And it's not hard to hum that. It's almost the same thing over and over at various levels. It's not like the Spider-man theme that's all over the place. I've only seen the movie once and I was able to pick up on it before that scene even got there.

Hey Pal, I happen to love Elfman's Theme for Spidey . Don't go knocking it down man .

I didn't say it was bad. I love the Spider-man theme. Just impossible to hum it without sounding ******ed. :oldrazz: It really does sound like you're making up crap as you're going along. There's nothing distinct or repeating about it.

Well I can accept that it's lacking to you but there is a theme and it's played several times through the movie in various ways. That was just the most obvious and bombastic of them all. Sometimes it's subtle and sometimes it's big like that. A lot of the time you hear it like a cool low bass almost preparing you for later for that scene where he's suiting up and it goes all out rockin'.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Rewatching that YouTube suiting up clip, all I hear is the typical "building up" crecendo type with non-distinctive guitars. If you say you can hum it, more power to you, but it's just build-up to me. And I'm in good company - there are a lot of people making this claim. That signals that it's not very distinctive.

I just saw Iron Man today, and TBH, It's one of the best superhero movies I've seen since the Spider-Man trilogy.

The story was good, Robert Downey Jr. was awesome as Tony Stark/Iron Man, and the ending was pretty good as well. Overall, I give it an absolute 10 out of 10, can't wait for the sequel! :yay:

harlekin, did you feel an anti-war / anti-US military vibe when you watched IM?

some of the early reviews seem to suggest that that was a subtle theme or tone in the movie......

I'm really excited about the movie, but that might dampen my enthusiasm a bit.......

not really....I felt the point was to show Tony that what he's doing and the direction he took with Stark Industries was clearly not a good one....loved the movie, Downey Jr is one of my favorites even before this so it was awesome to see one of my favorite actors as a hero

It's really a great Movie. And in my personal opinion even tops the Spider-Man movies. Simply because of the fact that I actually liked every character in the movie. Especially RDjr. He was Tony Stark. Maquire just never managed to capture the essence of the character.

I saw it last night and it was great! The best part had to be the post-credit scene just because the audience erupted with applause when Sam Jackson showed his face.:im:

I'm going to watch the movie this friday. I keep hearing that Iron Man does indeed have a theme. So is this theme played during the opening credits? One thing that I've enjoyed about most comic book films are the opening themes.

I don't recall anything distinctive or memorable about the score to IM. But I can live with that.

I know right? All the charcters were likeable and the actors did such an amazing job. Rober Downey Jr. Really was fantastic.

There are no opening credits actually. The movie just starts off (something else it has similar to Batman Begins) and then once Tony is Captured "Iron Man" goes across the screen in the same font as the trailers and posters.

The theme is pretty distinct to me at least because all through the movie it's subtly there. That same bass guitar tune over and over and then when he finally suits up it's full out blaring.

I think my fav music-to-action scene is when he first takes off in the terrorist camp just after the place starts blowing up.

That was a brilliant scene. I love the shot with the Mark I armor eclisped in the twisting fire.

I saw it friday evening. I went into the movie with very high expectations, and the movie went above and beyond my expectations. The only other comic book movie to do that for me was Spider-man 2. Iron Man is probably my favorite comic book movie, about tied with Spidey 2 (although i might just be saying that because spidey is my favorite hero and I'm a little biased).

By the way, I went to see it with my girlfriend. Before we started dating, she never read a comic in her life and new nothing about comics outside of what she saw in movies. Within the past half year or so, she stared picking up a few of my comics. In the end when the guy said
call us SHIELD
she was like "oh my god that is so cool", and I was like "HA! I made you a comic nerd now!" Nobody else I went to see the movie with reads comics, so nobody except my girlfriend and I got the reference. I am very proud of her.

I loved when he was testing the thrusters and launched himself into the back wall....

It was great-

If I had to critique to flaws, and as an Iron Man honk that's pushing it, but I thought the most glaring flaw was the fact that he gets banged around in the suit w/ no injury. Maybe the Ellis Extremis story spoiled me on that particular detail, I got it when Spiderman got his ass repeatedly- he's got powers. Tony got through it pretty unschathed.

Another thing was we didn't get the good build up of Obidiah. He pretty much torutured Tony through the drinking problem and the industry stuff in the 616. I'm glad they didn't have him go out like he did in #200
He blows himself away w/ the Iron Monger repulsors
- that might have been a little much for the audience.

Other than that I got to be 12 years old again for a couple of hours and it came at a good time right now. Great movie, worthwhile repeat view. 10/10

I liked Stanes' little sonic paralyzer device...that was pretty sweet

Which reminds me. Anyone that wants to hear the theme song should head over to the official page for various versions of it.

My favorite version is in the experience section. Dananana dananana dana

Just got back from seeing it:

Not really an IM fan,and have limited knowledge of the characters (other than their cameos in other Marvel media's) so when i say..that this has got to be the BEST Superhero origin movie i have ever seen, my opinion is not bias! The only origin movie i say comes close to it, is the first Blade movie. This Blows all other Superhero origins movies out the water, and is definitely in the league of Batman Begins. I found there was enough character developement for each of the characters to introduce someone like me into the IM world.

I've heard ppl critizing the final battle. Well to me it was perfect. My only thing i thought that could have used improvement was the rock music being played throughout the movie, but everything else was perfect, and nice S.H.E.I.L.D reference by agent whats his name.

Oh, P.S; why does the hero always seem to loose his mask during the final battle? LOL! :D

Question: does the world know that Starks is IM in the IM universe? Or was this just something that was thrown in at the end of the movie? I'm sure in the sequel if his identity is to remain a secret, they'll start off IM2 with the same press conference scene and him saying, he was just joking!

9.5/10

Oh, btw..look what i spotted in my theater lobby..lucky we had a cam on us!

Na, for 40+ years he was Stark's body guard-Only the Avengers, West Coast, and a few others knew. That turn is more in line w/ the current comics run.
