Just because a particular film is heavily influenced by another particular film doesn't automatically mean that the tone of the two films will be similar.

Green Lantern Corps could easily be influenced by Lethal Weapon without having that film's comedic tone.

Agreed. Though with Hal Jordan being in the movie, you're bound to get some comedy.

Goyer is ok. It's not his fault Zack Snyder can't direct traffic.
Have you seen Blade 3, The Invisible and Unborn? Goyer makes Snyder look like Nolan. Goyer as a writer always needs someone to clean up his scripts. No, he isn't fine unless someone is there to salvage his scripts.

Can't stand Goyer. It's a shame because this was one of the few DCEU projects I was still looking forward to.

I like the buddy cop idea, it just sucks that they got Goyer to co-write the script. I don't know what he and Snyder have on WB executives.

Yeah, the concept sounds exactly like what I was hoping for, it's just in the hands of my least-favorite A-list screenwriter in existence, so I can't even get a little excited for it.

I still can't believe it.

Goyer's story should be rock solid. Hopefully, whoever gets the GLC directing gig will bring on a different writer to polish the dialogue.

But the way Mike Fleming phrased his announcement is that WB was excited by GLC's treatment that Goyer wrote with Geoff Johns, and they want to fast-track the thing.

I just hope they get a new writer to eliminate Goyer's clunky dialogue.

I wouldn't be surprised if Goyer wants to direct.

But just by writing it's showing WB still hasn't learned. I can't imagine what Goyer is thinking when he's writing space police men with green rings for ****'s sake.

Goyer is a much worse director than he is a writer so I'd weep for GL fans if that happened.

Meant to post earlier, but busy with work...Good to see this film finally moving forward. Hopefully GL doesn't become the equivalent to live action Fantastic 4.

They'll hire a director that they've worked with multiple times in the past. WB sticks to the same people.

They hadn't worked with Patty Jenkins before she got the gig for Wonder Woman. WB should just approach the same people that Marvel approached for their films, but didn't hire.

See if there's a GL fan among them, if there is, give them the gig if their vision matches up with the studio's.

WB seems to really love Goyer. Like they do Snyder. Two of the most wrong people to be making these comic book movies. They keep giving them work. It isn't a stretch to think that they could give Goyer the gig as director too. He has major pull and can do anything he really wants at this point.

Just came here to say it seems Duncan Jones has given his opinion on the GL situation, but it appears others have shown what they think already :woot:, Mathew Vaughn would be a good choice as director for this.

Given his whole distancing from BVS, and the switch to Terrio being credited as the writer of BVS.

I actually thought Goyer was finally getting ousted from DC stuff

I didn't say that they wouldn't do it. If they do such a thing they should prepare for another huge money loser though. They might trick people to see other bad comic book films but they won't be able to trick people into seeing another rancid Green Lantern film.

Jones knows how to tell a story in a movie. I dont agree with everything he said on twitter about GL but i 100% understand what he means and respect his opinion. I also think he thinks as a director who needs to teel a visual story that makes sense and looks interesting. and GL is hard to make into a live action movie.

A director who likes Green Lantern and has a clear vision on how to present the characters and universe on film is who they should be going after in my opinion.

I don't think the Green Lantern is that hard of a character to translate on screen. You don't want to bog down the first movie in too much of the mythology.

Alien cops with a ring that allows them to create constructs isn't too complicated.
Star Wars is arguably more complicated to explain if someone is completely unfamiliar with it.

I think the problem is that they think hiring Goyer is a sensible and good move for the movie. They lack self awareness combined with their handing of these characters.
