Upon hearing the Warner would make a Jonah Hex movie, Jane, a big fan of the comics, called some of his friends from the make-up sector, and dressed himself as Hex, with make-up for his face and everything, and send the image to Warner, hoping to be cast as Hex. Josh Brolin beat him to the punch, as we all know.

Thats a damn shame, big fan of Jane and this would have been a great role for him. But Josh Brolin is awesome also.

I was EXTREMELY close to buying this yesterday, but decided not to at the last minute, is this the movie story?

No. The movie has the key origin points but it is a different story to that trade. The movie is a little later on in Jonah's career.

It's a hell of a read, though. Just got it myself a few months ago.

You could do a lot worse than simply checking out the latest issue of Jonah Hex, #42. A solid predicament for Hex to get out of and insights into what formed the character, economically told in one issue with terrific Jordi Bernet art.
