150 million? Are you crazy? I doubt they put more than 80 million total in this movie. It was a small budget movie as far as I know.

Plus they wouldn't make the mistake of putting $150 into a movie with a character not that popular.

I figured they'd spent alot of money by the fact they got Brolin to be in it. Plus in the previes you can tell they put a ton of freaking CGI into it. CGI in a freaking western!

The "imaginary fighting" apparently is the actual script ending of the film before reshoots.

Simply put, they intercut between the original fight sequence with the reshoot one to create this weird fight scene between Turnbull and Hex at the climax of the film...

I knew the character was a comic but never read it...didn't know the mythos. All I knew of the character was from the BAT episode way back in the day and I don't even remember that episode that well...
I've never read any of his books(was supposed to get a free comic from the radio station showing the screening when the film was over. Was so disgusted I just left. I regret that), but I saw the episode you speak of(Showdown). I also saw him on the JLU show
[YT]wBcyp6xGpyc[/YT]He shows up in this part(Pt 2.) Part1 is on there if you wish to see the whole thing. He's on a Brave &the Bold ep titled "Duel of the Doublecrossers" too.
so to the people that actually saw it:

1. Does he actually have supernatural powers?
Yep. Talks to dead people.

I had such hopes for this movie. This is a big let down. I hate this movie. It's a mindless soulless action movie full of campy one-liners and I hate the annoying obnoxious metal music score which completely ruins the mood, atmosphere and tone of a western. Film scores are so important. Josh Brolin and John Malkovich are great actors and I like the Jonah Hex character and I love westerns so I am hugely disappointed with this movie because it had such potential to be great. It's poorly scripted, poorly directed and poorly scored.

I can only take from that that you actually liked it.

Lol, it was ok, I don't really know the character, outside of that Justice League episode??? I had fun watching it and didn't really take it seriously, it's not the worst movie I've ever seen, 8/10:o:dry::oldrazz::D:up:

Fair enough. I'm sure no one will kill you for liking it. :cwink:

The more people that think that, the better. We don't need this movie screwing up what DCE wants to do in the future.

That's the truth. I hate the fact that when I glanced at the RT critics page that (at the time) most of the 50 negative reviews had the words "comic book" in the blurb.

I popped in to watch a matinee and this thing IS as bad as most are saying.

2/10

It's not even to the level of cotton candy entertainment because, while completely unsubstantial, it doesn't even deliver a sugary jolt of fun. It tries to be grim but comes across as laughable. The comparisons to Wild Wild West hold but even fall short of that abysmal movie. Megan Fox is actually unappealing with a waist cinched up to absurd lows. Even the Hex character himself shows no real skills relying on cheap shots, gatling gun saddles and dynamite shooting guns to get out of trouble. (Yeah, I said gatling gun saddles and dynamite guns) That b-movie bad, even though no one plays it as such, is why I have to give this thing at least a two out of ten. It takes guts to release something this awful in the summer.

BTW- did I see Wes Bentley for 10 seconds in this movie? Did he take a dare to be in a film that is actually worse than Ghost Rider? If so, he did it!

Just watch The Outlaw Josey Wales and imagine Clint Eastwood with Hex's scars.

Longer review later...but, it's not the worse film of the year. It's heavily edited to an inch of its life and you really can't tell what this film is without seeing what was missing.

But, there was a character story about Hex that got cut all the way down to the essentials. There are slight, slight hints of an interesting character/revenge arc.

Brolin's having fun with it. You can tell. Malkovich sleepwalks through the entire film. It's not even funny how horrible he is.

As for Ms. Fox, I'm going to come to her defense again in that she's not even the worse part of the film. In fact, she's solid. Here's the problem. You have to separate the performance from the film. If you do, you see she's just fine. But, taken in context with the film, you could've easily cut her out completely and the film doesn't change. She's there (in this version) strictly to provide a female in the all male cast. Interesting enough, they've softened her face in post-production through out most of the film...and it's odd. It's even odder when you consider there are a handful of shots where they DIDN'T soften her and she looks beautiful. Not sure what the deal is with that effect but I do have a theory. It goes into what I think her story really was before it got chopped to pieces. Long story short, we still don't know about her as an actress because once again, she's given absolutely nothing to do. NOTHING. But, she does, once again, look gorgeous.

I really, truly want to see what the missing scenes where before I pass judgment on it. Still trying to decide if I like the supernatural elements....

5/10...right now.

How the hell is this film only 81 minutes,. was this movie this violent they cut it to shreds, to get the PG-13 rating?

I tell you, WB is one of the most movie company's as of late, but that's just me.

you have to think that maybe the movie's bad from the get-go.

I disagree that WB is the worst because every studio is guilty of it. I do have to admit as of late, it's been worrying (Clash of the Titans). But also, when they're behind a director (Nolan), they're probably of the better studios out there. What studio would greenlit Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity?

The worst one is still Fox. Until they can get their act together (Marmaduke) they still are the worst.

All of you who saw this today should have seen "Toy Story 3" instead.

I forgot how ****ing good the cast was for this; Josh Brolin, Michael Fassbender, John Malkovich...what a waste.

That's right people. Don't make your own decisions. See whatever movie you're told to see. Even if you don't give a crap about it. :woot:

it is disapointing the film does look to be a mess. hopefully a directors cut will help out the film. I do plan to check it out some time soon when i have the time.

Well...to those who have seen it....does Megan Fox still at least have her sex scene? :woot:

If it's as bad as people make it out to be, then that would be a damn shame. This Character had so much potential. If WB gave it as much care & attention as they gave TDK, it would've had the richness & depth as something like "Unforgiven". Wow. Imagine that.

I'm thinking it may just be a rental. Dont even think it'll worth paying the New Release price. Will probably wait til it's a $1 weekly rental.

i havent seen it myself yet, but i think i saw on one of those entertainment shows earlier in the week saying it was cut.
