LOL! This is hilarious.

Chris Pine turned down the role though. Apparently he had options but found Steve Trevor more important... makes you wonder...

He was never offered to play the role. Collider asked him about the Green Lantern rumors last year while he was promoting Hell or High Water and he said DC had never approached him for it.

I said Gina Rodriguez before, but I would also be willing to accept Camila Mendes from Riverdale as Cruz.

GREEN LANTERN CORPS. 'STILL IN THE WORKS' DESPITE DCEU SHAKEUP, DAVID GOYER SAYS

The Green Lantern Corps. film is "still in the works," despite a recent shakeup with the DC film universe, according to David Goyer.

Goyer confirmed the film is still coming when he spoke to IGN during the 2018 winter Television Critics Association press tour.

When asked when fans can expect updates on the film, Goyer said, "I don't know. Who knows, especially with what's currently going on with the DC universe? There's obviously a whole recalibration happening with that right now."

Goyer was referring to the reported reorganization of future DC films following the underwhelming performance of the Justice League film.

The rest of the DC Universe shouldn't have to suffer because of recent **** ups.

Nah, it's fine, Goyer. You've gotta prioritize Masters of the Universe.

I'm so in love with this girl it's ridiculous :hmr::ilv:

I really hope this movie happens. I want a self contained trilogy with little reference to the greater DCEU. It's not necessary at all.

The storylines each film should be loosely based on
Movie 1: Sinestro Corps War
Movie 2: Emerald Twilight
Movie 3: Blackest Night

Hal Jordan - Matthew McConaughey
John Stewart - Trevante Rhodes

Okay... You always say you want to have "young" Hal, have said so for years now... but your casting choice is currently 48 year old Matthew McConaughey?

I’ve said that for years now?
Lol what? If you go back, ive said that I’m open to Hal taking on a mentor role to John... I just want a good movie. Older Hal or younger Hal, I don’t really care.

Isn’t the current idea for the movie to be Lethal Weapon in space? Idk if you’ve seen that movie but that features a veteran and more of a rookie having to work together... this format lends itself to an older Hal

Yeah at first I wanted a Hal that was more in line with the New 52 version, but I came around to an older Hal. I want to see Parallax

Even if Hal does play the mentor role, doesn't mean he should be 50 years old. That's not who Hal Jordan is, he's a guy in his physical prime, not some elder statesman. I still think making Jordan older would be a mistake. He should definitely be older than Stewart, just not decades older. They don't need to be that literal with the Riggs/Murtaugh thing.

That's not who Hal is? That's exactly who he was in the 90s.

The white streaks being from Parallax infecting Hal was a retcon. He was portrayed all throughout the 90s as an older guy.

He doesn't look very young there to me. Most guys I've encountered with straight up white streaks in their hair are at least in their mid 40s. There are exceptions sure, but I think the intention of the writers was to portray Hal as a guy in his mid to late 40s.

The white streaks never made any sense because Hal was the only member of the original JL line-up that suddenly started to age. I don't know what DC was trying to do in the early 90s but aging Hal while keeping everyone else young was nonsensical. Hence, Johns didn't actually de-age him when he brought him back, he returned him to who he was prior to that nonsense. Blaming his "accelerated aging" on the yellow bug corruption at least made some sense.

I'm able to see things more clearly now. I want to apologize for how much of an obnoxious Hal fanboy I was.

John can mean so much more to our society, and he can have so much more of a cultural effect. He is undeveloped compared to Hal because more time and effort was placed onto Hal, but he truly does have just as much potential as Hal with the right creative team.

I saw how truly important Black Panther was to our society. It wasn't just a movie, it was way more than that. DC can do something similar with John Stewart. I hope WB makes the right choice on this.

I am really feeling the idea of John replacing Kyle in the Emerald Twilight storyline with Hal as the main villain. I think that would be the PERFECT intro for the GLC franchise. I don't think you can just completely get rid of Hal. Make him a villain/supporting character.

Here are the storylines DC should take inspiration from in this universe.

If we do get John Stewart on the big screen, I hope they focus more on him as an architect than as a marine. It makes sense for GLs to have a creative background, since imagination is such a big part of the job. It's the same reason I like Kyle being an artist.

I get what you're saying. Personally I really liked his military persona in JL/JLU.

I don’t think I want to see Hal go bad onscreen. I think I’d rather they not use the character at all than see that. I think the best way to go is to balance out Hal and John as the co-leads. Each character has his own strengths and weaknesses and the buddy cop genre works well, if done well. Save Kyle and maybe Guy for the sequels so the first film doesn’t get too cluttered.

No. If Hal is in the movie, they better treat him with the respect they did NOT treat him with last time. Turning him into a villain just so they can push Stewart as the "main" Lantern will not do anything for him. I understand what you mean about Black Panther, but that should not be used as an excuse to push Hal to the side or turn him evil. Either treat Hal in a better way or just don't have him appear in the movie. John doesn't need Hal to babysit him and Hal doesn't need to play the role of a side-character or a bad guy. Either make Hal an actual co-lead protagonist who is just as important as John, or don't have him there at all. He deserves better than the role of "the old Green Lantern who went bad".

Wasnt there a Version where Hal turns gay? Maybe Green Lantern could reach an effect like Wonder Woman or Black Panther with that.

So this would be a good get if it happened.

Green Lantern Corps Might Have A New Director In Mind

With 2011's Green Lantern failing to impress critically and commercially, DC wand Warner Bros have been planning for years to give the Emerald Knight a shot at cinematic redemption through Green Lantern Corps, which was one of the earliest DC Extended Universe movies announced. While at one point it looked like David Goyer, who is co-writing Green Lantern Corps with Justin Rhodes, might also sit in the director's chair, other names have been tossed into the mix since then, and the latest one is Mission: Impossible - Fallout's Christopher McQuarrie.

That Hashtag Show is now reporting that Christopher McQuarrie is the current person being eyed to helm Green Lantern Corps. His involvement is far from a done deal, but supposedly there will be some movement on this project "very soon."

We shall see.

OMG. Yes please.

Ditching Goyer and replacing him with McQuarrie is basically a dream scenario for me.
