I saw it in ahteatres and checkl Box Office Mojo.

It DID NOT bomb.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=snakesonaplane.htm

Budget 33 mill. Made 34 mill domestically and 28 mill internationally bringing the worldwide sales to 64 mill.

I don't see that as a bomb

When you take into account the marketing budget, plus how much hype the movie was getting BEFORE its release vs. the weak opening numbers...it was a bomb.

And when an over-hyped movie "breaks even" by observationist standards, it's still in the hole!

I just have to say.... the part from Thanksgiving with the girl getting the knife in the vag was brilliant....

I can't believe this tanked now the international releases are going to be separate, whats the point in that?! I'm really disappointed, fingers crossed for a Grindhouse DVD.

Saw it last week and it rocked the house for me! those stupid audiences that didn't made this a hit didn't know what they were missing and went to see "Blades" instead.

I'm sure it'll get another chance when it hits DVD but will there be an Unrated special edition DVD?

BoG was a good film, condemning people for seeing that rather than Grindhouse is like going to see Goodfellas instead of The Godfather and someone calling you a moron for your bad choice

Grindhouse hold for UK

After the mediocre take at the box-office, GRINDHOUSE's release in the UK is going to be held back as the Weinsteins and Momentum Pictures contemplate what the best course of action would be. On the one hand, this whole thing really surprises me, not because I thought the movies were amazing, but because I always thought that people will flock to the cinemas to see anything with Quentin Tarantino's name on it. One the other hand though, it's hardly surprising nowadays when an innovative movie comes along and gets owned at the box-office by a so-so comedy. Don't get me wrong, I'd vote for Will Ferrell as the funniest man alive, but it's saddening to see such an average comedy absolutely destroy what is probably the most inventive film experience of the year, if not the decade thus far. I don't even want to mention the fact that ARE WE DONE YET? beat GRINDHOUSE at the box-office too, but I guess now I have and Atheists among as can welcome it as fairly weighty proof for their religious beliefs. Anyway, we'll keep you UK readers updated on developments...

I just read this, that's awful, I'm not going to get to see it now for ages. Not doubt when it is eventually released it will probably be two separate films, which I would hate

Why must it absolutely be split up just because it failed at the box office? It doesn't make any sense.

Catwoman flopped and they didn't separate piece of that

They should of seperated Catwoman into thousands of tiny pieces, and burnt them with a huge celebration

The whole point of Grindhouse, is that it is a movie going experience, they created this film with intent of a homage to the double bill features, separating it would take away the intergrity of the event. I wish there was a way to petition against it.

Well splitting it up defeats the purpose of seeing it doesn't it?

It's so sad when such an innovative thing it put into the hands of someone who doesn't know what to do with it

What is even worse is Planet Terror in itself looks the far more appealing of the 2. If they were to split it up, Death Proof wouldn't make hardly anything

Finally saw this tonight.

How wonderful. I thought a few times I was going to hurl. :csad: It could've been the two giant rice krispy treats I chowed down. Josh Brolin looks way too much like his dad. The music was great in Planet Terror,I felt like dancing.
Death Proof was aces,I kind of hated seeing Kurt Russell being evil and wicked.

Holding it back from the Uk? Big mistake. If it comes out on dvd before a Uk showing, guess which i will be doing :p

At least with GrindHouse bottoming out at $35 million, it's going to solidify the movie's status as a "cult" classic!

Well that's one way of looking at it!

With the grim future of this movie hanging in the balance, does anyone know if 'Machete' will still be released as a straight to dvd flick, as others have reported?
