The Official Iceman/Shawn Ashmore X3 Thread

About the whole icing up thing...if ice is solid, how the hell does Bobby move without constantly reforming the ice particles on his body? I'd rather see him ice up certain parts of his body, like the ice spikes on his hands in X-men Legends II.
Uh-oh...Let's not go through that anymore.. :(

Uncannyxmen.net explains the process very well :D!

In short, he merely manipulates the moisture in and around his joints, essentially melting them to the point that allows movement. Everything is constantly melting and solidifying.

Or...he can create soft ice. Who cares, really.

I...*sniff*....care...

The science behind the X-Men is actually pretty interesting... isn't there a whole book written about it?

I think it's called "The Science/Physics of Comic Books" or something like that. I heard about it a few years ago, I don't know where you can find it. Take a look around amazon or something.

I have no clue.

now that I've read a little, that may be innacurate

It says magnetos helmet magnifies the power of his thoughts.

Fair enough. That wasn't the actual book, though, that was just a BBC feature.

yeah. it was just something that i thought was neat, but then was a little dissapointed by. They also botched some info about cyclops power. They omitted the head injury and just said something about him getting headaches as a kid.

i hope they dont over do it......

How could they possibly over do the ice slide? Not enough of it, maybe....

I have the book, it should be on Amazon... its called something like "the science of the X-men"

He freezes and unfreezes water molecules.... I'm dying to see what the effects looks like when he creates his ice slide. I think the effects should look far better than that fire extinguisher look at the museum in X2.

Ha. I wasn't absolutely convinced by that either.

It came off as odd, but I don't know if there was another way around it, given the timing and urgency of the situation.

fire extinguusher haha... i agree to that. but in connection to the first two films i likd his icy effects on the first movie. i just hope in the third they make it more convincingly realistic... lol.

If you mean like how they over exaggerated Spiderman's body movements in the first and second films, then yeah. Most of the X-Men's actions have been pretty stiff in terms of action, and there hasn't been a CGI X-Man yet (Colossus doesn't count because he basically stood still, then lunged forward to punch the soldiers). I'm curious to see how well they translate all that action with the hard to do stunts.

As for him on his ice slide, I hope they have him doing some weird "Frozone" skiing, and jumping onto his slide from time to time. Kind of like ending one slide, then jump on to a new one he creates within that moment in time.

Has anyone confirmed if Iceman will be iced up and ice sliding at the same time?

Nope, we know they're both going to happen but not if they'll happen at the same time.

And as for being like Frozone, I could really do with less of a skating motion on the ice slide but a snowboarding motion. If he does it while iced up, I'll cry. I swear. That's how happy I'll be.

Sounds like Ratner is giving us the real Iceman,Iced-up and ice-sliding.

I can understand that in certain instances he'd have to build up motion, so skating forward on a flat surface is a given. However, I would think he'd have to be in a relatively high place in order to create his ice slide. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of creating it, and we wouldn't see the icycles hanging from the bottom of the slide... A trademark image.
