The Official Mega Man Thread

A Mega Man revival is inevitable. As much as Capcom is known for letting their IPs die, that one is simply too iconic to let die for good, similarly to how Sonic is pretty much the only real classic Sega IP left. I think it's a good chance that'll be the IP, but at the same time, I also wouldn't be surprised if they let it lie longer, just to see how Mighty No. 9 actually does before doing anything.

I'm currently working on a project that consist of Megaman, we're not looking to make any profit at this point in time, but we ARE hoping that over the course of the next year or so, we could possibly present it to Capcom in hopes of them allowing us to reboot Megaman and have everything on one accord. It sucks to see Capcom kinda brush aside one of its longtime characters.

that's cool. Good luck with that although Im not sure how much success you'll have with that as there's already been MM projects done that they haven't done anything with, likely bc they don't care

Roll Chan Evolution Is The Closest Thing We Got To A New Mega Man Game In 2013 . January 1, 2014 . 1:45am

If you’re nostalgic for a Mega Man game check out Roll Chan Evolution. A romhacker edited the original Mega Man and made Mega Man’s sister Roll a playable character.

23 Thoughts Read >

Technically last year was Mega Man’s 25th anniversary, but Capcom said the celebration would begin in December 2012 with the release of Street Fighter X Mega Man and continue throughout all of 2013. Capcom made a cool statue, worked with Udon to translate art books, and re-released some games on the eShop.

If you’re nostalgic for a Mega Man game check out Roll Chan Evolution. A romhacker edited the original Mega Man and made Mega Man’s sister Roll a playable character. Roll has an arm cannon that shoots hearts instead of spherical pellets. Unfortunately she doesn’t have her Marvel vs. Capcom 2 secret power – crouching.

Capcom 2013: We will be giving gamers an old-school, iconic retro game that we know you all have been anticipating!

Me: Is it Mega Man?

Capcom 2013: NOOO~~! It's Duck Tales! HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY, STREET FIGHTER!

Capcom 2014: We will be reviving an old IP you guys are going to be really excited for!

Me, 2014: You guys aren't bankrupt yet?

Mega Man, or ****...

All this talk about Mega Man across three different topics right now (going on here, at the Wii U thread, and the Mighty No.9 thread), plus me listening to my MM music collection, has put me into Mega Man nostalgia mode, and I've realized I've played and beaten a s*** ton of Mega Man games...

EXCEPT

  • Mega Man & Bass (to this day, have only beaten ONE Robot Master)
  • Mega Man Zero 1-4
  • Mega Man 7 (never can beat Dr. Wily's FINAL form, even with his weaknesses)
  • and especially Mega Man & Bass (did I bloody mention how I never beat ANY OTHER ROBOT MASTER in that game since my last playthrough attempt? Ninja Gaiden's got nothin' on this one Mega Man title...)

I think Megaman 7 was the first Megaman I beat. I remember how hard the final Willy robot was. Took me so many tries and all of my tanks and energy.

Only Eight Copies Of The Gold Mega Man 4 Cartridge Exist, And It’s Worth A Fortune. August 13, 2014 . 5:02pm

Mega Man 4, or Rockman 4 in Japan, has been out for almost 13 years now, but not many people know about the existence of its super-rare golden cartridge.

Mega Man 4, or Rockman 4 in Japan, has been out for almost 13 years now, but not many people know about the existence of its super-rare golden cartridge that was given away in very limited quantities. Inside Games shared its story, which was recently featured on a Japanese TV show.

The game was featured on the TV show, Kaiun! Nandemo Kanteidan (which more or less translates to “Good Luck! The All-Appraisal Group”), which has been airing for about 20 years now.

The premise of the show is about a group of professionals who appraise all kinds of different objects presented by various people, from celebrities to local farmers.

In the latest episode of the show that aired on August 12th, a famous illustrator by the name Yo****aka Enomoto was featured as a guest. While he is known as an illustrator, manga artist, and painter, his most prized possession is the golden Mega Man 4 cartridge, which is something he’s had since he was a young boy.

Back in 1991 when Enomoto was still in middle school, he entered a contest held by Capcom to design a boss character. Out of about 70,000 entries, his design for “Pearlman” was chosen for the eight bosses to be featured in the game, which ended up being the “Brightman” Mega Man fans all know today.

After winning the contest, he and the seven other artists were awarded special golden cartridges for Mega Man 4. These copies were never reproduced, and were considered quite the collector’s item at the time.

20 years later, Enomoto decided to find out how much the cartridge would be worth today through the TV Tokyo program. Contestants in the show start out with their own figures before the appraisal, which Enomoto went with a humble 78,000 yen ($761).

As it turns out, the team of appraisers started out by saying that the regular copy of Mega Man 4 would have the value of 700 yen ($6.85) but since Enomoto’s was such a rare copy, they decided to give it a whopping 400,000 yen’s value (about $3,900).

The report doesn’t mention whether Enomoto decided he’d like to sell the cartridge or not, but given its sentimental value from his earlier days as an artist, it’s safe to assume that it’s being kept nice and cozy by the original Brightman designer.

Mega Man X4 is probably my favorite MMX game (oddly, since I know X1, 2, & 3 were ALL better). But alas, Mega Man X Collection, so...

I may have to get it. Megaman X4 is my favorite in the whole series.

it did but most people say it was the worst of the installments. And that stuff started to head down hill during X 6 cause Inafune didn't even want to do x6 Sam Rami event with venom there with Inafune .

Considering Capcom refuses to put out an original title for this, I really wish they'd at least release another collection. The last one was for the PS2/GC/Xbox. I wish they'd make a new one that was up to date to include 9 and 10 in addition to Mega Man and Bass which never got a home console release outside of Japan. Give the games HD borders and graphic option like many of the other old re-releases. Id be all over this.

Back when I still had a 360, I would probably bust out that Mega Man Collection once every couple of months. Obviously I agree that they should put out a new collection. Doubt they'll do it though. They assume they'll make more money by selling them individually, which I disagree with. If you're selling them individually, the vast majority of people are just going to pick and choose the one or two they like, whereas those same people would pay a lot more for a collection because it seems like a better value even if realistically they'll only play those one or two games on it.

They're only selling them on Nintendo's platforms though and from my understanding those are simply ports. The Xbox has nothing and I don't think Mega Man 8 is even available on PSN, so PS3/Vita/PS4 are shut out. I know X4 and X5 just got PSN releases but that itself could use a collection

If they ever did come out with another Collection, I hope they get it right this time. Too much lag and a few missteps with songs and boss patterns. It's nice to have, I guess? I own it on all of the systems(Xbox, PS2 and GC).

The X Collection is much better. While not perfect, it is a LOT better than the classic Collection. If you wanna play the classic series, you're better off buying them individually on the eShop or PSN. Those are the actual ROMs.

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne Is Getting A PSOne Classics Release. May 5, 2015 . 8:28am

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne has been rated by the ESRB, with the PlayStation 3, PSP, and PS Vita listed as platforms.

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne
has been rated by the ESRB, with the PlayStation 3, PSP, and PS Vita listed as platforms, which means that the game is likely being released as a PSOne Classic at some point in the future.

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne was originally released in 1999, and is part of the Mega Man Legends series of games. It is a prequel to Mega Man Legends and features three different play-styles, depending on the mission you’re tackling.

No doubt a bunch of people are wondering why Mega Man Legends itself hasn’t been made available on newer platforms. The answer to that question can be found here.

You know, usually I would roll my eyes at you starting a thread about this like I do a lot of threads you make just to more or less be the sole poster, but I'm okay with this one for some reason :o

lol I wasn't doing it to be the sole poster. but I'm happy I made you happy for once.

http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregama...nne-now-available-on-north-american-psn-store

It looks like they stealth released it today. And in news I find surprising, they also chose to release it at the standard $5.99 instead of the $9.99 they have in the past for rarer and/or more desired games.

There it is, go and play my game, children. You can play it on PS3, PSP, and the Vita. PS4 people are too poor for me to care about
