You enjoyed Superman Returns and Hulk more than Iron Man?! Wow! I was nearly bored to tears by both of those movies. I LOVED Iron Man. IMO, it knew how to be what those other movies didn't have a clue about, FUN.

Yeah i did, what a mad world we live in huh? I think differently than you :wow:, :whatever:.

Iron Man was a very good movie, the ones above it in my sig were excellent movies IMO, funny how you dont mention the top 3, or other classics there, but focus on the ones i happen to disagree with most people on.

Meh, what do you expect from an "independent film-maker". He figures he can be all "kewl" by slamming the best reviewed superhero films in years. :yay:

QFT!!!

I just took my mother to see it. Now bare in mind that she doesn't really like superhero movies, so I pretty much had to convince her to go. But all in all she thought the film was GREAT and thought that RDJ was perfect!

We went to a 4 pm showing on Friday, and it was pretty packed. I mean, not completely sold out. But really full, considering what time it was. I would have expected this kind of audience on Monday..but I was surprised and happy. There were some college kids there talking about this being like their sixth time seeing it.
:wow:
I'm stoked at how positive this movie is and how much people love it.

Guys, don´t bite the bait. This CB dude gave away the trollism with the whole audience thing, seriously, to imply only people who liked the crappy stuff he mentions liked IM is so far off the mark (just go to Rottentomatoes and see the respected film critics who liked it), it´s clearly malicious. It´s the kinda troll who poses as serious, but keeps teasing and saying things that are sarcastic and aggressive enough to irritate you, but not enough to get banned, till you snap at him, and he can pose as the victim/superior debator/free speech martyr, even though he relentlessly pushes your buttons to get you there.

Not if you just put him on ignore. I have.

I'm a troll because I described my opinion in a page worth of text using acedemic processes and language?

"It's cool and fun" doesn't really class as a review.

I have seen CB post many times, and although he is strong about his opinion, i would never, EVER consider him a troll.

Both got me REALLY involved in their story, the amount of character development and scene's we got in both helped with this and they are both movies i can totally involved in. This leads to a much bigger pay off come the action scene's, which, lets face it, in both movies, were for the majority stunning (and much better than what we got in IM IMO). The movies also had more emotion than IM in as well, IM only really had it in one scene, when he escapes from the cave, but SR and Hulk had it in bucket loads, and this helps get me involved in those movies, i also found Superman and Bruce Banner more relatable in those movies.

IMO IM is VERY good, it just missed that something extra for me to really elevate it to 'excellent' status. This is only my opinion of course, and i will add that i think IM2 will be able to match those movies when it comes around.

If you go back and check rest of the reviews in this thread, you'll find many reviews that said more than just "cool and fun", and they give rather extensive insight that reveal their feelings toward the movie.

You can be strong in your opinions and still be reasonable and civil. The comment on audiences who liked the movie was anything but that. First, he said the movie leaves the audience underwhelmed, which is ridiculously inaccurate, given the success and high rates the movie gets everywhere. Then he tries to get away with it by putting down the audiences who liked it in the most arrogant and condescending way. It it´s not troll behavior, it´s close enough to kill any interest I could have in debating with him.

OK, well,

2/3 of the action scenes took place in the dark, they made a weak choice for the villain, IMO, and Eric Bana's acting was atrocious, IMO. Plus, the movie was way too slow and plodding, IMO, the dream sequences were way too surreal, IMO, and the comic book panel imagery was way too overused, IMO. Overall, I felt that the movie sucked. And I'm extremely worried about The Incredible Hulk. I think that they've done a very rushed job on it, and needed way more time.

and

First thing: Continuity was inconsistent. I HATE that.

Second thing: Too melodramatically focused on Lois and Superman, too focused on making them relatable from an ordinary human perspective, and forgetting that these are fantasy characters, IMO.

Third thing: Not enough action, IMO.

Fourth thing: No supervillain to give movie action.

Fifth thing: Routh was too much in the background and too vacuous when in the foreground, IMO.

Sixth thing: Superman was too morally weak, IMO.

Seventh thing: Singer doesn't care about the comics, he only cares about sucking up to Donner.

Eighth thing: Dragged, IMO.

Ninth thing: Lois was portrayed horrifically, IMO.

Tenth thing: Kryptonite was depicted inconsistently, IMO.

Those are in no particular order.

i think IM2 will be able to match those movies when it comes around.

Given my opinions of those movies, I sincerely hope not.

I never debate with people here myself. I find it too time-consuming and tiring to type out and read mini-essays. But, to each their own.

I used to do that a lot more in the past, now i generally just post my opinion and leave it at that, and answer when someone replies to my posts. But every now and then certain comments or tendencies on the boards are just too absurd to leave without some counterargument.

I find the absurd ones so absurd that they make my head explode trying to work out the logic of them, so I never bother.

Perfect movie about iron man
cast, crew, director....I wouldn't change a thing about it. and I hope they continue to make more.

especially with the nod to war machine. :)

after 3 weeks of it's premiere...I finally saw Iron Man today. I just did.
it's a great movie. but I was expecting to see him doing more with his Mark III.
but it's the first movie, I understand that. it's great, but SM1 & SM2, X-2 and Batman Begins are still better, imo.

I love Iron Man, and Marvel Studios, SO MUCH, that when i went to the cinema to watch indy4, i purchased a ticket for iron man(giving money to marvel!), before going to indy 4.. getting bored, and sneaking into the iron man showing.

Make Mine Marvel!

Fair enough, i personally have never had a problem with the guy.

OK, well,

Fair enough, we just think differently, for me, SR and Hulk are 2 of the more mature and adult orientated CB we have been given so far.

Given my opinions of those movies, I sincerely hope not.

If IM2 is as good as or better than my view of those movies, we will be getting something special.

:(, Indy 4's boring? :(.

IMO, they were far TOO mature and adult-oriented. A comic book movie shouldn't be so mature and intellectual that it bores the younger ones. I don't know about Superman Returns, but I do know that plenty of kids were bored by Hulk.

Do you think that you're gonna enjoy The Incredible Hulk?

If IM2 is as good as or better than my view of those movies, we will be getting something special.

If by we, you mean those who share your view of those movies, fair enough. Please don't use we, however, to encompass all of us.

This goes hand in hand with the mentality that comic books in general are just for kids. A movie should strive to be the best movie it can be and that doesn't always mean appealing to the widest possible audience. In fact, some times it means the opposite of that.

Comic book movies should be aimed at the action audience though. Superman returns has put me to sleep, literally, somany times I've lost count. If it doesn't put me to sleep I get bored and change channels or walk out and find something else to do. There was nothing in the previews to get me to even consider going to the thearter and it tok almost 10 tries, watching a little peice here and there, to see the whole thing on cable. The first Hulk movie wasn't much better. Iron Man is a good all around action flick with a solid story and a nice fast pace.

I fundamentally disagree with both of those statements. I don't believe that comic books are just for kids, I'm 27 years old. As for movies striving to be the best they can be, sure, but come on, we're talking comic book movies here. I read comic books for entertainment. I go to comic book movies to be entertained, not to be lectured about Freudian psychology, or parental responsibility. Sure these movies should be intelligent, that doesn't mean that they should be pretentious. They're comic book movies. Above all, they should be FUN.

Yes, but different people have different interpretations of the word "fun". Now The Crow, American Splendor, Road to perdition, A history of violence and yes, even the Hulk are all comic book movies who may or may not be fun in the traditional sense. That doesn't mean however that they fail at what they're supposed to do, which is entertain. They prove that comic book movies can be dramatic and thought provoking and that doesn't weaken the genre. In fact it strengthens it and gives it credibility.

Sure, but I just don't see why anyone considers Hulk entertaining. I was bored to tears by it. The so-called "action" was abysmal, and the pace was arthritic.
