I haven't seen anything he's in,but he definitely looks the part.

Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. Please be true.

The Green Lantern Corps movie in 2020 won't just feature Hal Jordan and John Stewart--the two most popular Green Lanterns--but also Kyle Rayner was name-dropped as a third Green Lantern from Earth to appear in the film.

I just noticed how few young Mexican American actors there are. I was going to say Jay Hernandez looks the part but he is already El Diablo

Jay Hernandez (already El Diablo)
Michael Pena
Alex Meraz
Gabrriel Chavarria
Hector David Jr (He's Latino, unsure if he's Mexican)
Ryan Guzman (Half Mexican)
Nicholas Gonzalez (he looks young)
Michael Trevino
Tyler Posey

Those are the Mexican American actors that I know. I too don't know why so many are casting White guys as Kyle, its kind of annoying.

I've only seen him in a few small roles but he has a film coming out called The Birth of a Nation (which he also wrote and directed) that was a smash hit at Sundance and has Oscar buzz. Sounds like his career is about to blow up, so if WB snagged him for this, it would be huge.

Look, I'm as opposed to whitewashing as much as anyone else but I think when it comes to Kyle, DC didn't establish his ethnicity until some time after introducing him. I was really into GL in the 90s when Kyle made his debut, and it was never even implied that he was half-Mexican. I didn't even know that he was until a few years ago, and I think it's pretty clear that he initially wasn't intended to be (hence the name Rayner).

That said, they probably should cast a Latino actor in the role, I just couldn't think of any that are in the age range that would fit. I definitely feel the actor playing Kyle should be the youngest of the Big Three.

Latino Review doesn't exactly have a stellar track record, but I don't mind if these rumors are legit. I would like to see Hal in his prime but it does make sense for him to be a veteran. In the old issues Hal was definitely older than John, before he got de-aged around Rebirth. As for Kyle, I don't have a problem regardless if he is half Latino or Caucasian. Like Rowsdower! mentioned, it won't really be "whitewashing" because he wasn't reimagined as half-Mexican until much later on, but given the current climate, they would definitely make him a minority if he is there. I also saw in a recent comic that Hal was half Jewish and I'm not sure if that was always the case in the past, so basically every human GL except Gardner is a minority now.

Hal is half-Jewish? Yeah, I never even knew that.

Anyway, yeah, it's a good thing that they are diversifying the GL universe more and more and hopefully they will with the movie. But it's true that some of these things are relatively new developments.

I agree with what everyone is saying but Kyle is considered a Latino character by many fans and I believe DC considers him that too. I'm hoping they cast a Latino actor as Kyle.

I was kind of hoping they'd use Jessica Cruz though.

as a Hispanic myself i just dont see many talented young latino actors who fit this role

so while he is not Latino but still a minority i want Egyptian Actor Rami Malick of Mr.Robot Fame who is a great actor and only 34

Rami Malek is awesome but I think I have to see him in something where he's not out of his f***ing mind to sell me on the prospect of him playing Kyle, haha. He'd make an amazing Joker, that's for sure.

Ryan Guzman would make a great Kyle. He is the right age and ethnicity. i think he could pull it off.

Not a bad choice. He was a little boring on Heroes but that was more likely due to the awful writing.

Rami Malick could work, but I'd prefer they get an actual Latino, even if he's a talented no name. Let him surprise us. Meanwhile, with Nathan Fillion being cast Simon Williams today, it's clear the mighty CBM casting directors are listening to me, so I'm going to remind them....

John Stewart

No need to thank me, Casting Directors, I'm more than happy to do your job for you :o :woot:

Arnold Schwarzenegger as Kilowog is perfect

Aaron Paul is too tiny for Guy Gardner. He might have the personality but Guy is always portrayed as a big lug of a guy.

El Mayimbe is saying that Wb is eying George Miller as director :drl:

Yeah, and Chris Pine is secretly playing Hal. This guy is obnoxious, he just needs to shut up.

@EricVespe

Just got word from a very, very high up source that those George Miller Green Lantern Corp rumors are "bogus."

George has said he wants to focus on mad max sequel anyways i never believed it

And then Mark Hughes says he's been hearing the George Miller business too.
