This movie is definitely better than Spider-man 1 and 3, and to me, even better than 2. Why? Because they didn't rely on the cliche of having the female play the damsel in distress role at the end... heck they didn't even kiss. And the last line of the movie goes against everything most superhero movies have done.

Well you can't hold the kiss thing against Spider-man. The upside down kiss was a classic moment and straight out of the comics.

IM just played on the Bond/Moneypenny romance angle with Tony and Pepper, which was always a part of the comics.

Even better the second time. Might actually go again tonight!

Ha ha.. I'm feeling oddly addicted after my second viewing as well.

Both times I've seen it, the whole audience has been so into every moment of the movie- roaring at the comedy, cheering at the action pieces and clapping at the ending...

It is just great fun (and almost surreal) to see Iron Man brought to life so well, and see it connect with SO MANY PEOPLE.

Saw the Dark Knight trailer this time as well. Going to be a GREAT summer, this one.

Iron Man was a decent film. Nothing incredible or amazing at all. If you've seen the trailers you've essentially seen the film. It didn't go much deeper than any other Marvel film (not including Hulk), and it was basically standard Marvel fare (something happens to guy, guy becomes hero, guy's girl is threatened/kidnapped, final fight).

7/10

Good review, but I give it an 8/10 mostly because Downey was fantastic in the role, IMO. It wouldn't be the same without him.

I really liked the movie, but I wasn't impressed or awed, though the armour suit looked very cool! But the score felt very generic, cool, but too average, and the ending battle was disappointing. It didn't feel any special at all. To me, the film never reached epic levels, but it was exciting enough to make me want to see a sequel. It really felt like I was watching an standard popcorn action flick, but with the heart in the right place.

X-2 is still the best Marvel movie for me easily.

Iron Man is a great summer opening film for good movies yet to come. I think Speed Racer could get rolled under the bus for the trailer i saw with Iron Man. Prince Caspian says its will be pretty good too.
But Iron Man is teh best 2008 movies so far without a daubt but I have not seen Indy 4 TDK or Prince CasPian yet.

1 Batman Begins.

2 Batman.

3 X-Men 2.

4 Iron Man.

5 Spiderman 2.

Batman? I am a Batman fan too and liked the film but have to say this blows that movie out of the water. I'm also going to say that I'm going to see the Dark Knight movie, that one does look great and the Hulk. But yah this one=Best Super Heroe movie thus far.

I really REALLY want to see Iron Man again, but my wife won't allow it. I might have to sneak to one screening without her knowledge later... :o

I think 10/10 is a little extreme. It was a great movie, but not perfect.

I gave it a 9. My favorite Marvel movie so far.

I thought this movie was going to be bad awhile back, but i should have known better since this wasn't fox driven or anything..when i saw it today i realized how great it was! Really spectacular! i hope the make a sequel, now i am looking forward to the New hulk film, i really hope Marvel continues in this direction of having their films done by them only, I give Iron man 9/10, probably 10/10 after i see it again

you all have the right now to poke me with a stick :woot:

This movie was even better the 2nd time :woot:...it's funny, when you watch a movie a second time you always pick up on stuff you missed the first time round.

And YES I SAW THE NICK FURY CAMEO YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

I saw it again tonight and I have to say it was a million times better the second time around. Awesome movie and it's definitely in my top 3 comic movies.

Begins still takes #1 though. ;)

Ok I've read through this thread and all of the RT reviews and all I have to say is:

I didn't realize that there were so many Marvel/Paramount Studio plants on the internet!

(dodges lettuce and tomatoes)

LOL, just kidding!

Going tomorrow, can't wait, review to come.

I personally enjoyed Iron Man, I felt that it was probably Marvels best movie since Spider-man 2. I was never a huge fan of the Iron Man comics, but this movie was really good and I definitely want to see a sequel.

A 10 out of 10!

Am I the only one who really really liked that they for shadowed that the suit would be able to go into space with adjustments!

I give this movie a 4.5/5

The movie was deep, nicely placed humor (flirted with being too gimmicky at times), consistent story, nice music, good acting (gotta love the Iron Monger), and good overall direction for an origin movie.

When the movie was over i had a huge smile on my face and really had fun. Thats the most important part

I loved that actually. I can't wait till he's able to go into space and under water with that thing.

I gave it a 9. My favorite Marvel movie so far.

I'd probably say that too. I never thought Spider-man (the first) would be topped for me. It's sentimental. However, with the turdtastic Spider-man 3 ruining he series for me, FOREVER, Iron Man is my favorite Marvel movie.

I loved this movie. The ending was a little watered down, but Downey Jr. is the Mother flippin! And I loved his chemistry with Paltrow. I just really like Pepper. :O

Very good movie, awesome special effects. The only thing that bugged me was there was no sweet comic book-ish opening credits, but other than that it was good.

Question: Since this is Marvel's first independent film, is that why the Marvel logo in the beginning said "Marvel Studios" instead of just saying "Marvel"?

I just came back tonight from seeing Iron Man. It was absolutely excellent. So far, its Marvel's best movie (I couldn't stick around for the Nick Fury scene after the credits). It was better than I thought it was going to be. The tone of the movie puts me in the mind of a slightly "lighter" (if you will) Batman Begins. For the most part it was serious and the humor wasn't over the top or out of place. The action was top-notch. I'm definitely going to go back to the theater to check it out again.

Yup.

favorite scene was when he landed to help those villagers, so freaking awesome they he landed just gave me goosebumps, and he started woopin the bad guy's asses was cool too

This one really delivers the goods! Engaging, interesting story and killer special effects. The cast was stellar and used to good effect as well. Very good ending that will segue nicely into the sequel. This movie is going to kick ass for the next couple of months. Hulk and Dark Knight have their work cut out for them!
