I one of my friends thinks I have a gunleg/amputee fetish.

Someone help...

and yes it does make her sexier - I really think she gets less hot when shes at Galas and **** in dresses and I'm like "WHERE'S THE GUN!?!?!"

its not a fetish
on the red carpet she just looks to polished. I want to see her looking Hot, sulrty and dangerous. and nothing says dangerous like an F---ING gun for a leg.

What I love about these Planet Terror posters is that the gun is on the wrong leg. lol.

Yeah, me too. Maybe it's intentional?

EW: have you seen my “Grindhouse” trailer?

JO: Yes I did. I loved it.

EW: Well that’s the thing… my “Grindhouse” trailer was my, kind of like, tribute to Bava and Argento… and “Legends of Hell House”. But particularly, I love those kind of horror films that are kind of like waking nightmares. In a weird way I was never a big fan of the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” films. I liked the idea of them. I liked the premise and I liked some of the visuals but I never liked, kind of, the boring exposition bits in between. And it’s almost like the Bava and the Argento are like the horror films with the boring bits cut out; they’re all kind of like in this dream state. I really like that aspect. And “Suspiria” I just think is the ultimate one like that. It’s just totally kind of like its sole intent is to be surreal. I’d love to make a film like that. So [speaking into my recorder] if you’re listening… “make ‘Grindhouse’ a big, big hit so I get to make ‘Don’t”.

JO: I agree with that.

EW: [Laughing] Start the campaign, do an on-line campaign.

Man, we gotta try to make GH a hit in the Europe/outside US. :/

Some interesting conversation from the other thread, you can disagree but please post valid opinions, as the posters in these posts have so done....

What in god's name is wrong with you people? A little bit of violence and **** and you completely glance over an amazing movie like Death Proof? Don't get me wrong I enjoyed Planet Terror like I enjoy most of Rodriguez's movies by disconnecting myself from the story, and just enjoying it scene by scene however, he doesn't ever actually make a good movie, perhaps it's because he's a lousy scriptwriter. Planet Terror isn't even really a B-Movie, B-Movies were B-Movies because they didn't have a budget, so there wasn't death and blood every 5 seconds. The reason Death Proof was awesome is because it's exactly what a B-Movie is like, usually has a big star within a rather poorly budgeted film in which they filled the scenes in between the one or two action sequences they had with needless banter. However Quentin Tarrantino uses these spots to display hilarious banter as well as delving deeper into the characters so that we actually give a **** about them. In the first half, we're sadden that these characters are ripped from it and aren't even able to finish their character arcs, which leads to the most awesome ending ever! The second bit is simply Quentin's control of the camera, is awesome! My friend and I jaws were on the floor by the end of the movie since everyone was saying how much better Planet Terror compare to Death Proof when it was the opposite.

In REsponse to the above post:

bull s--t. I already explained this, sir. Death Proof is not a Grindhouse film. Grindhouse films don't have people talking for an hour without anything happening. True, there wasn't the budget for action scenes but there was enough of a budget for fights scenes, sex, and nudity. Just go watch Coffy and Foxy Brown for example!
-Though there's no way a grindhouse movie could ever be anywhere like Planet Terror

But his banter is no better than those B-movies to come before. The dialogue is atrociously BORING, and has entirely misplaced "stylish" for insessantly vulgar. It's entirely disinteresting, and the characters are loathsome at best.

In Response to Prognosticator:

Loathsome? I liked this because it gave Quentin the chance to experiment with a flawed plot structure in much the same way it gave Micheal Mann a chance to experiment with Miami Vice. I mean in the begninning of Death Proof you have these normal characters... The self-absorbed and obnoxious ****, the snobby needs-to get laid one, and the jealous *****. Then you have stunt-man mike, that king of cool... As that story flows, you get to like the characters for their idiosycrancies, as well as enjoying the f'ing cheese of it all, then is displayed the ill car that's death proof. Halfway through these characters arcs, there violently killed, leaving much hate for Stuntman Mike... There something savage in that, I like how if you dig a little deeper there some wonderful subtext and really gives you a feeling for death and how it is, in that sense of life being cut short.

However, here is where the flawed plot structure works in, the next 3 characters are more or less periphery since this is just the death of stunt-man mike, and revenge on that character. Like I know it creates that disconnect because it sort of like two mini-movies in one but by being a self-proclaimed B-Movie it gives it an excuse to do something cool like this. And now in this second half your introduced to three new women who you also grow to like and truely hope they don't meet the same demise as the last three women, leading to the ultimate satisfaction at the kick ass ending. Also Stuntman Mike turning out to be a big ***** was awesome. I can completely understand why people didn't like it, but I felt Quentin took a real risk here and push his talents, instead of just doing the same ol'same thing which is what Robert Rodriguez did... As per usual terrible story which is jsut an excuse for cool action scenes.

Finally got around to seeing this film, I enjoyed all the Prevues and Planet Terror, not so much for Death Proof.

Okay, I may be crazy, but is that Jim Jarmusch playing the saxophone in the military prison in "Planet Terror". I've seen it twice now and I was positive, but its not listed on IMDB.com or anywhere else. Anyone care to shed some light on this?

EDIT: Never mind. Apparently it was some guy named Johnny Reno. Whoever he is, the two of them could be twins.

True, but reality is that neither was an accurate Grindhouse film which is why Tarantino fanboys need to stop using the argument. Everytime someone says, "Death Proof sucked," a Tarantino fanboy will say, "but DP was accurate grindhouse!" That is bull. Like I said before...neither of them were. Planet Terror had too much action and Death Proof had people talking too much. BUT atleast Planet Terror was highly entertaining which is something Death Proof wasn't and it is why people like myself say it sucks.

That's my entire point. I NEVER got to a point where I was remotely near "liking" the female characters. I was merely tollerating their presence in hopes of seeing their demise...and it never happeneed. :cmad:

Johnny Reno did some music for RR's second movie, Roadracers! Still haven't seen that... There was supposed to be a DVD in 2005 but that never arrived.

When the hell do we get Grindhouse in UK, i've been waiting patiently with grit teeth

But the best part is Lesbian Fergie + Lesbian (or bi) Marley Shelton = DEF SEEING THIS

lol Marley SHelton is hot. Bugger the injection gun- give HER the gun leg!!!!!!!!!!

This movie has cult classic written all over it, just like SoaP. But also like SoaP, the execs were expecting tons of money because it has a big name or two.

But no worries, it'll do good on dvd.
