin Sur being killed during the film, and then the second half serving as an origin. Still holding out hope for veteran Hal, though.

Which is exactly what I meant by drama. I know this is America and that you want it NOW, but... You can't always get what you want. And not re-creating the books in exactitude is not screwing up or other such characterizations.

There is a context here as again there was a context for not having Wasp and Hank in A1. There, the over long development process for the solo held back adding the characters to the team film. Here, the lackluster response to the last film is likely making the WB brain trust wish to proceed slower with this character.

And again... We are getting a GL and while he may not be in JL1 they said that they may intro him in 2, and the GLs are STILL getting a film.

Look, I sympathize as an adult that has wanted to see GL in live action, interacting with the other DC heroes from back as a kid in the 80's... So we have to wait a little longer, and it won't be exactly like canon? After all this mutha cussing time with all these mutha cussing CBMs, you'd think that would have sunk in to fans by now.

.

The BO performance of the 2011 movie is an invalid excuse. A character as old and iconic as GL isn't defined by that one small portion of his history. Audiences realized that Deadpool was much, much more than the ridiculous reinvention by Fox in X-O, and they showed up en masse when Fox actually decided to translate Deadpool from the comics instead of "Hollywoodizing" him. GL '11's reception was a failure of WB to translate a core Justice League character, but their mistake doesn't alter the character's place in the JL's mythos.

Moreover, I have a lot of reservations about the direction of the DC cinematic universe, starting with the fact that it's happening at least 15 years after it should have debuted. Warner Bumbles should have been the pioneer of group super hero CBMs, and they most certainly should have put out a JL film after Fox gave them the template with 2000's X-men. I'm happy for the success of films like Blade, Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Hellboy, but those films are also indictments of WB's clueless inability to capitalize on comic book translation. When those characters have succeeded before the Justice League, it's a clear indicator that something is wrong. I've always felt that DC comics would have been better off in the hands of a more capable studio and the announcement of an incomplete JL lineup for the upcoming film is just the latest event that confirms my suspicions.

Yeah... That's all the usual over the top fanboy silliness that I can't take seriously man. Sorry.

Oh, I've never hidden from the fact that I'm a hardcore fan (or fanboy, if you will) and a purist.

Agreed.
Just let Hal Jordan exist on screen in the DCEU during BvS and JL1. Just build the back drop of his character in short sequences. Then let him earn the ring in JL2, thus completing the Uniting of the 7. Then by the time GLC rolls around, Hal Jordan's GL has already received his origin story. Let GLC be about John becoming a Lantern and working with Hal in the "buddy-cop" movie that we assume it's going to be.

And btw, give Berlanti the GLC even if it's as a producer. WB poo poo'd on his original GL script and look where that got them. Dude has shown he knows how to produce a story with Arrow, Flash, and Blindspot.

Not to mention the GL of Sector 2813, where Krypton is located, should have known how dangerous Zod would be to earth. So that means we officially have two GLs not doing their jobs in Man of Steel. Way to think things through, WB.

IIRC that'd be Tomar-Re. And Krypton blew up because he failed his mission. He was supposed to deliver an alloy that would stabilize Krypton's core, but he was blinded by a star when he got caught in a freak asteroid field.

How would he have known about survivors and refugees in the Phantom Zone? Kryptonians were a notoriously insular species.

He would just have to set his ring to scan for remaining genetic Kyrptonian traits. The rings contain the culmlative knowledge of the GotU, so it stands to reason that Tomar (assuming it's him) would be on Zod's trail to Earth.

From a recent interview

Tyrese Gibson got people at WB angry when he made it seem like he got the role of GL

According to Tyrese Gibson, there's still hope for him to land the role of Green Lantern in Warner Bros.' DCEU. According to producer Charles Roven, Green Lantern might show up in Justice League Part Two (June 14, 2019), otherwise, the DC Comics superhero will have to wait until the Green Lantern Corps movie, which doesn't hit theaters until June 19, 2020. While appearing on Larry King's talk show, Gibson addressed the start of his campaign for the role, his meeting with WB executives and the chances that he lands the role.

"You know how they have fan-made kind of things online? A fan did this image of me as the Green Lantern. A fan. And I was like, 'Woah, that looks cool.' And I posted it on my Instagram, and it just went crazy — over 1,500 sites. And it was just all of this buzz, and I was like I might as well run with this thing. And I did. P*** the people off, a little bit, at Warner Brothers because they thought that I had convinced the world that I had landed the role, which I didn't. And I said, "If you go down my timeline, at no point did I say the role is mine." But, you know, there have been other artists, actors and actresses who have put up images of them as a comic book character and ended up landing a role. So I was like, it's worth giving it a shot. I did meet with Warner Brothers, though. And...um...shoot me a prayer, Larry. I would love it. I've taken the oath. I would love to do it. "

Also can confirm from seeing movie, there is no GL reference in BVSDOJ(theatrical cut). There is no Dan Amboyer in there either.

According to Latino Review There will be three human Green Lantern's in GL corps. Stewart, Jordan, and Rayner. Also WB wants young Stewart and Rayner But an older Jordan (mid forties)

Damn, wish it was Guy instead of Kyle.

Hopefully they play up his comedic side against John.

i like addition of kyle this is thier chance to cast a latino since kyle is half mexican

If that report is true, I'm happy. Making Hal the experienced field general would really work.

Hal Jordan: Aaron Eckhart
John Stewart: Nate Parker
Kyle Raynor: Noah Silver

Ditto. Latino Review should be taken with a grain of salt tho. I hope this is another case of them being totally wrong. This movie should be John, Guy and a bunch of aliens

Are we sure they said the ONLY human Lanterns are Hal, John, and Kyle? Because they're missing a HUGE opportunity by not including Guy, if this is the case.

I don't understand what's with all these white kids getting cast as Kyle?

for a minority actor for Kyle Raynor how about Rami Malek(Mr.Robot)
latest

Michael Pena anyone

I just noticed how few young Mexican American actors there are. I was going to say Jay Hernandez looks the part but he is already El Diablo
