Why do people dislike Death Proof. It may be uneven. But at the same time I'd say it is overall better than Planet Terror, though.

i'm not a big QT fan to begin with. I have a hard time with his movies. I almost always hate the characters he writes, and the actors he puts in the roles. In death proof, I just felt like the story went no where. Zoe was the only person in the movie that I really liked.

I just stole a Grindhouse poster from work!

Referring to confusion of people not liking QTs part. I thought it was so boring and I never thought I'd see the day where I favored Rodriguez to Tarantino. Getting to the car scenes was the longest time. The guy behind me fell asleep. He was snoring fairly loud. Planet Terror was the same goofy bloody outrageous horror Ive come to expect from someone who made From Dusk Til Dawn. I thought PT was much better than DP.

But we all know that if made, Machete would blow them all out of the water.

Side note: surprised they didnt have a blaxploitation faux trailer. Blaxploitation was rather popular (in a cult kinda way I guess). It was one of the bigger exploitation sub-genres to say the least. Not sure, but I think QT is friends with Spike Lee (QT was in Girl 6 from Lee). Surprised he didnt hit that up or make one himself. Or even yet get Van Peeples kid to do it.

Some of the greatest films of all time were more boring than DP, so I'd prefer that people give some better details on why they didn't like DP other than the fact that it was just "boring"...

After a disastrous release the Weinstein's had considered re-releasing Grindhouse as two separate films - according to JoBlo they've already tested them individually to which the end result wasn't any better, "word I got from inside the Weinstein Co. last night was that the plan to split GRINDHOUSE in two and re-release was very likely kiboshed. So that could be it for the GRINDHOUSE experiment folks, the website reports" We'll bring you a look at the test posters that were made in case a re-release happened sometime later this week. I guess all we can do now is wait for 18 different DVD releases.

SPOILERS
This is why Deathproof sucked:
A)The acting was horrid save for Kurt Russell.
B)You take a great idea like Stuntman Mike and you make a complete mockery of it. Okay, so the tables are turned and he turns all *****. It doesn't mean it's a good thing. It ruined the movie. Those girls could not act, and they were annoying. You wanna see a movie where the girls kick ass? Go watch the Descent. It was actually good, and the girls kicked absolute ass in that movie.
C)The dialogue was atrocious. I went with a bunch of friends, three of whom were girls, and even they couldn't stand the girls in the movie. The second group of girls especially. It was like Quentin went to the black girl and said "Here's a copy of Pulp Fiction. I want you to imitate Samuel L. Jackson to a T, but you have to be a stuntwoman instead of a hitman." She was obnoxious, annoying, and unfunny. In fact, they were all unfunny. Esp. the New Zealand lesbian. Oh joy it's so fun we're girls and we're talking about how we're gonna blow this guy and we're not gonna blow that guy. It's total bull. Tarantino is just trying to make characters that will rival the characters in Pulp Fiction. It will never, ever happen. It's unbelievable he went from Kill Bill to this movie. I know it was supposed to be in the vein of those 70's films and all, but that doesn't mean you have to make it bad.

As for Planet Terror, that movie had it all. It HAD the badass chicks, and they could actually act. It had the badass dude. And yeah, he died, so what? He went out like a warrior. And if anyone tries to say the gun leg was "stupid", just remember you're watching a film about zombies. And even given that, the acting was 20x better. I would've expected the acting in Deathproof to be in Planet Terror. Unbelievably bad.

Planet Terror: 9/10
Deathproof: 3/10

3 because for the 3 minutes of the film it was actually good.

in your opinion. not mine.

Fair enough mate - at least you're sticking out like a sore thumb and not sort of merging in with the crowd because it seems as if like Quentin is the quintessential film-maker around here - like he's a God...so it's at least cool I know someone who doesn't like him.

Why I gave that detailed synopsis, I dunno. :hyper:

I think this noob gave a pretty terrific summation of why I disliked 'DeathProof' so much!

...And not to knock Kurt Russell (b/c it's not his fault), but WHY(?!?) are people saying its his "best performance ever" when he only has about 10 lines of dialogue, little screen time, and he's basically a mellowed version of himself in this movie.

And LOVING Kurt Russell, I didn't want to see him end up like that at the end :cmad: It was like a bad joke was being played on me! :cmad:

I liked Stuntman Mike and DP, but it is not QT's best, nor Russell's best. Pliskin mops the floor with Stuntman Mike, for example.

Does that Gun on her leg just make Rose even sexier??

I one of my friends thinks I have a gunleg/amputee fetish.

Someone help...

and yes it does make her sexier - I really think she gets less hot when shes at Galas and **** in dresses and I'm like "WHERE'S THE GUN!?!?!"

Nothing like a piece of black metal at the end of a stump to get your man juices flowing
