Justice League The #CavillMVP Superman Movement Thread

I'm a little embarrassed doing this, feels like writing a letter to Santa Claus, but if there's a chance he'll actually read this it seems like it's worth a shot. At the very least it might mean something to other people on the forum.

Superman has been important to me for most of my life. He's been a role model and an inspiration, someone who has affected my words and actions, made me kinder, braver, more patient and more tolerant. Despite being fictional, he has affected my life in a very real way, and I believe I'm a better person because of it.
There have been many different stories through which Superman has affected me, but few have had so great an impact as those in which Henry Cavill played him.
This Superman has all of the moral strength I've come to expect of the character, always placing others above himself and seeking to help people whenever he can and however he can. He is confident and forceful without being aggressive, he never bullies others and is diplomatic, always offering a chance for peace with those who mean him harm.
The way Cavill plays him in the military base in MOS is a perfect example of this. Calm and collected, being very patient, he treats humanity with respect, as equals despite his power. At the same time, he doesn't allow himself to be bullied, he never cows to them, he agrees to work with the army, not for it.
However, when he see's injustice, he refused to stand by, he gets angry when people are harmed or mistreated and he will step in set things right.
Some people have complained that this Superman doesn't talk enough, for me, this is a testament to Cavills skill as an actor. Often in BVS, there are scenes where no dialogue is necessary because everything that might be said is written large by Cavills facial expressions and body language.
We know how Clark feels about the "Must there be a Superman conversation" by the way he reacts when watching the news. Any dialogue where he explains how he's feeling is rendered redundant by Cavills superb acting. He emotes in such a way that we instantly connect with how the character is feeling.

For me, no actor has ever made Superman so human whilst retaining the indomitable ethical core of the character. Henry Cavill brilliantly portrayed Superman in both the good times and the bad, in times of joy and love as well as pain and heartbreak. A wide emotional spectrum all of which struck me as genuine Superman.

There are some things which only an actor can do, things that even the most talented comic book artist cannot replicate on the still page.
The way someone moves, reacts and talks can only be suggested by a comic, but an actor can fully realise. Henry Cavill did this for Superman in a beautiful way and made this character that means so much to me more vivid and relatable in my mind. His benevolent influence over my thoughts, word and actions has grown stronger because of this.

I would be delighted if Henry Cavill played Superman again, and if he does not, I will always be thankful for what he has already given me.

That is awesome :yay: Thanks for sharing.

I've come up with this idea how Billy and Clark end up meeting that would make sense, atleast to the little information we might already know. I've thought of other ways but I always come back to this one:

----------

From the set photos, we see Shazam! in the mall during Christmas time. This could be the very first appearance of Billy in action. I see him chasing down villains but things are getting giddily out of control. Things are getting smashed and falling on top each other. His powers are going hey-wire, but he's cheesing and basking in the thrill. Wreckage everywhere. The bad dude gets away.

-This leads to news camera's and the media to the scene. Hundreds of camera's surround Billy just blurting out questions like "Who are you?" Are you from Krypton?" "Did Superman send you" "Are you another threat?" "What's your name?" "Where you from?"

-Action news has hit the Daily Planet. People are surrounding the television screen. Major chatter ensue's. Clark peeks out from behind his desk, fixates on the situation as he locks eyes with Lois at her desk across from his. She tells him to go and she'll cover for him and catch up later.

-Billy is in the middle of all the flashing camera's and his sense's are going heywire. He's getting overwhelmed and clinch's his eyes really, really tight when a child is bashful or nervous.

-Clark arrives and makes himself present in a sea of media mongols as he cautiously uses his x-ray vision to study Billy's organs.

-Billy is getting overwhelmed and sticks his fingers in his ears. We hear a reporter: "Say something! as Billy panics and nervously blurts out:

"Hope is like your car keys. They're easy to lose, but if you dig around, they're usually close by."

-Reporters look around with confused looks on their face. Billy stands there awkwardly, gives a goofy wave and takes off running.

-Clark stares at the ground as he's flashing back to the video camera footage in Justice League. "You know me as Superman. What is your name?"

-Clark breaks his thoughts and looks up. He steps away, pulls out his phone and calls Lois. "Lois, everything is fine. I got it. It's Billy."

"Who?"

"Little Billy Batson.."

------------------

This eventually sets up Superman seeking out and visiting young Billy Batson to "finish their interview.." where he finds out more and gives Billy advice, which concludes his cameo.

That is all the fan fic for today lol.

I'm totally tweeting this to ponymaster

They need to shoot the flashback of Superman making that talk in front of Billy pre-JL, without the CGI!!

I don't think it would work, audiences haven't necessarily seen JL to get the reference and a little flashback to that seems a bit awkward to me...
Also, from the trailer, Billy Batson doesn't seems to know much about "caped crusaders" as he said to Freddy. I wouldn't buy that he's one of this kids from the camera footage.
That being said, having Shazam overwhelmed by media and Superman helping him at this occasion and giving him advice just after that is a nice idea !

they could have billy show up on tv, then clark goes there

by the time clark the reporter gets there shazam's turned back into billy batson and passes him or clark asks where the big red cheese went

simple cameo

Audience's not remembering that bit from JL would be an advantage. It gives them a chance to re-do the scene and do it right from Superman's perspective by still connecting what came before. But if Henry does have a cameo, it might not be to that extent. It could be an end-credit or something quick perhaps. I do want it to be sustainable and worthwhile though for sure.

A cool little thing they can play with is having Clark acting odd when Billy is around. Have him act strange, uncomfortable or even ill. The effects magic has on Kal for the first time would be an opportunity for misunderstood banter and exchanges.

I always thought the "vunerablity to magic" wasn't that it affects him like kryptonite, just that he has no immunity to magic spells.
That a spell cast on him wouldn't be counteracted by his powers, so if it would turn a normal person into a lion, it would also turn him into a lion.

Yeah, basically magic effects Superman the way it would effect a normal mortal, but of course, reacting differently in biology. Superman's powers are based off of science (especially with his Kryptonian energy) and how the biology in his cells react to our scientific atmosphere. Magic isn't Earth based or ruled by science as the principals go against everything that our living atmosphere is made up of.

I always looked at it that when Superman experience's something that he isn't immune to, his senses overreact as his force field and auroa around him spike his senses. Basically magic effects him as to how a severe allergic reaction to certain allergies would effect us. They should play with that in the mythos and/or on the big screen more.
