Cavill would fit well with the new Superman: Earth One depiction should they choose to be inspired by the new take it has:

Shane Davis uses Routh's likeness often but in varying degrees.

While Earth One Superman may have some Routhness in him, the overall look is different and unique IMO, since they wanted a younger 21 year old Superman

I DO like that suit though.

out of the realistic choices, i think Cavill is the best suited. i hope WB considers him, and i hope he's not too burnt by previous casting decisions to pursue the role. Cavill, why do we fall? so that we may learn to pick ourselves up!!!

Honestly, this dude is so superheroish, it's pretty absurd that studios have passed on him other superhero roles.

If he's not Superman he'll probably be another superhero at some point. I just dont understand why he's not even rumored for most of the recent superhero-projects.

Even though I'm personally a Routh fan(not trolling, just expressing my opinion), I wouldn't mind if Cavill got the role. Good actor, looks like Superman, decent height and build. I'm sure Nolan and Snyder can make him work. I mean, look at Bale. As terrible of a Batman he is, Nolan managed to make him bulk up from "The Machinist" to "Batman Begins". Reeve is another example. He bulked up 30lbs for Superman. Cavill is in better shape now then they were when they started and height isn't an issue. They can fix him up with boot-lifts.

If they're casting around 30 rather than that rumored 35-40, I really hope he gets it. This is set up to be one kickass movie, all that's left is a great Superman.

That's funny, because the reason I like him so much for Supes is that, to me, he has such a naturally wholesome, almost puppy dog-esque face, lol.

So cuddly! There just seems to be an almost inherent, for lack of a better word...dorkiness there that would be a shame to waste on Bruce Wayne, imo. Sure, he can look "brooding" - most good-looking guys can do the brooding look. Just pick any male model out of line-up and he could do just that. It's much harder to find someone who has that dash of adorkable boyscout needed for Supes. And Cavill's definitely one of those, imo.

Besides, in certain pictures, like this one:

He reminds me of a youthful, more square-jawed Jon Hamm, which immediately makes me go "THAT's Superman."

He looks nothing like Batman if you`ve seen him act. He has a regal, shining knight, quality that is perfect for Superman. Just watch him on the Tudors...

Bats and Supes are very often drawn similarly so it's not like we're associating him with such a radically different character. Cavill just has the quintessential superhero look; tall, handsome, chiseled, dark hair. Just so happens that Bats and Supes fit this bill.

I could easily see him as either character, though at this point and time I would definitely prefer him to play Supes simply because it's a much harder role to cast.

I hope he atleast gets himself in for an audition! I really do think he'd be perfect given the chance but he always seems to be the nearly man. Hamms to old make him jor-el if anything. If it isn't routh or welling then cavill is perfect to launch a new superman! wake up snyder and nolan
