the ideal LEX LUTHOR should be played by "Denzel Washington"

he can play that character to a tee, plus this franchise needs a star in it!!

Your obviously trolling or just have a warped sense of humour, I dont care if people class me as racist but Lex Luthor is a white man pure and simple end of.

Maggin wrote the best Luthor ever in "Last Son of Krypton" / "Miracle Monday" (and now, Superman "fans", use wikipedia or google to find out what that is)

WTF....DUDE!!!

NO one thinks STAS Luthor looks like Denzel. The common assertion is he looks more black than white. Clancy's voice also is very...uh...bll...baritone :woot:

I've never heard anyone claim, assert, point out that STAS' Luthor looks like Denzel...especially since that STAS Luthor is bald.

I like Smallville too, but this is getting out of control.

Denzel can be bald, he was bald in Hurricane Carter movie! & yes the cartoon voice is a brothers voice!

think of it,all you see is this huge office with a surounding shark tank a leather chair with this bald head coming from it,then the chair turns around and it's D.W.!! This franchise needs credible actors.

everything all white is not all right, sorry!!!

:oldrazz: You've seen one too many Morgan Freeman movies.

:grin:anyway,he is the ultimate choice, dont you want credible actors in this franchise?

is Brandon Fraizer totally out of the question for Supes??

The problem with making Luthor black is the uproar is not worth the effort. Many will argue against it like it's some kind of comic affirmative action. I don't think any sort of Superman reboot needs that kind of publicity.

Now, I do want credible actors, but I think Brandon is too old now. I used to want him and Selma Blair, but I sort of think they are both too old for a potential reboot. I want Supes/Clark to look young and fresh for a reboot, but not too young. I just don't have any choices in my head as yet. Maybe later...

Still...a black Lex Luthor would be...not a good idea. I can already hear folks griping that they changed a major comic villian to a black person. Did they do it get a Obama? Are they racist?

NO....NO....NO

Assuming you guys mean Brendan Fraser (lol) I think he still looks young enough to pull off 32-35. He could have the look (women seem to swoon over him), has the chops, and we know he can play heroic.

If you mean this guy

Then yes I believe so

My ideal Lex......a billionaire, genius, ruthless, cold/calculating, meglomaniac with ambitions of ruling the world.

I like this vision

However, to achieve the ideal Lex Luthor, we need a reboot. No way we can get this Lex from the one we have been exposed to in SR.

Which would be the Lex all fans of Superman expected. Nothing new (not meant in offensive way Lee) at all here. There is no reason they can't adjust him into this characterization for MOS.

You mean other than the fact that no US bank is going to fund a man who has tried to destroy California one time, and the world another?

Lex is guilty in the worst court: the court of public opinion. There is no way he'd create a billion dollar corporation after SR. I see no viable sales pitch in the conversion between the two movies.

Not offended....and I didn't say it was a new idea....I said that was what I wanted.

I have to disagree with you on that one. If they continue the current storyline, I don't find it feasable to take a man who attempted to kill billions and destroy a great big section of the planet, and turn him into a corporate player.

That public court can be swayed by new technology be it weapons or energy based for Americans. The government would be more likely than you think to let him off the hook to gain this from him. Also for all we know he'll swing opinion that what happened with NK was no fault of his. After all it was obtained from the FOS. So you'll have the large percentage of Superman followers, but some will get swayed and as the technology/good deeds come in to play we could see somewhat of a split in public opinion. All that is needed imo.

i think it's just you, maybe!! if you can find a better actor,an academy award winner who can bring butt's to the seat, then by all means i would luv to hear your choices!!

Oh I know, I just didn't want my comment to come off as sarcastic by stating that.

As I semi-outlined before, there are different ways he can get back into the corporate Lex. Call it a pipe dream if you wish, but I think its quite possible to turn public opinion with a detailed explanation of the technology coming out of Supes secret FOS (weapon of mass dest true location lol)

Further swayed by the tech gained through Brainiac who will later double cross him once again leaving Lex as innocent victim (to some).

I am not saying that the gov't won't deal with shady figures, but I find it too much of a stretch the gov't would trust a guy who almost killed billions at least twice (and sided with the enslaver of humanity in Zod if it counts in the "vague" history also).

It is too much of a stretch at this point. If they tried it, I know I wouldn't buy it. If there is a sequel to be made, better to just cut Lex out or try to continue with the Lex we have established already. Trying to make him corporate Lex will result in more of a jumbled mess of a Donner verse than Singer has already created.

Now Brandon is too old. Some people said Brandon Routh was too young for Supes wtf?

By him being corporate and less of the Hackman on the run undercover Lex... It seems that would stay clear of the Donnerverse and modernize the character more. IT CAN BE DONE!

Better to just cut all losses and just create a new Superman universe. The Lex in SR was basically Hackman Lex with elements of corporate Lex, and the character failed due to this (not Spacey's fault...the role was just uneven...PICK A LUTHOR AND STICK WITH IT!!!)

I just see no logical story method to make him corporate Lex without making me shake my head and say yeah right. This Lex would sooner be tried for crimes against humanity before even getting a newstand.
