When is this due for release exactly? Watched No Country for Old Men again the other night and think Brolin will be awesome in this.

^Cool, what type of budget are we looking at? I imagine it wont be huge, something like the Hellboy flicks maybe?

April 6, 2010

That should be August 6, 2010.

Presumably, a budget around the same size as 3:10 to Yuma would make sense. Around $50 million. There's really no need to go much over that and it probably makes sound financial sense to try to go lower.

^So its out in August rather than April? Thats surprising, thought something like this would be more suited to an April release to be honest.

yea i dont see the need of the film being over 70million to make.

Yes, August. April was my mistake.

^Cool, may be a bit more competitive in August though mightnt it. April would have less competition I would think.

Might be a bit more competitive, but there's a lot more people going to the movies as well. More adult counter-programming generally has a niche in that period. I expect Public Enemies to do well and Unforgiven, Road to Perdition, Presumed Innocent, and Saving Private Ryan all did well in Summer slots.

A Summer opening probably is a solid guarantee of at least $25 million opening weekend. Considering we're all presuming a modest budget, that's a good bet that Jonah Hex will be profitable right there.

August is better. Specially because the movie will be hard "R".

It will only get a good opening with no competition though wont it, if a big blockbuster opens the week after an opening like that isnt guaranteed.

R-rated movies arent normally released in august though are they?

"R" movies don't have a "release month" like Blockbusters, but August is apropiated.

Big budget blockbusters aren't generally released in August. Not enough weeks left until school starts. Medium sized movies though can still make money.

Tropic Thunder was R-rated. Probably more appropriately, Inglorious Basterds is an August release and I'd think they'd be stalking a similar target audience with Jonah Hex.

^Well thats sort of my point, IB will provide some strong competition for this, were as in April it would definately have less competition.

F&F's type of opening would please WB also if they are hoping to turn this into a franchise.

I'm not sure if I'm following here. Inglourious Basterds is a 2009 release. Jonah Hex is a 2010 release.

Is anyone else surprised we've not gotten more set pics, since the initial Fox ones?

yea i was just about to ask if any one has seen any more set photos. I guess our wonderful set spies havent had a chance to get any more shots. :(

You have every right to be confused, as I made a huge mistake!

I'm sure more will follow, maybe they are being overly secretive?

I really want to see Jonah. I think well get our first spy pic pretty soon

yea more likely then not someone is bound to snape a pic of him leaving the makeup trailer.

I don't think it's that they're being overly secretive, just that Jonah hex is a C list character that no one outside of fanboys really cares about, so there's not as many spies. Unless it's for Megan.

That'll all change once the movie is released and kicks ass, then everyone will want a part two :D
