I'd love to see an iced up Iceman using his ice slides but I'm not sure how likely that is.

If we see that stuff at any time, it's gonna be during the final battle. He's gonna need to whip out some crazy tricks to fight all those mutants.

If this is suppose to be the last film, then I would think they'd go out with a "bang". Then again, the climax in the last film was a big let down. So, it's hard to say. And with so many cast members in this film, who's to say they have it in their budget to go all out, other than seeing the Golden gate bridge crumble.... I refuse to get my hopes up high for the finale on this one.

Why haven't they shown mini tv spots like they did with the last Star Wars? And does anyone know if they are still working on the effects?

I would think there would be a test screening somewhere. If so, how do I sign up?

We'll see. If it's anything like the first two films, then it was a budget issue.

The first film was either hit or miss for the studio. Once they saw that it was a success, they should have upped the budget and the effects - Something they didn't do: And I blame Singer for not stepping up to ask for more from the studio. Now, Singer let the studio call the shots, and here he is, doing another film. It really didn't seem like he cared for the material in the first place, so I'm glad he's gone.... Let's just hope Ratner is as passionate about the X-Men (and the effects) as us hardcore fans.

Budget-wise X3 is nothing like the first 2 films. X3's budget is estimated at close to $200 million. The writers themselves said they could script pretty much anything knowing there's a sufficient budget in place to transfer their ideas to film!

I think it'd be sweet if during the Pyro and Iceman duel... Pyro shoots a huge flame at Iceman and the only way to defend himself is to ice up. Then a huge vapor of steam will come off of Iceman. The leather suit will burn off him and once the fire and steam dies down. Iceman stands up all iced up with water dripping down his face like sweat. "That all you got Pyro?"

Pretty cool, except for the dialogue and the Shawn Ashmore being naked parts.

The way you're describing is a little gay (and wont translate well for the male audience members), but for dramatic presence, Iceman could be getting overwhelmed by Pyro's flames, and by intensifying his cold power to save himself, he inadvertantly changes into ice. He then realizes this ability, and ice-slides circles around Pyro for a knock out (via a hail of snowballs).... That was a little lame too, but you get the idea.

I think what would work is a body suit like Johnny Storm wore in the Fanstastic Four movie. Only black, with a giant X patch woven on it. It's kind of remenicent of the body suit Iceman wore back in the mid nineties...

So if that's the case (which is still $50 plus million LESS than Spiderman 2), I wonder why the writers felt they should add everyone else into this movie, instead of making up for the lack of special effects for the main characters (more iced up Iceman, more CGI Colossus (not metal suit), more flying stunts, more Angel flying, more Magneto power effects).

Even the Hulk movie had more interesting effects than both X-Men movies combined.
