Does anything cool come with the dvd this Tuesday? Like in store exclusives?

Target has a book "Bond Vehicles", but I didn't think it was worth getting due to the average special features, so I just got the 1 disc. Other than that, I don't know of any other store exclusives.

As much as I liked QOS, I think I'm going to wait to buy it until it's $10 or less. I just can't see myself watching it enough to justify paying $20 for it.

I really, really enjoyed QoS, more than Casino Royale in fact, I thought it was a great little movie that had something in abundance CR didnt have, a great deal of ENGLISHNESS. CR was just too Americanised for me, and too long, which is a criticism I rarely give to a movie. Not saying QoS is the better movie, I just found it more enjoyable, am I really the only one with this opinion?

I can honestly say that as a whole, I probably enjoyed CR more but having said that, there were undoubtedly parts of QoS that I thought were superior to anything we've seen thus far.

Of course, the other side of the coin was that there were also aspects of the movie that frustrated the hell out of me too.

Still loved it though. Cant wait for the next one, to be honest.

Off topic, Jamon, but what flicks do you normally go to?

I used to go to the Odeon at Switch Island, and before that the Showcase on the East Lancs and Cineworld on Edge Lane but now I go to Vue in Southport. Have you ever been?

It's top notch, mate. Maybe a bit pricey but there's no d***heads there, seats are comfier and people tend to respect the movie watching process a bit more.

Cars always safer, too. :hehe:

The second time viewing of QoS was definitely more enjoyable. It's a fantastic film worthy of the Bond name imho.

I hope the next one is better than QOS and more on a par with CR.
Maybe they should get "franchise saver" Jonathan Nolan to write it.

I think Quantum of Solace is awesome, but especially when watched right after Casino Royale. One big awesome Bond flick.

What extras does the dvd have? I love Bond but QoS is exactly making me run to the store to get it.....maybe it gets better with repeat viewings.

It has rather small stuff really. Disc one has two trailers and the Another Way to Die music video

Disc two has about six featurettes dealing with the boat chase, the director, the music, a start of shooting on Bond on Location, and another on location featurette. They're all really short though. The Longest one I think is half an hour maybe shorter. There's also some crew files that when watched together are a little over 40 minutes.

Maybe it was my audio system or something but I could not understand half of what is said especially Mathis's death speech and Camille's whimpering as the flames close in on her and Bond.

The CGI parachute jump was okay but I could still tell it was CGI. I thought the short running time would hamper the movie but it was okay.

My dad commented on the song that was "Another way to Die" saying that in the past the songs were good and memorable. Now they're not. It wasn't cringe worthy but next time i'll skip over them

But, the franchise doesnt need saving.

Purvis and Wade I'm pretty ambivalent about but I think Paul Haggis' involvement is key.

Let's not forget that he's largely credited with CR's success and only had a limited time to work of the QoS script before the strike.

I sense a double dip in the near future.

I liked the film.

No, not as good as Casino Royale. But, still a good movie.

It was like a cool Epilouge to CR, really. NEEDS to be watched with CR, I think.

A little thin on the plot, and at times too subtle for it's own good. But, it was fun to watch. I liked how the callback to "Goldfinger", too.

By far, the most politically conscience Bond film I've ever seen.

The packaging was horrible on the blu-ray. No second disc, no slip case, thin on the extras.

Good movie though.

Yes it does. Makes it better.

I really liked QoS but the only thing which annoyed me, was the shaky-cam-style at the beginning ( car chase and footchase in sienna )...
I completetly lost track sometimes what was going on. I often watch action movies but that was too much in my opinion..

nevertheless, the bluray is ordered :)

It's probably Foster's 'thing'.

Personally, I would have wanted Campbell to direct again...but whatever.

I did like the action though. I thought the opera scene, when Bond is going through the hotel was a great sequence.

Just watched the blu-ray having missed this in theaters because of the mixed word of mouth. I have no idea why the word is mixed because I thought it was great... especially as a follow up to Casino Royale. They both feel like one big movie now and I hope they continue with the continuity and not just make them all separate adventures. Even with its faults, Quantum is better than any of the Brosnan, Dalton or Moore films.

I sorta agree with you on that.

Certainly better than the Moore films, and the Dalton films.

Better than most of the Brosnan films, although I'm keen on one or two of them.
