It won't bother me if they turn the clone into the grown up Lex. Lex had clones or other bodies in the comics more times than I can count. It won't be a problem for me if they go that way.

Yea I still have no issue with the clone becoming lex if that is what going to happen. Has been done in comics. Plus the clone has all of lex memories/emotions/developments. So he is lex. I don't see why that's a bad way to go. It works for the show. Fixxer why do you think its wrong. Really I don't see an issue with it one bit. For all attentive purposes the clone is lex. Like the clones in comics to brain transfers in comics. He is lex through and through.

it all depends on who they cast for lex. he has to top micheal.

i just read a recent interview with the producers and they have been begging micheal to come back and he refuses to give a yes or no. seems they are willing to try what it takes though, so hats off to them for that.

i don't think he's returning guys, he's being an a** IMO. he owes his fans a return as far as im concerned. recasting is really going to suck. i hope the writers have something good up their sleeves for lex's return by seasons end.

Fixxer actually that news is old. First cbm/supermanhomepage were talking about this a few days ago. But the article they cited was quoting old information from that assignment x. Brian/kelly interview which ksite revealed was taken during comic con time frame. As for michael returning sure its likely slime chance. But I wouldn't rule it out totally yet. Since filming for the finale wouldn't happen to april and there is plently of time for things to be settled.

Plus with that information being old. We have no clue what is really going on right now. I still think he is likely to show up. Would be foolished to do the aging clone storyline if michael hasn't made some sort of deal. But only time will tell if michael is back. Also like I said before and others too. Even if a deal was in place already they might not want to reveal it offically to closer to episodes appearance.

I sure hope so. Without Lex there doesn't seem to be that Destiny/equal villian feeling to the show. Even though they have done Zod, Doomsday, and now Darkseid, Lex seemed to be his "destined" enemy for all time and he helped carry the show. He was a great actor as Lex and this show has never been the same since he left...

im willing to bet he will not return and there will be a recast. sorry you do not agree.

Ah no problem fixxer. I do hope he returns. Still crossing fingers there.

I second that crossing. Rosenbaum needs to return and I hope to got they don't turn the clone into the real Lex.

To take a scrap from Smallville's way of writing, I think they could just do what they did in the comics -- remember how Lex 'died' of krypto-poisoning and 'came back'? Hell, Lionel looked an older version of that from the get-go, so the producers probably had some knowledge of that.

Lex returns to Metropolis, and pulls a classic quid pro quo on Clark's new identity as Superman; he pulls a 'Birthright', denying his time in Smallville and publicly refusing to acknowledge being friends with Kent. In the end, he's the real manipulator, a man who feigns ignorance but knows the truth about Clark Kent. That mystery he tried to solve in the pilot comes full circle with distorted complications.

Luthor's a schemer (heh) so pulling off a multi-layered deception isn't impossible story-wise. Imagine: 1. the public thinks the real Lex is back and renames LuthorCorp into LexCorp from his first tenure, he also announces his new interest in politics. 2. Lana gets a job at LexCorp thinking about keeping an eye on the new benign Lex. 3. Clark and co. are led to believe that this is actually Lex's clone and that he's harmless. 4. In reality, this is the original Lex and he's fully aware of Superman's alter-ego. He will play the card for as long as he can, a new age of super-heroes have risen and he needs to up his ante. Only the audience is aware of the truth.

I know it's pushing it, but that would satisfy me a lot.

i dont have any issues with the clone becoming lex deal, happened in comics and they have it all set up now in the show. So its not a bad idea.

yeah only in the comics Lex had his brain transplanted into the new body as well.

Someone finally says it!

In the comics Lex is Lex is Lex. He was dying of cancer and he used cloning technology to grow a new body around his healthy organs. At the end of the day the original was stil alive and kicking.

What Smallville is doing is saying that the original Lex is dead and gone but not to worry, we made a copy!

It would be like if Clark died at the end of the Doomsday story and they came out and said "Don't fret, y'all, we made a backup! He even has all of the original Clark's memories!" and they trotted out a new Clark and everyone went "Yay!" as the puddled up remains of the old Clark steamed in the background.

well the thing there is in the comics he had his mind/memories/emotions and all that. So even if there was a copy and original is still around. Yes the original one is there. Sure from what we been told real lex is dead. But all the clones had all of his memories from when they were cloned(also probably were feed more news too since old clone new about the blur/lois connection). So really he is still essentially lex with all memories/emotions and all that. Its just a different twist on things.

Brave new world, with such consumerist principles in it!

Yeah...wait, isn't that what Grant Morrison suggested at the end of All-Star ?!

If they really were going to do a clone-saga it should've been more akin to the Death and Return stories than simply taking tidbits from it. When the show started off there was a point when I thought that they would use Lionel like that - as the 'real' evil Luthor eventually making Lex's character pointless. In fact, they hinted at that a lot around season 4, what with Lionel switching bodies and all, and being the closest to baldness he would ever go in his life. But in the long run, it's better that they didn't go down that path and chose to show Lex's gradual fall to malice. I'd be perfectly fine if they pull off a traditional super-villain twist and show that Lex really is alive and well and that the clones are just distractions. Everything would work out well if Rosenbaum comes in for the finale, he ought to do it for the character he helped reinvent for seven years. That, and his fans of course!

First congrats to michael scoring guest role on that fox mid season show. Would be cool to finally see him again on something. Second I saw the ausiello news saying its still looking good for michael possibly return for finale. I do hope if the fox show gets more episodes that wont interfere with scheduling michael for sv.

Hey that's GREAT NEWS! He should definitely consider hard about returning for the finale. And by hard, I mean shave his hair off.

Well as nice as it would be for him to shave head. It probably would be best for him to just do bald cap. Or if the clone does grow to be lex since theybhad his hair grow back just temp dye michael hair organge.

In other news I did see on ksite this morning, reguarding michael on the recent ausiello rumor about producer optimistic on his return. Michael said on his twitter page he doesn't know where folks getting info and he hasn't talked to producers in awhile. Personally I still hope michael will be back and you know just playing coy on twitter. Cause ausiello is usually good with sv scoops.

I looked into Michael's tweets a while back just for kicks, and he's the kind of guy who jokes around a lot. I hope this was one of those!

Ya I do too man. But that is issue we don't know what is up with him. Now in the past he was always saying no. Then once season ten started his mood has changed to maybe and all that. So I do hope he is just being coy to cw/producers are ready to announce. Plus like some of us have said if he is just in finale it wont be shooting to april which is still a few mont away.

Wouldn't it be really ironic if Michael was offered and/or landed another role that required him to shave his head. :hehe:

if we do not hear confirmation by april id say they will recast.

It's Smallville, if they do recast they'll probably get someone who's a lot older and chubbier to go with the Man of Steel look, but im still against that. Bring on Rosenbaum! If anything, make him fat.
