The Official Manhunter Thread

I got a little excited when I saw Multiplex then the Squad.

Yeah man love the squad and with BOP on the way it should make for an awesome fight.

Well, I just hope BOP has some more help coming. Kinda out gunned on this one, unless Lady Blackhawk brought the blackhawk helicopter.

So guess who's getting the axe yet again? :cmad:

It's like Kate could take on everything but DC's editors who will never have a clue how to promote her book. In any case thanks to Mr. Andreyko for the effort on a brief ressurection.

*pours out some hennessy*

Yeah, it's a shame, but I can't say I'm too surprised. Alas, poor Kate. I hope Andreyko moves onto a more solid gig, at least. He's a great writer. Maybe he could take over Titans, since he understands interpersonal relationships a hell of a lot better than Winick.

I find his takes on guest stars iffy a lot of the time. The problem is that at some point Manhunter turned into a book that's all guest stars, all the time, and then there's some Kate sometimes.

The Ramsey development seemed like a promising way to get the story back onto Kate.

Those old people are practically guest stars. Kate hasn't even interacted with them at all, or with her own supporting cast, throughout this relaunch.

She's been in Mexico. Kind of a weird story to bring the title back from cancellation with, come to think of it. All the stories are very disparate at the moment.

It was a weird story to bring it back.

I knew it would get cancelled again eventually - sad it is so soon.

But Ramsey has and that counts for something however it definitely was a mistake to go with this story. They should've gone for something a little more new reader friendly if they wanted to draw more fans. The Ramsey thing was the only thing I would've kept if I was the editor. I would've asked Andreyko to go with something a little more basic & simple and centered around Kate, her grandparents and their reaction to Ramsey's development. Whoever gave that story the ok so soon failed and now that's why we're losing this great title yet again.

It seems a little harsh to lay the blame for a series that was already canceled once getting canceled again at the feet of the person who approved one story. Some comics just never really find a big enough audience.

I suppose so at the same time though if you're brinigng something back from the dead it's with the intent of trying to make it work. DC slacked on advertisement I mean does anybody recall seeing any Manhunter ads? especially in titles where she had recurring appearances? (*cough*BoP*cough*).

At the same time though not bringing the title back with a more new reader accessible story cost them an entire audience. It's not just the editor but also Andreyko. I understand that sometimes an ongoing just has no chance but history has also shown us many cult comics that blew up to the point that they never had to face cancellation even once.

That is true, but its all in promotion also. You know how many "sleepers" of a great dc series were cancelled and I found out how awesome they were after? I mean if dc promoted their smaller/lessk nown titles like their big EARTH SHATTERING EVENTS(final crisis, infinite crisis, etc) I think there would be an improvement.

There are a bunch of DC titles Im not reading, cause well I havent heard much on them.
