The Official James Bond - Quantum of Solace, Pics/trailers/info etc...thread

I sorta agree with you on that.

Certainly better than the Moore films, and the Dalton films.

Better than most of the Brosnan films, although I'm keen on one or two of them.
I really liked Live and let die and the spy who loved me.:csad:
But I agree even though very inferior to CR, QOS is still much better than most other Bond films, if only because Craig is awesome (the best Bond so far imo, and that's coming from a huge Connery/Bond fan) and his scenes and relationship with Dame Judi Dench's M are great.

Anyone who thinks QoS was better than The Living Daylights or For Your Eyes Only is high off a large magnitude of drugs

Oh, now I can for sure say it's better than those two. I thought Living Daylights was boring.

Then I must be high as a kite, because I thought QoS was better than not only the Dalton films, but I also thought it was better than every Roger Moore Bond film except "The Spy Who Loved Me".

After watching it again, I have finally noticed that the movie doesn't really feel like an entire movie. There is something incomplete and thin about it. It is better if Casino Royale is viewed before it, that way they work as true companion pieces. I wish I could change my vote on the poll from an 8 to a 7.

Once again we get screwed with the DVD release. And like CR, not buying until they release the real version.

hey i dunno if you guys noticed this but on the Blu-ray box of the movie... there's 2 typos on the description lmao...

"organisation" and "neutralise"... lol i wonder what idiot should be fired

I saw that, too, but that is the way they spell it in Britain so technically, it is not wrong. Just like Licence to Kill was spelled with a "c" instead of an "s."

Well, there's another movie called License To Kill so that could explain that.

You learn something new everyday. I had no idea.

I liked the film.

No, not as good as Casino Royale. But, still a good movie.

It was like a cool Epilouge to CR, really. NEEDS to be watched with CR, I think.

A little thin on the plot, and at times too subtle for it's own good. But, it was fun to watch. I liked how the callback to "Goldfinger", too.

By far, the most politically conscience Bond film I've ever seen.

The packaging was horrible on the blu-ray. No second disc, no slip case, thin on the extras.

.

The one disc dvd is the worst. It's in a recycled DVD package, with cutouts of the "recycle" logo in the front and back part of the case, so the only thing protecting the disc from getting dirty is the paper insert.

Same with the 2-disc. However, at least that one has a cardboard slip cover...

Oh, so you don't like recycling to keep the environment clean? :cmad: :oldrazz:

At first, I was thinking "wow, they are getting cheap. Look at this cheap DVD package." I figured only the cheap DVDs from the $5 bin had those packages, then I opened up Quantum of Solace and I was like "damn...really?"

Let's be honest.

They're just going to double dip with a Special Editon when the next 007 flick hits.

Re-watching Quantum, I think the biggest problem that Quantum suffers from is just how heavily it leans on Casino Royale.

It goes hand in hand with CR. Quantum should have been packaged along with CR in some kind of a bundle, because it feels like that's how it's meant to be watched. One after another.

Whereas, for example, The Dark Knigh...even though being a sequel, doesn't leav so heavily on Batman Begins. Hardly leans on it at all. One mention of a guy named Falcone, one mention of the mansion being rebuilt...and, that's about it. TDK can stand alone. As if the filmmakers thought, "well, maybe not everyone has seen Batman Begins, so they should still be able to follow everything in TDK."

Quantum...not so much. Alot of things from CR go into QoS.

Still. Love the film.

I don't know what some of the initial gripes about this film were, I loved it. I think the story was good but the villian was bad. It had some great action and Craig was hilarious, and seemed much more comfortable in the Bond character. He had more wit was very much better at the role.

I couldn't resist..i'm not a big fan of QoS, but it is a Bond movie after all...i got the dvd.

The quick cut action sequences are easier to follow on the small screen. The part where Mitchell takes out the guard and attempts to shoot M; in the theater i could have sworn M got shot, but on my tv i see she scurried away!

I can honestly say that as a whole, I probably enjoyed CR more but having said that, there were undoubtedly parts of QoS that I thought were superior to anything we've seen thus far.

Of course, the other side of the coin was that there were also aspects of the movie that frustrated the hell out of me too.

Still loved it though. Cant wait for the next one, to be honest.

Something about CR has just never sat right with me, I cant put my finger on it, overall I just found QoS to be a more enjoyable movie, that tried something different with the series. And the action in QoS is miles better also.

Off topic, Jamon, but what flicks do you normally go to?

I used to go to the Odeon at Switch Island, and before that the Showcase on the East Lancs and Cineworld on Edge Lane but now I go to Vue in Southport. Have you ever been?

It's top notch, mate. Maybe a bit pricey but there's no d***heads there, seats are comfier and people tend to respect the movie watching process a bit more.

Cars always safer, too. :hehe:

Southport is a bit far for me. I mix it up with the cinema's, Edge Lane is the one I mostly go to as its closest, but I also go the Fact in town or occasionally the Showcase as that tends to have films on for longer than the others. It depends on which one has the earliest showing as I mostly go on my own now as my mates either go with their girlfriends or, boringly, prefer to watch movies on pirate. So the earlier times have less ********s, and when you do get get them, I just tell them to f**k off or i'll break their jaw :yay:.

Y'know what - I've never actually been to FACT.

I know people who go all the time but it's just one of those things - I've never gotten around to it.

I'll probably give the brand-spanking new ODEON in Liverpool One a go at some point. My ambition is to try out the IMAX in Manchester in the near future too.

So anyone else get a scrambled disc like me? I'm wondering if it's a problem or if I just got a bad disc.

The Fact is great, you dont tend to get scally's or nobheads in there, its more of a student gaff. I hope to try the Imax cinema at some point as well.

Mine was fine, no problems at all.
