The Official Kevin Durand/Blob Discussion Thread

I definitely agree. The reasoning of turning to excessive eating is totally unnecessary.

And it's not like Kevin Durand is a big enough an actor to warrant him showing his mug. Rebecca Romijn is arguably a bigger actor and they didnt show her true form until the second movie and even then it made sense due to her abilities.

We may never know.

Maybe it was because they wanted Durand to get some real face time or maybe they thought it would be weird for a really fat guy to join a team of mercenaries.

Actually there is a very good reason for him to turn to excessive eating. Have you even watched the film?

i think you mentioned it in your previous post. And my immediate reaction to it is that it's totally unnecessary. I suspect it's their way of giving Blob some depth and to give Kevin Durand something to work with as an actor.

Well yea I suppose it's a matter of opinion. But the route they took, making them turn to vices or comfort things after what they were made to do in Weapon X makes sense to me. Some people do end up like that after traumatic events. Some people turn to booze and drugs, some people turn to food.

That was my point. Earlier when I mentioned that his fatness was his power and he prided himself on that he was the strongest and most powerful mutant, his girtha and mass was his strength not ''there was a fit man under all that". Oh, I guess it seems they're playing 'Blob has depth' angle with the whole food=comfort:tramatic experience and went into hinding. Original, but not very faithful.

Well comic book Blob is a whole lot of fun for sure. But this version actually adds more depth to him, so I ain't complaining about that.

Sigh...........movie Blob. The things that they could have done....

Kev did a great job with what he had to work with but sadly what he had to work with didnt make a lick of sense.

("Dont make fun of his weight"

"uh ok..I'll just make a bunch of fat jokes but he will have no reaction till I say somethinng to even remotly related to weight.")

Blob should have been fat the whole time not a friggin Hulk who turns to eating.

I really liked blob in the film. How they changed him didn't really bother me that much, or as much as I thought it would. Although I think that his power seemed to change. I actually thought him and deadpool were both funny in the movie.

Umm... was he played by the guy in 3:10 To Yuma or am I imagining things?

Oddly enough, even though the Blob scene in this movie was one of the most useless wastes of millions of dollars I've yet to witness, I actually liked how he was portrayed. It was both funny and believable that this bear of a man would let himself go and turn to food for comfort after experiencing trauma. The idea that this iconic fat supervillain at one point was a muscle-bound powerhouse, but simply stopped caring about his health seemed to have an air of reality to it, and it also made for a somewhat amusing transformation.

If only it had something to do with the actual story of the film... :o

Just got back from seeing it.

I had a question that I wanted to see if anyone else noticed something about the Blob.

When my gf and a buddy of mine got out of the theatre we were talking about the CGI used in the film.

My gf was saying that some of the CGI for the Blob looked a bit noticable. I was telling her it was a fat suit and she was saying that it was of course but during certain movements when he's fighting Wolverine part of his belly moved in a weird way that according to her was noticeable CGI.

Just wanted to know if anyone else noticed this or if anyone knows if they even used a tiny bit of CGI for some of his movements at all?

They definitely used some CGI for his movements. It was mostly his belly shaking when Logan hit him. Its very noticeable in the leaked version, probably because it wasn't finished.

His man-boobs and butt-belly were in fact enhanced for realmotion CG.

Thanks for the answers Deaths Head II and superDROOL.

Saw the movie and the whole seen with Blob was so cheesey, they could have done much better.

other then the lack of explanation on both what is orginal power was and how he got so, fat...

I thought, it was a good use of the character, and he well protrayed acting wise

...did Victor kill the Blob?
Because he makes that "It worked on Dukes" line? I don't think so. If Dukes didn't fight him (like Wraith did), and they used to be friends (which Wraith says they were), then he'd have no reason to kill him and wouldn't.

Dukes gave away the existence of the island though.

I think this can go either way. If Blob never comes back in another X-Film then Creed probably gutted him. If he does come back, then Creed didn't.

I thought that the line "It worked on Dukes" meant that he did kill blob.

That's what I thought but they could have it go either way.

Did anyone else think Kevin Durand did a damn good job given what he had to work with?

I agree I think he did an excellent job. I loved his attitude in the film, it felt very blob-ish to me. As for if Victor killed blob, I'm thinking he did. Creed said to Wraith "it worked on dukes" which implies it. Then again he could have just been saying this but what real reason would they have to bring dukes back? Also as for why he killed him Victor was collecting the people's powers remember?
