Batman Returns is probably one of the worst written films EVER....the dialogue hurts my brain
^^ those Burton batman movies were good movies...good Burton movies. but they weren't good batman movies.
That said, if i have to choose whic i preffer, the Nolan version...or the Burton ones...i have to say i'll choose the Burton ones.
If i may explain, tha batman character to me, fits better in the burton version. In that Gothic setting.Though burton gone way overboard with that setting in batman returns.
The batman character...to me, seems kinda out of place in Nolan's 'reality'setting. To me, it's like making a dracula movie but set in Florida.
As for Schumacher(sp), i read somewhere that he was forced by the studio to amped up the campy elements of the movie.and if i'm not mistaken, there was an interview with him few years back where he stated, that if he were to make another batman movie, he would go the opposite way. but of course, the fanboys wouldn't give him a a second chance.
The thing is, i'm curious how schumacher would have done a Batman movie a second time around. he stated that he would have liked to make a 'year one'adaptation.and if you've seen his other movies such as 8 mm,phone booth etc...you'll see that the man is more than capable of making a dark and gritty movies. Moreover, i think he's more capable than Nolan in making exciting action scenes...which is one of the major problem with batman begins...lameass action scenes.
Just my two cents.
Don't forget The Lost Boys,it was a nice teenage vampire movie IMO!
I feel sorry for Joel now knowing he didn't want Batman Forever and Batman and Robin to be bad movies. If he made another Batman movie that was the opposite of those, then I think I would give him a chance.

I just checked it out and it was good but not great. I'll be expecting more from this film and Transformers was way better than this film. I can't wait for for TDK.

Schumaker is a good director. He was nominated for best director, I believe for Phantom of the Opera, which also was a great film. But those Batman films he did were awful. However I agree that he takes way too much blame for those failures. The studio, producers, etc. are equally to blame.
What I loved about Batman '89 was the whole look. Burton made Gotham look "gothic", how bout that? There's something about Nolan's "realistic" Gotham that falls flat, when you know you're looking at Chicago.

You mean stuff like...."Mistletoe is deadly if you eat it, but a kiss can be even deadlier when you mean it." That line hit about 100 on the groan meter.

Transformers was the biggest kiddie ADD laced movie I've ever seen. You're entitled to your opinion, but you are in the minority on that one.

btw.. some of the flight scenes kinda made think of the rocketeer movie...
Anybody still remember that movie?
I saw it again yesterday after a week and was even more impressed on second viewing. Women are definitely digging Robert Downey Jr. as a more mature leading man, certainly more so than Tobey Maguire. And it doesn't drag for a minute, something I can't say about any other recent superhero flick, including Spidey 2.
I've never been that much of an IRON MAN fan, but I'm starting to think this film may just be the most fun superhero movie ever made.
It's impressively faithful and well-paced, it has perfect casting, great special effects and -except for a couple of minor vulgarities- it's completely "family-friendly."
