I was under the impression that this was an action movie...not an epic piece....and what is it with some of you people and the 'score' of the film? I understand with film that it is a great tool to enhance the film, but if the movie is good on its own, I don't care about the score one way or another.

Cool...to each his own....I have never been a fan of cheesy rock music in these films. It gives me the feeling of certain scenes being dumbed down.

Saw RoboCop....I mean Iron Man last night and it was good....not great....but a fun film...that wasn't boring, campy or totally over the top.

Downey Jr did a good job carried this film....without him the film would have been in trouble IMO. Bridges did a good job until the end.....Paltrow was below average and seemed to be mis-cast. Howard seemed a bit weak surprisingly IMO. Seemed like he had a tough time getting a hold of his character like Paltrow. The mumbo jumbo on how the guy saved Stark in the beginning...was a little.....ooookay? 3rd act seemed a bit rushed...but overall the pacing was good. Definitely one Marvels better efforts (especially after the disappointing Spidey 3, crappy FF2, crappy Hulk, ruined Daredevil and Elektra, the unbalanced Punisher, and rush job of a film X3. Finally they make a well balanced, non silly film. GhostRider....ugh! Thanks should go to Favreau and Downey Jr. The score was non-existent and rather weak...too much "rock" used IMO. Didn't have enough of an epic feel for me.

I didn't like the ending with the Sam Jackson introduction as Fury. Mostly everyone in my theater started laughing (in a bad way) when Jackson introduced himself. Bad casting decision to bring in Jackson who has been typecast as the "MO-FO" actor. Maybe it was the assistant theater manager telling everyone to stay until the end ...making it sound like it was going to be BIG surprise. It wasn't....

Out of curiosity, what do you think is better than Iron Man??

OK...there seems to be this divisiveness in music lately,....how exactly does 'Back in Black' by AC/DC dumb down a scene?

So far with Spider-Man and X-men sequels on hiatus for the time being I'm looking forward to more IM sequels.

Fantastic Four, Daredevil and Ghost Rider need to pick up the pace and deliver good stories.

when did Ghost Rider in the comics ever eat jelly beans? SHEEEEESHHH!!
...Who cares? I can't believe you even let a thing like that bug you. Would you have felt better if it was Skittles?

Yeah, I don't get that either. Are you one of those people that listen to movie scores when you drive?

Hilariousness today....I went to go see Iron Man this morning, which was a good idea because the theater only had about 20 or so people in it (10:30 am show). anyway a few rows in front of me there were 4 people...3 guys and 1 girl, I think the girl was one of the guys GF...anyway, she must have been annoying or something because about halfway through the movie 2 of the guys got up and moved away, then after the movie they seemed ticked at the other guy, probably because he bought his GF and she was pestering with questions and stuff

In the comics, Johnny Blaze was kind of a cookie cutter type personality, so I could deal with the jelly beans. the scene where he is standing in his dressing room with the cowboy hat, sunglasses, and walking stick while listening to The Carpenters makes me laugh...

No, I don't...I only do that when I'm ******* Kirbys' wife. :yay: I don't even own any movie score soundtracks nor would I know where to get one if I wanted it. Lately bashing mainstream music seems to be in vogue for those that want to see edgy and creative....you know, those types that only listen to bands you have to crawl through about 4 different websites to find and only watch foreign films....

I was just watching it yesterday and I still love that scene. Here are all these readnecks and heavy metal and flames and extreme and this guy who's supposed to be this supreme badass is standing in his dressing room listening to The Carpenters. It'd be sad if it weren't so hilarious.

I also love "You touch that chimp video or The Carpenters again and we got a scrap on our hands."

Nah, not you man. I mean the guy you were replying to. He seems the type that hates any music in movies that's not elfman-esque or Lord of The Rings or epic in style. You know, big trumpets and basses and wailing European women.

It was an easy pick. Ultimate Marvel Fury is black; black actor that ppl recognize=Sam Jackson.

IMO Marvel has a bang up track record...look at Blade, New Line didn't give a whole lot of money to Marvel for that and they managed to crack out a damn good film....there have been missteps but as a whole I feel Marvel has done a bang up job...and for the record, a lot of people I know who are not comic book fans really liked Ghost Rider...(Marvel was smart in releasing it in the middle of winter with no competition)

Superman the Movie, Batman 89, Batman Begins, (TDK WILL be better haha) X-Men 2, Spidey 1 are all better overall films than Iron Man IMO. Iron Man is on par with Spidey 2 IMO.

I think Iron Man is slightly better than the 1st X Men film and is on par with Blade 2 IMO. I think it is better than Blade 1 and definitely better than Blade 3. I think Superman Returns is slightly better than Iron Man. It's a close one on that though.

Not to mension Ultimate Fury was BASED on Sam Jackson and his likeness with his expressed permission.

Ya....check out 'The Ultimates' books....He is drawn to look like Samuel Jackson (Bryan Hitch used him as the model for the character)

Really? Hm, I didn't know that. Now that you mention it, it's not hard to believe.

-Edit- freaking 2x post, what is wrong with these servers...

Ooookay....??

Yeah, it's talked about in the Sam Jackson is Nick Fury thread. Not to mention the guy has mentioned it plenty of times before along with his interest in playing the character in a movie.

Just an observation; RDJ's hair coulda been tighter on the sides and back. It looked like he was wearing a wig.

Fantastic movie though.

The Nick Fury scene was icing on the cake. :yay:
