Hahaha, that picture of the 5 hal's made me crack up for some reason.

Wonder if Larfleeze is going to lose his Agent Orange status since he's part of the Blue now, and Hal's gonna make a grab for it?

Probably not, and those figures are probably just "what - if's". Except the Rage and Green one, that is.

There's a cover solicitation though for Orange Hal. And I'm sure he'll team up with Sinestro in Blackest Night.

so the Blackest Night arc is a crossover of all the DC comics and not just GL?

BLACKEST NIGHT: BATMAN
Written by Peter J. Tomasi

**** yes. I think he's the first author that I buy his books regardless. The Mighty is picking up and is good right now, his Outsiders is about as good as the book can be with the characters he's using, can't wait for this now.

Yeah, I'll probably pick it up for him. I'm curious to see how he handles Red Robin. Maybe he can strike a better balance between the dark angst and the Tim we all knew and loved a before his dad died than Yost is doing.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure those Black Lanterns on the GLC cover were all former Green Lanterns. Guy that Guy's fighting was a former Lost Lantern I believe, and guy that Kyle's fighting is Jack T. Chance, who he killed. Dunno about Arisia.

Donna's kid should be much older than that nightmare zombie baby. Maybe it's not really him.

Are you reading The Mighty? It started off a bit slow (first 3 issues), but it's picked up a lot since then. The books more about the handler of the only super powered being on the planet more than it is about the meta himself, which some might find off-putting, but he does a good job balancing the characters.

It's not selling very well (well, I don't really know what "well" would be for a book of it's type), but the 4 or 5 shops around my area aren't carrying it even on release days so that probably has something to do with it. Had to get them to special order it for me at my main store, what a hassle that was.

No, I passed on The Mighty. I figured I was reading enough superhero comics as it is.

You know who would be a good Black Lantern in Tomasi's series, Jack mutha****in Drake.

bloody band wagoners, my shop may not be able to fulfill orders for the main story let alone the build up or side books

GL #42 preview.

Looks like fun. Y'know those oddly-colored panels that pop up every now and then? The ones that look too smooth and painted? Well, someone mentioned elsewhere that those might actually be from the mural that Kyle's painting on Oa. That would actually be pretty cool, if it were the case.

On the other hand, good to see that Johns' interpretation of the Star Sapphire still boils down to "space rapist."

"Hmm...Brian, when you say 'good,' do you actually mean 'God f***ing DAMNIT'?"

Why yes. Yes I do.

Does anyone else think that art is kind of crappy? The anatomy especially. Which is odd, since Tan's Orange Lantern sketches that Newsarama kept posting looked great. Granted, those were all funky, non-humanoid aliens.

is that a bad thing? just wondering
It would be less of a bad thing if it wasn't hilariously out of character with how the Star Sapphires have been depicted by Tomasi, not that long ago (along with every single other person who has ever written one, ever, but at the least you could justify that with the fact that these are a new incarnation of S. Sapphires). There is such a profound difference between A)an army of beautiful women who fly around the universe defending lovers and avenging themselves against those who would destroy love, and B)an army of beautiful women who fly around the universe looking for the men they previously wanted to f**k but couldn't. The latter of which is apparently going to be Fatality and Carol Ferris' motivations.

And all that is, of course, even disregarding how Johns' Sapphires are dressed in the first place, which is a whoooooole other can of worms in a room already infested with the mofos.

So, yes, "space rapists" in this here context? Bad thing.

I mean, could this be justified, in terms of the story? Sure. You could say that Miri was a happy woman surrounded by true love all around her before she became a Sapphire, which gives her a lot of control over the emotion of love. Whereas Fatality, who had no love all her life and spent the last few years driven by psychotic revenge, has no control over love and is being deeply swayed by the violet at the far end of the spectrum. There, all explained. Except that it's just fanfic I pulled out of thin air right this moment, because it certainly hasn't been implied at all in the actual story, and anyway it doesn't explain Carol Ferris.

Phillip Tan isn't a good artist. I don't know who lied to him. Remember his run on Uncanny with Chuck Austen.

I do now. I forgot they were the same person. For some reason, I was thinking Billy Tan did Uncanny. (I'm not a fan of Billy Tan's work, either.)
