The Official Jimmy Olsen Casting & Discussion Thread

And also let's not forget that both Star Trek and Terminator Salvation came out in 2009. He was able to film both movies at the same time because he was playing a supporting character, which Jimmy obviously is. So I believe he could pull off both Star Trek 2 and Superman at the same time.

Plus there really hasn't been much news on ST2... wouldn't be surprised if the production/release date got pushed back.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jimmy Olsen FTW! :word:

J.G.L is 2 years older than Henry Cavill so that obviously a big NO-NO.

I want Jimmy to be cast somewhere in the 20-23 age range.

Perhaps a not well known actor called Ryan Kelley

The age of the actor isn't nearly as important as how old they look and can act.

I love Joseph but I'm gonna have to say no to that. In fact until another actor is confirmed I just cannot see anyone else in the role except for Anton.

Rupert Grint (with a US accent) for Jimmy Olsen

P.S.: I'm gonna get flamed for this, aren't I?

Favorite suggestion so far.

There's a difference between an actor not having a chance at a role and an actor not having the ability to occupy two spaces at once.

You missed my point... It was that your example and the subject weren't remotely related.

Plus, Star Trek filmed November 2007-March 2008 and Terminator filmed May 2008-July 2008.

Oh, I got your point. Allow me to rephrase: Jaime "didn't see it happening" when it came to Cavill being cast. He also "doesn't see it happening" for Yelchin playing Jimmy. You're discussing semantics. It's not rocket science, you high-fiving mother****er.

Dude, Terminator Salvation was released in May of 2009. So you're saying that they were still filming the same movie two months after it's release?

I think that's just slightly impossible.

That was very, very, very obviously a typo.

There's a very distinct difference between doubt based on what you've heard and doubt based on facts.

Look at this way: You have a quarter and toss it into the air. Someone calls "Heads" and it ends up tails. Then you ask them to guess what hand has a coin in it and give them the options "Left" "Right" and "Both" would you doubt them if they said it's probably not both?.

The point is several actors have filmed different roles at the same time and got by just fine. There is no reason that Anton Yelchin can't play Jimmy Olsen. Don't know why it's being made into such a big deal... oh, I almost forgot what site I'm on.

Anton Yelchin is a good choice.

But I'm in the boat that thinks Jospeh Gordon Levitt is too big for a role like this. It's too thankless of a role for a guy of his age and caliber who should be leading movies. I think most people can agree.

This is a role designed for younger actors who are either up-and-coming or total new comers.

I've never seen levitt as leading man material. He's a bit old for the part anyways.

Well he's gonna be the leading man in 'Looper'. But my point is that he's too big for a role like this and it would be a waste. And yes, he would be too old to play a naive square like Jimmy unless he had a mental disability. :p

The kid from Harry Potter would be great but he just looks reaaaaaaally young to me. Yelchin is the best choice...if not, i have no idea. Many young kids can fill Jimmy`s shoes. Its not that hard to cast the role.

Is it just me or does JLG look more and more like Heath Ledger as he gets older? (and he is getting older, gang. He's already too old for the part of Jimmy)

Yelchin all the way.

J.G.L should be doing more mature roles now like his character in Inception. To go and do a teenage photographer is all wrong. Anton is definitly a good choice.

He would be my first choice personally. Although there are always young teenaged actors who would have the budding enthusiamsm of Jimmy. (Enthusiastic to be in such a big movie and that comes out in the performance as Jimmy)

Rupert Grint is a little too well known and attatched to the Harry Potter movies. I doubt he'd want to do another franchise again. He'll probably stick to smaller movies.

Yeah, JGL is too old!!! Anton Yelchin, Paul Dano and Rupert Grint would be great!
