No. I liked Desperado and Sin City a lot more. HOWEVER, Planet Terror is definitly better than Spy Kids Trilogy, Shark Boy & Lava Girl, The Faculty, and Once Upon A Time in Mexico.

I agree with you on that, but my point is this is neither director's best work, and given the kind of movies they were paying homage to, how should people be disappointed that QT couldn't top movies he made that didn't pay homage to lesser movies? When QT made DP, I don't think he ever intended to try and top Pulp Fiction (which he shouldn't, as that would be tough task for the vast majority of movies to do).

I think Planet Terror was definatley RR's best movie, and I am a monster fan of his stuff

but this had everything I wanted in a movie, and Rose Mcgowan

The trailers on a whole were wonderful. "Machete" was great and I look forward to seeing the staright to DVD release of the film. I was little disappointed with "Werewolf Women of The SS", but it was still good. "Don't" was one of the most funniest things I have ever seen. Edgar Wright is turning into on my favorite directors, especially after watching the entire Spaced series. I'm really looking forward to Hot Fuzz. And Eli Roth's "Thanksgiving" was just fantastic. It got the most reaction out of the audience and had many great moments, especially the trampoline scene. Ok, so this post has gotten long enough. Thank you to anyone who took time to read it and I look forward to discussing this film more with many of you.

They're not actually making A Machete film are they?

I'm glad that Tarantino's movie is getting bad reviews. It's just sad that he had to drag down RR box office at the same time. For a non-African American, i find that he loves to drop the 'N-Bomb' at any and every chance he can get in his movies. I don't know who gave him his 'ghetto pass', or if he considers himself a 'wigga' but that's the kinda thinking that got Imus in trouble last week.

Not cool Mr.T

QT is down with our struggle G-13:ninja:

Well, RR filmed 45 min. just for the trailer. So they're just going to film the rest and release it straight to DVD. Should be entertaining.

Hmmm. Interesting. I couldn't find any info on this. Got a source? I would love to see a full blown RR movie with Danny Trejo as the star.

True, but it was QT's worse which is what I'm pointing out!

Yeah, I see why some think that. For me the thing is that I'm not a big zombie fan. I don't know. They just don't do it for me. I prefer a gunslinger killing drug dealers than Freddy Rodriguez killing zombies.

Not counting 4 rooms, this is the only Tarantino work I cannot stand. I'm not a huge Kill Bill fan, but they're enjoyable when there's nothing else to do.

But DP was a waste of money, definitely came off as a lame low budget 70s film with a stupid ironic ending. But that's what he was aiming for.

I don't want to come off as a Tarantino hater because I have enjoyed most of his work as a writer and director. But, Death Proof, with the exception of the car chase was a snoozefest! Oh, and I do count Four Rooms. So, Tarantino has two crappy movies in my book.

About the Weinstein's handling of Grindhouse underperforming at the box office? I do agree, the handling of it doesn't sound all that great. Splitting the films and re-releasing them, that's just a bad idea. They need to cut their losess and just make sure the DVD kicks all kinds of ass.

Agreed.

Maybe it would have been a better idea to release them Machete-style, DTDVD? Like "Wow, DImension found these old movies called PLanet Terror and Death Proof and decided to bungle them upm into one AWESOME DVD PACKAGE! *reallydonebyrobertrodriguezandquentintarantino*"

^That would be been funny.

But they wouldn't have made as much. This movie had like a 50/60 million budget

GRINDHOUSE was an awesome EXPERIENCE! It was more than just two movies, it was an EXPERIENCE.

Too bad that dumbasses in this country didn't "get it".

I havn't seen Grindhouse (not released yet in UK) so I can't really make a valid comment but the trailers have led me to believe that it can work on a couple of levels, for those who 'get' the idea of the Grindhouse and those who just want an entertaining RR & QT flick. I say this because my friend who I reguarly see movies with watch them simply on a visceral, entertainment level and can't see past the action on screen. An example is he hates films such as Braindead, Evil Dead, Bad Taste etc, films that use a low value production, excessive gore as a form of irony. So does Grindhouse work simply on this homage/ironic level or can it seperate itself as it's own established piece of entertaining cinema

It is true that Grindhouse is a great experience. Which is why I praise the overall project. Although I have different opinions about the individual films.

However, just cause its an experience doesn't mean its an experience for everyone. Some people just don't care to sit through a double-feature with fake trailers.

I haven't seen it either - not yet released here in Aus - but from the looks of the trailers it looks sort of ironic, tongue in cheek. It doesn't look like it setting out to win any Oscars, and it looks as if it knows it won't win any Oscars - it's just out to entertain...I hope that sort of answers your question...I'm tired so it might not make sense...

Trust me, thats only Planet Terror. Death Proof is a snooze-fest. The entire movie is people talking, talking, and talking. Then, a car chase at the end. Thats it.

What were you expecting from QT, it wasn't Kill Bill which had the intention from the start to be an action film. Tarantino's films have always been dialogue orientated, thats his speciality, Kill Bill didn't work alot of the time because he isn't an action director

The House of Blue Leavs fight was awesome though.

But back OT. I think I will love both - PT because I love tongue in cheek stuff, and Death Proof because I like dialogue-oriented things - from what you all ahev told me, plus I've seen the Thanksgiving trailer - that kicks ass, plus Nicholas Cage as Fu Manchu? THAT deserves an Oscar.

I just hope Weinstein isn't stupid ennough to ditch plans to release it in one package and release them separately, not only is it a dumb idea to being with - but then what is the point of the films in the first place, if it isn't a Grindhouse experiencewhen they are split up: what is it?

I agree, separating the films is an awful move, both for the films integrity and the marketing of the movie. People aren't going to splash out more money on an hour film, if they refuse to find it enticing to get a 2 for 1 offer
