:funny:

I love how certain people have really hung their hat on that review as if it makes some kind of point for them.

So glad my posts are spreading some love.

Anyway, I just found that funny, that's all, and in-topic, actually. :woot: I'll finally watch Vol. 2 this week and hopefully enjoy it.

Vol 2 is a extremely funny and emotional character-driven story about family. You may want to wait until its on Netflix.

Nothing more to write about this. It's not going anywhere other than 81%.

Time to rest in peace lol. A nice figure to end on.

81/82% that's it for GOTG2.
Good rating for a comic book movie, there's no denying it...

I'm very pleased this stayed above the 70's.

"Knock on wood".

I see 81% now after 283 reviews.

I don't think it really matters now that the film has been out a couple of weeks. Most of the impact of RT on a film's success would be felt right away, and the difference between 79% and 81% is pretty negligible anyways.

No it doesn't matter. For this to really reach 82% (we round up, when it hits 81.5 which is fair), it would need 12 fresh with no rotten. I'm not even sure there are 12 reviews left. If it gets 4 more fresh with no rotten, you can round it up to 82%.

Anywhoooo, this is just a case of my own personal machinations and really has no effect on anything other than that.

I notice most superhero movies in the 80's are considered good and those in the 70's are divisive or have a mixed reception.

And those in the 20s aren't considered divisive? 50s? :cwink:

TASM2 and MOS come to mind as movies in the 50s that are vehemently defended by a niche of people.

If anything I rarely see anyone defend TASM2. People treat it like it scored in the 30s on the Tomatometer.

(For the record, I strongly disliked TASM2.)

81% seems surprisingly low. I'd say it should be in the 90s.

A critic finally admits how clueless they are and still give an opinion.

Back before Rotten Tomatoes, when we only had local critics to rely on, it's surprising that great fantasy and sci-fi movies ever drew an audience in light of the reviews they got. I lived in the DC metro area, where the critics positively hated anything but dry dramas and the occasional comedy. All of the reviewers slammed LOTR, The Matrix, The X-Men and anything else that could be considered genre fare. One guy said he just couldn't understand anything Tolkien ever wrote, and therefore he considered LOTR trash. The Washington Post's critic stated that he disliked Raimi's Spider-Man because he wasn't sexually attracted to Kirsten Dunst, so he couldn't take the film seriously. I kid you not.

RT isn't an ideal guide for moviegoers, but it's a damn sight better than what some of us had back in the day. At least now I have access to reviews that aren't written by clueless dweebs or pervy old men. :cwink:

Must be a difficult job!
