That's exactly what I thought when I saw that part of JL.

Dunno if anyone here watches American Gods, but Michael Green, one of the script writers for the 2011 Green Lantern, said he'd like to see Ricky Whittle as John Stewart. And while I don't know a TON about Ricky Whittle, his work on American Gods alone shows that he's got a commanding presence.

And who would you cast as the next Green Lantern?

MG: I’ll probably get angry texts if I don’t say what’s in my heart which is that Ricky Whittle would make a fantastic John Stewart.

Whittle is currently starring in Green’s TV adaptation of the Neil Gaiman’s novel, American Gods, so it’s no surprise that the writer would champion the British actor.

Yeah, he's been suggested here a few times and I agree that he'd be great. He's certainly got the look and the build for it, and he's good on American Gods.

Somewhat unrelated, but the fact that David Goyer is in line to possibly direct that Masters of the Universe film could at least pull him away from DC projects, particularly this one, for the time being. Hopefully.

Ricky Whittle isn't as well known which is what I would go for when casting John Stewart and that role could be a breakout role for him which is why I would want to see him cast as John

But I would go with a bigger name for Hal Jordan...James Marsden, Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch or Charlie Hunnam would be my picks for Hal

John Krasinski in 13 Hours mode is my Hal pick.

Hope so. It helps that I don't care about Masters of the Universe at all, lol.

For me it's Ricky Whittle or Trevante Rhodes for John.

Dan Stevens for for Hal

With the way DC has just thrown people into the world, I half expect them to jump straight to a destroyed Corps, and have Kyle picking up the pieces. I'd be okay with that.

Honestly that could work if they do it right. But I don’t have enough faith in WB to pull something like that off.

Dan Stevens as Hal Jordan...believe it or not I can actually see it just as I think about it

John Boyega as John Stewart I can actually see that too

No to Taylor Kitsch. If we are doing Hal Jordan again, he needs to be a charismatic alpha male. Taylor Kitsch just doesn't fit the Hal Jordan mold, just like Ryan Reynolds didn't. And we had to deal with that dreadful miscasting back in 2011.

Think of the pilots in The Right Stuff, like Sam Shepard as Chuck Yeager, and that's the mold of Hal Jordan. Unfortunately, very few leading male actors these days have those type of qualities of the late great Sam Shepard.

Yeah, I don't know why, but I find Hal to be a really tough character to cast. The actor needs to have that Han Solo/James T. Kirk swagger, and that's tougher to find than one would think. Reynolds looked the part well enough and can play a cocky womanizer but he just had the wrong type of energy for something like this. And Kitsch is about as charismatic as paperweight.

Then why not Armie Hammer or Jake Gyllenhaal or Ryan Gosling as Hal

Chris Pine would've been perfect actually, but he ended up playing Steve Trevor.

Any other Chrises left who would work?

Chris Evans? No, he's Cap.

Chris Hemsworth? No, he's Thor.

Chris Christie? Well, he's available but doesn't really look the part.

Chris Brown? Nah, he's too busy beating up women.

Chris Martin? **** no, Coldplay is terrible.

Maybe we need to think outside the box a bit to find our next Chris.

Christoph Waltz?

Peter Criss?

Criss Angel?

Christie Brinkley?

If he seemed to harbor any aspirations for a film career, I'd say Joshua Jackson would be a pretty worthy candidate for Hal.

I'm more convinced than ever that the GLC movie needs Kyle. He would be the relatable, break-out character that would get social media buzzing.

He’s good on The Affair but I can’t really see him as Hal.

LOL! This is hilarious.

Chris Pine turned down the role though. Apparently he had options but found Steve Trevor more important... makes you wonder...
