Just watched it and absolutely loved it, now the only Hellboy books I read was the recent 2 issue mini about a folk tale or something so I wasn't familiar with the source material beyond that and the movei, but I really dug this movie. the art style was amazing and the colors were fantastic, the story was enough to keep me interested and the VO's sounded nice. I would say it was almost as good as the Spawn Animated Series and one of my favorite animated comic films under Mask of the Phantasm and return of the Joker.

It was kind of slow in early parts, but from the middle to the end I was hooked. The whole scene with the turtle kappa was awesome. "Jerk." :woot:

The Kappa was awesome. The heads were a cool nod too. I love how he batted them with his stick. My only problem with Hellboy was that his aim was too good. He isn't very good with the gun in the comics.

i must admit i hated the beggining but the rest of it is good

the intro sucked, and pearlman didnt sound as rough as he did in the live action movie.

Other than that, it was good..

Damn! That's kind-of a long time. Why the wait?
I tihnk, I could be wrong, that the DVD will have both movies on it so they have to wait till they show the second.

Nope, they're being released individually. The release of Sword of Storms on DVD is to coincide with the screening of Blood and Iron on TV.

That makes sense.

I doubt that. Perlman is a ridiculously experienced actor. He's not just a character actor. He's been doing the VA thing for decades, especially in animation.

I liked the characterizations in this show. Especially Abe, and Doug Jones did a much better job with his voice than Hyde-Pierce. So I say keep this Abe voice and character for the next Hellboy movie.

Also they got the relationships right this time:

Abe/Liz

Hellboy/Kate

Abe totally got some play from Liz when he stole not one but TWO open mouthed kisses from her.

Hellboy and Kate totally had the romantic tension from the comics going on.

Seeing all the characters from Japanese folklore and the Yokai series was fun. I think Hellboy should've just made friends with the Kappa by giving him a bunch of cucumbers.

It was also cool seeing a fairly faithful rendition of the floating heads story from the comics in animated form.

Best of all, there was no dumbass named John Myers.

Also, where was Bruttenholm, wasn't he supposed to be in these?

when is this airing again? I got off work late and didn't dvr it.

Yes indeed, he is - the Professor is in the next film, Blood and Iron, voiced by the inimitable John Hurt. I'm a little sad though, that young Kevin Trainor, who played the young Bruttenholm in the live action film, won't be voicing him in the animated film. I thought he did an excellent job.

What about Lobster Johnson, is he actually apart of Hellboy? Will he be in any?

Guillermo says to nag Mike Mignola about it. Otherwise we'll never get to see LJ in the movies. Sigh.

Any chance this movie will air again before February 6th, 2007?

If more animated films are greenlit we might get to see Lobster Johnson. The main reason Mignola and even Tad Stones don't want to include LJ, is that they feel they would need an entire movie dedicated to him and his story in order to do him justice. I kind of agree with that.

I'd prefer to see him in the live action film first before animation though.

Well, the reason why they didn't get the young Bruttenholm is because the Professor in the next animated movie is probably the older version.

But I do agree that the guy did great as the young professor.

So I guess Bruttenholm is still alive in the animated continuity.

just finished watching it, that was one helluva mature cartoon:o

Is this a duplicate of an arc in the comics or something completely fabricated for animation

It's new for the animation, but the japanese floating heads part is directly from the comics.
