X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

I don't care about Kelly and Trask.

Mr. Sinister would be very interesting. Though it gives me 1 and done villain vibes.

Because Sinister is a terrible choice for your first X-villain.

I don't trust the MAGA execs to allow Trask and Kelly to be shown in the most relevant way.

In fact, I fear they are cribbing 97's notes, and making a bad adaptation even worse.

Remember guys we won't have to worry about the Director sending CockyBoys pics to staff to showcase their ideal superhero body for reference. :o

Those are logical villains, it makes sense to use them
Mr. Sinister is way overdue for a film appearance! One of the remaining X-Men big villains 20th Century Fox didn't adapt.

In hindsight, Fox should have released X-Men: Sinister instead of X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Doesn't change that Sinister is a terrible choice to re-establish the X-men.

Also, Sinister concerns me, in that I can see him all too easily leading to TERF friendly stories. I am currently nervous about the current adjectiveless run for similar reasons.

We're likely to have to endure Chambit for many years.
The man’s 45 right now, and by the time they actually get around to making and releasing a solo X-Men film in the MCU, he’s going to be pushing 50.

Marvel Studios has made some pretty boneheaded and desperate decisions as of late, but I don’t think they’re that stupid and desperate. They’re smart enough to get somebody new and not cast an old Gambit just because people liked his small appearance in a previously successful film.

Mister Sinister has been a villain for decades. He's not a new character. If his presence was really going to lead to a bunch of "TERF friendly" stories, it would have happened by now.

I watched his appearance in Welcome To Wrexham and Ryan Reynolds was talking about how freakishly athletic and flexible Tatum is for a guy in his mid forties. Tatum had no stunt double for this commercial.

I feel like all the X-Men from the Foxverse will be recast in the MCU. This Avengers appearance will probably be the swansong for the old cast.

I can see why they might use Sinister. He is a good physical threat, has a long history with Cyclops and his mad geneticist stuff could tie into the themes of the movie. They should introduce the Marauders and do the mutant massacre.

I was wondering what that movie was supposed to be and which characters aside from Kitty they intended to feature. At the time Simon Kinberg was still doing those unnecessary films set in the past. While the OT X-Men were either killed off screen and on screen in Logan 2017.

I could see them doing Sinister then bringing him back in a later movie and having him working behind the scenes in between appearances.

If they're doing the sentinels, then it would be the perfect opportunity to bring Justin Hammer back into the MCU, given that he was not as incompetent as Ironman 2 tried to pretend he was. Hammer's issue was software, not hardware, so having him partner up with the right people could make him a valid threat. Also Hammer would tie the X-Men movie back to the wider MCU plus he would want to fix his reputation, so having him help build the robots that "protect" humanity against mutants would be a way for him to try and do that.

The first antagonist should be a human whose superpowers is hatred and bigotry.

Graydon Creed is literally right there and writes himself.

Graydon Creed would make sense as they establish mutants within the main MCU timeline. However he's a bit of a chicken and egg character in that he's born from mutants but mutants don't exist in the MCU yet, however he would be the type of character to whip up hatred against the mutants as they start appearing in the MCU.

i was thinking when I saw Hunter Schafer is allegedly being considered for a legend of Zelda movie and I thought…gee imagine if a Nintendo movie was more progressive than an x-men one :clown:

I guess it depends on how into the lore you are. Bolivar Trask is linked to Sentinels, and is the most famous Trask. Gyrich tends to be your national security guy, but tends to be more antagonistic than Val Cooper. Kelly is your anti-mutant politician, and his portrayal has wavered, but generally some portrayed as "convincible". Graydon Creed is your straight up David Duke, your gutter trash racist. Friends of Humanity is your neo-nazis/klan of the 90s. OG comic Stryker tends to fill the same role, with the Purifiers taking a more religious approach. The Sapien League and the Leper Queen are more obscure, and not that different. Stephen Lang is also linked to Sentinels, but people seem to prefer Trask to Lang. Cameron Hodge big deal is the personal betrayal.

Honestly, I feel Stryker and the Purifiers are a better update for the modern day. I still love with how The Gifted portrayed the Purifiers as a modern day militia, with very visible sweatshirts. Because FoH needs red hats, and that will be a no go with Disney.

if Trask is indeed on the first film, this is clearly a sign of Feige/Marvel wanting huge battles against the sentinels.

Since years ago, thats exactly the type of first X-Men movie I would expect from Marvel Studios, since Fox never really did a full out X-Men vs huge sentinels movie (Dofp was kinda like a What if movie to me), so..... makes sense. Mr. Sinister + huge sentinels + a politician secondary villain sounds like the perfect balance for a huge X-Men movie and worldwide hit, to me. Hope the script is great and the director makes it justice.
