Let's all just unite in the knowledge that Guy Gardner's the Green Lantern that's REALLY the best, and it's the John Stewart fans who are REALLY getting it tough. :cwink:

I can do that

Hal vs Kyle isnt even Hal vs Kyle anymore

Its "What happened to Kyle in the eyes of stubborn Hal supporters" vs "What happened to Kyle in the eyes of cynic Kyle supporters"

I recently re-read 'Rebirth' and when they were in the part with Guy, I remember when he was doing the 'Warrior' thing....he did look silly with the face paint and all....

Guy is quite fantastic....I think it's the hair

I remember when he was slumming with the mid nineties Justice League and rocking the yellow ring....Doomsday made him eat his face....

It's you and those sharing your opinion that will not settle for any less than Hal is unquestionably inferior to Kyle, Hal fans have no legitimate reason to like him, and no compromise or middle-ground is ever good enough. No one's asking you to give up and say I'm right. More than once now, mediators have came in with a great post summing up the strengths of both characters, saying there's been wrongs on both sides, and we should look forward but not back. And more than once, you've outright rejected this, and went out of your way to stir things up and refuel the fires of the conflict.
No one here is demanding that you dislike Hal Jordan. But we're not going to ever accept your notion that Kyle's character has not been degraded. That's all we're claiming. Kyle's character has been degraded.

Well that's fine, then. I'm honestly tired with the whole argument, it's been like a 4 day marathon of this. But when it comes down to a character being degraded, a character having less value, that's ultimately the decision of the reader, not the writer. If you honestly feel that the events of a year ago prevent you from enjoying Kyle, now, as much as you once did, then that's your own issue, and it's not for me to say your reasons for feeling that way are illegitimate, any more than it is to say someone's reasons for liking Hal are illegitimate.

The DC Comics forum is becoming a bastion of ridiculous statements.

No...degrading is being shoved into a fridge....:oldrazz:

I'm sorry, Ill stop now....

Is there a power ring for promiscous behavior?? I wonder

Not really. My point is characters can wade through months, years of crap, and still by as popular and beloved as ever amongst readers. In terms of Kyle specifically, there are plenty of Kyle fans who 1) didn't have a problem with his treatment in SCW, or 2) DID have a problem with it, but have dismissed it as poor writing of his character IN THAT STORY, and moved on from there to enjoy his portrayal in Tomasi's GLC. But if, because of your dislike of how he was written in one story, Kyle is now degraded and damaged goods in your eyes, for the long haul, then that's very much the conclusion you, as an individual, have drawn.

Great point, excellent point, ultimately irrelevant point which has nothing to do with what is being said here. It's because Kyle is so beloved that there is this much hatred to his treatment.

I think the problem is clear, you don't know that degraded means. Because I can love my wife, but she can be degraded by some ******* construction worker on the street, but I still love my wife, but I will hate that ******* for degrading my wife and I'd probably kick his ass. Since Kyle isn't my wife, I won't kick Geoff Johns ass, but he will get my hatred for degrading Kyle and making him a joke of a character. I will however continue to love my wife, Kyle.

"Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in."

No, Kyle Rayner is not your wife. Kyle Rayner is not a real human being. He is a fictional character. He's been handled well, and he's been handled poorly. Just like Batman's been handled well, and he's been handled well. Like Wolverine's been handled well, and he's been handled poorly. Like Superman's been handled well, and he's been handled poorly. Like The Joker's been handled well, and he's been handled poorly. Like Dr. Doom's been handled well, and he's been handled poorly. Like Iron Man's been handled well, and he's been handled poorly. And yes, like Hal Jordan's been handled well, and he's been handled poorly. You're only as good, or bad, as your last story. And Tomasi has Kyle set up for plenty of cool stuff now. What the hell are we even arguing about now anyway? It's descended into some weird, amorphous mess of ideologies with no objective in sight.

Yadda-yadda, Kyle is a little b!tc#, Hal is a huge attention ****e a$$#*!e. Kilowog's way better than both anyway, so this discussion's pointless. :o

Yeah, you know what the difference is, all those people have their own books and or appear regularly in a lot of books. Hell most of those characters have multiple ongoings. Fact is Kyle, ever since Johns took over the Green Lantern title has been made a second tier, loser, piece of **** character. Only now, Tomasi is restoring some of the greatness.

Kilowog wins, right after Alan Scott (when he was good and not a shriveled up old man who doesn't do anything).

Alan Scott in his cape and Guy Gardener in that suit out on the town....the whole universe is pregnant by morning....

Keyser, I'm not saying that SCW makes it harder for me to like Kyle. I'm saying that it's grossly inconsistent, and interferes with the character continuity of the DCU. I mean, really, isn't that what we all hated about OYL? That it damaged the continuity of DCU characterizations? That Wally and Kyle never hang out anymore? That Cass Cain went psycho? Isn't that what we don't like?

I kinda like old Alan. Feels a little like Robert Redford in The Last Castle. And just as underrated.
