Love this movie.

I give 'Planet Terror' 9/10. McGowen is a total hottie!

......but deathprrof 6/10. Like all of tarantinos movies, sometimes it just takes to long to get to the point and drags at times.

I love the 'Machete' trailer but my fav would have to be 'Thanksgiving'. Man, did you guys see that stuffed human on the table? That had to be the most horrific/funniest sight i have ever seen...ever!

worse than the trampoline splits/knife thing?

god i don't think i've ever cringed involuantarily (sp?) so hard at anything in my life.

I still can't believe had bad Grindhouse did at the Box Office. I mean only 11 million dollars?

I guess that just proves people don't wanna sit in a theater for over 3 hours and would rather watch a crappy faily comedy for 90 minutes like that dumb are we don e yet movie.

I wanna see this movie i've yet t osee it. I'll probably see it sometime this week.

With fewer showings each day, it couldn't take in what it might have had it been average running time.

I saw this Friday night with my dad and I loved it (he liked it as well). Over three hours of mindless, thrilling fun. I can't choose which of the two films I liked better, but I'll say Planet Terror by a hair. Great performances all around, especially by Russell and McGowan, and overall it was the most entertaining 3 1/2 hours I've ever spent in a movie theater.

I'm really surprised it flopped. It had great hype, and no real competition. I guess Easter Sunday had something to do with it, although I'm a Christian and I saw it on opening night.

Also, was I the only one who burst out laughing when Nicolas Cage popped up in the Zombie trailer. I hate Zombie with a burning passion, but his trailer was my favorite.

OK folks, I am not going to take the time to explain how much I f-cking absolutely LOVED this film...but I sure as hell did! I am so late in posting my 'mini review' because the electric has been out here, and the boards have been down...but here it is...

GRINDHOUSE...what a film. First, let me say that I am REALLY looking forward to Rob's full MACHETE film, after that sweet as hell fake trailer. Next, I have to say...'Planet Terror' was amazing. I love the humor, the action, the characters, the gunleg and Freddy/Rose's sex scene...good stuff. I like the ending as well...

...but NOTHING compares to 'Death Proof'...that movie was so damn good, I can't even express it. Kurt Russell was more than awesome as Stuntman Mike, and I hope they do a full STUNTMAN MIKE origin film sometime...I do have to admit, I was a bit bored for the first 15 minutes of the film, but hey...its all character development...no harm, no foul. The final 20 minutes of Death Proof are just...WOW. I love car chases and car chase films, but this...was something else...something better. THIS was a Tarantino directed car chase...Kurt Russell and Zoe Bell were fantastic in this scene, and the ending of Death proof...is SO UNEXPECTED but SO GREAT. My brother and I laughed for awhile after it...

Well, there you have it. I would've went into a lot of detail, but I don't feel like it...just know that it IS A GREAT GREAT GREAT FILM.

CAH

Yeah my theater had it only playing 5 times compared to blades of glory and meet the robinsons which they had play 10 times each. there earliest showing was at noon. they should have started at like 10 or 11 am.

Apparently Machete is going to be direct-to-DVD.

I think this is actually good because I have a fetich for DTDVD features

I still want Grindhouse to come out here April 19 - I really think it coming out on said date. May 31st sounds unrealistic.

Oh whew I saw GH this friday and man I must say that I didn't imagine I was gonna have so much fun, I mean these movies are definitely crowd pleasers specially PT. I mean if you haven't seen it yet and are planning to go make sure to be in an all sold out/packed theater to get the full experience. My favorite of the two movies I would have to say is planet terror. It has everything and in spades, the overthetopness is what I liked most, its hilarious and yet cool and badass. The thing that surprised me the most was not the action or the gore but that it actually had some great character(believable)moments that I didn't expect.

The performances where top notch everywhere from FR to MS but the best by far for me was rose mcgowan she was awesome in every way possible. Also I don't understand the hate from most critics of quentin appearing in front of the camera
I though his part in PT was one of the most hilarious things in the movie, and he clearly played it for laughs which is what's supposed to be.
I came to the movie prepared to see a brainless, cool entertaining ,action/zombie flick and that's exactly what I saw and **** did Robert rodriguez delivered on all levels. I had so much fun that i was exausted after it ended.
then the trailers... well I won't say much only that they where great, machete was well, it simply had RR's stamp all over it exagerated action stunts in other words, perfect for what it was trying to acomplish,
Edgard wright's don't was the funniest little trailer I have ever seen, it reminded me of all the 70's hounted house horror movies. But by far the best trailer for me is thanksgiving period. I mean the final scenes of the stuffed human where just super bizarre, sick and really creative. IMO Roth totally nailed that late 70's early 80's slasher feeling and I really liked the narrator's voice.

Now comes death proof. I've read some reviews about how the movie was aftected by the pacing and the structure of it, and that some of the dialogue scenes dragged on forever. and really to be honest I think they're mostly right. The movie is greatthe and I specially loved the concept behind it and I understand what quentin was trying to do with the dialogue and where he wanted to take it. But sometimes it's just too much to take and some of the dialogue was just pointless the buildup took simply too long the first group of girls with jungle julia started with a greta set up and the exposition was needed plus this where the scens in which we are introduced to stunt man mike in which kurt russle totally shinned though out. Heck I will say that he should have had more exposition than he had. after the first group was killed thigns started to pick up really nice. But then it went on and on and on and... well you know anyway I remember people starting to get up and leave the room its just too much to take specially after the wild ride that was planet terror.
Now the final half of DP this is where things finally got really interesting and where the film paid off. Here is where Kurt russel's performance takes the wheel(no pun intended) seeing him become the "victim" and a total ***** is where totally nailed the character for me. Zoe bell is great as well herself the stunts where great and the car chase really was exilarating and very well shot it was and adrenaline rush but unfortunately the first two halfs went on for far too long and by the time we got to this part I(as well as my friends) didn't care much for waht happenned to the characters anymore. However the final retribution saved it for me a bit. it was inspiring. all in all quentin did more justice t othe GH era than robert did(as robert went more with an 80's action film grindhouse wannabe movie and quentin actually did the closest thing to grindhouse) but still the more entertaining movie goes to PT. but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy death proof it was awesome still.

The girl from charmed is nude, but you don't see anything definitive(but that last picture before the missing reel was great).

Other then that most of the nudity is in the false trailers.

Hey guys. Saw Grindhouse Saturday night. I preferred Death Proof to Planet Terror. Yeah it's alot of talk but you expect that from a Tarantino film. Planet Terror was ok imo . Without Rose Mcgowan I'm not sure it would have worked as well. It was good to see Sayid (Navee Andrews) and Michael Bien . I thought Kurt Russell was great in Death Proof. It's been a while since he's had such a great part. However the actress from Cold Case was a welcome surprise. Zoe Bell also did pretty good . The trailers were good to. .

So out of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino:

Who's dialogue was more easier to listen to?

I've always liked Tarantino's dialogue, and especially the conversation with the second group of girls while they were driving. So I definitely preferred the dialogue in Death Proof over Planet Terror. And shoot, Vanessa Ferlito can read the damn phone book for all I care, and I'd still be enthralled!

I don't have anything against GrindHouse but I am going to laugh my butt off if it drops hard next weekend, because I'm already getting tired of all the lame excuses on why it did poorly. This movie has very little chance of making back it's budget and having good legs. People on the net said that Firefly the movie would have good legs and it didn't.

Saw Grindhouse yesterday, and it was a wild ride for sure.

Planet Terror was just awesome -- eveything I thought it would be. Rose McGowen was just so unbelievably HOT. She and Freddy Rodriguez carried the movie, but Mary Shelton and Josh Brolin both had very strong performances as well.

The fake trailers -- what can I say --- all hysterical and done very well. My favorite of course was Thanksgiving. Roth nailed the old slasher trailers from the late 70s and early 80s (watch the original Friday the 13th trailer from '80 and its very similar).

Now on to Death Proof. I was really looking forward to this one and it had a lot going for it -- Kurt Russel, more babes, fast cars, etc.

The buildup in the beginning was great -- to the point where Stuntman Mike does away with the first group of girls. Then it gets to a screeching halt with the next group (led by Rosario Dawson and Zoe Bell). This group was just so annoying and WAY too much time was wasted on their conversations which were pointless.

Quintin has said that this was his slasher flick and Kurt Russel uses his car instead of a knife or an axe to dispose of the girls. In a sense, from the beginning, it was played up like that.

But it dragged -- then again, the end car chase was great. But I thought it was wrong to all of a sudden turn Stuntman Mike into a coward at the end (he should've been coming at the girls again and again, like a Jason or Freddy --- only with a car).

Anyhow, I enjoyed the whole experience. It was great.

So?

It's already in IMDbs Top 250, although the people who talk on there are ********s.

What they need to do is release it in other countries.

*COUGHAUSTRALIACOUGH*

It'll probably make around 1 mill from here, but like it needs to be released in England as well - all the places not not English

I agree. I think its quite funny. I mean they keep making so many excuses.

Not suprised it flopped... Tarantino just doesn't do it for me... Pulp Fiction was good but not top 50 all time good.... Kill BIll had its moments... Resevoir Dogs was good... but this guy just can't deliver for me at least... just make Inglorious Bastards and I can officially be done with this guy... 6/10

Planet Terror had more gags than laughs... 7/10

It's only flopped if it has made under its production budget and it has officially left theatres.

It's only just opened and it's going to get its money back imo

Face it, people expected 25million, and it ended up making 11.6 million.

At the least, this film ends up being a huge disappointment for the studios.

Grindhouse churned out a shabby estimated $11.6 million, the least-attended nationwide start for directors Tarantino and Rodriguez. At 2,624 theaters, the horror double feature wasn't the widest new release, but it had the highest screen count—an estimated 3,700 screens—making up for a showtime-limiting three-hour runtime. If many moviegoers had wanted to rip into Grindhouse, they had plenty of chances.

Yeah I know it was 11.6 million but stop making up excuses for it being a flop - that amount is only over a three to four day weekend...which if you think about it is actually pretty good.
