The Official Green Lantern Rumors/Speculation Thread

May sound ridiculous, but I don't think anyone cares about 2011 GL film.

The general audience barely remembers nor care.

If you release a decent preview of what the GL's will look like, then people will be hooked.

Persistent bitterness over CBMs really only exists in nerd circles. Ryan Reynolds' GL probably takes up very little (if any) real estate in the collective memory of the wider general audience.

I wasn't bitter about it, even though I was a huge GL fan at the time (still am). I just thought it was an ok attempt that could be improved on in the future.

My approach towards this DCEU GL, would be to have it mostly distant from what's going on in the DC universe similar to guardians of the galaxy at Marvel. Have the GL's cross over in big events.

I like this idea myself. But i never read the comics so I don't know if that would turn off fans.

As a big fan of GL comics, I like the idea of it being mostly separate. I like the space stuff more than the earth based stories for the most part. If they wanted to, they could have John based on earth with the League and Hal, Kyle, Guy out in space in the GLC movies.

If anything I think it should be the other way around with Hal being based on Earth with the League and John, Kyle, Guy, etc. out in space

Hal Jordan should be the Green Lantern on Earth and John even though he is from Earth too he should be based more in space same with the other human Lanterns like Guy and Kyle

But they could pop up on Earth every now and then but Hal should join the JL because he's the most recognized

GLC should be like GOTG. Spend their time in space except for the big team up movies.

Rumors are swirling that Armie Hammer will probably be Hal Jordan, given that both Geoff Johns and Joe Manganiello are following him on Twitter.

Eh, he'll probably be a character in the Batfleck film, but it's fun to dream.

He might be an interesting Bane. But if Hal had to appear he would probably do.

Still have fingers crossed for Stewart though

All of this is likely a huge load of crap. But if we're to assume for the hell of it that Armie Hammer would indeed have a major DCEU role, I doubt we would have a young Hal in the DCEU and I really doubt they would have a white actor play Bane again. I think the most obvious choices for Hammer are Dick Grayson or Jason Todd. I could see him play a resurrected unstable vigilante.

I'm finally starting to think there actually will be a GL presence in Justice League. Perhaps there was enough backlash against the idea of holding the GLC out of Earth's business for yet another film that WB realized they were making a mistake?

The most we'd probably get is a flashback scene with an alien Lantern or one of the Guardians helping in hiding the mother boxes on Earth. Makes sense for the Guardians to handle a matter like that personally and it would also suit their perpetuated narrative that Earth is some backwater planet that isn't worth anyone's attention in order to protect it. Until Abin Sur eventually makes his way there of course.

I'd like to think WB has Blackest Night in our distant future, but that's probably too much to ask. If they started with the Manhunters, there could take a Secret Origins chain of events from that to Abin learning the prophecy of Blackest Night, transporting Atrocitus to Earth, Hal getting Abin's ring, Sinestro searching for Abin, the birth of the Red Lantern Corps, etc. It would all fit together nicely.

Hammer is a great choice as Hal, but what if he is Dick Grayson

I could buy that this means Armie may be involved in forthcoming films, but I think him being Hal is wishful thinking. This is going to be Jena Malone is Barbara Gordon all over again.

I'm not sure how that crap even started. I never once believed she would play Barbara.

I'm thinking GL easter egg. Something to get the fans talking after the movie's over.

Armie Hammer as Guy Gardner would be ****ing on point.

Given the age of Bruce in the DCEU, I think it's entirely possible Hammer could be playing Dick. He would make a good young Hal, but I'm not ready to give up on veteran Hal yet.

Also, after the latest issue of GLC, Rot Lop Fan NEEDS to be in this movie, I don't care how plays him.

In Loudest Din or Hush Profound,
My Ears Catch Evil's Slightest Sound.
Let Those Who Toll Out Evil's Knell,
Beware My Power, The F-Sharp Bell!
