now that we've got word that Ursa might be in the film, we have to assume Zod will be also...

...discuss Zod and who you'd like to see him played by.

Not the biggest of Zod as a villian simply as a case of been there, done that

But loving the Michael Shannon casting, that guy is a class act and is a superb actor.

They're really going for the acting big dogs in this film aren't they?

Truth be told we don't know just yet what role Zod will play. Brainiac could very well still be present, and I don't think it would make it too busy.

I stand by my theory Brainiac is in this movie.

Zod will become Brainiac.

It's like the Ducard/Ras deal with Neeson in Goyer's BB script.

this is a pretty awesome cast they got going here.

I hope Zod doesn't become Brainiac, that's half ass.

Yeah thats what I've been saying for a while

Yeah, Zod becoming Brainiac would be extremely unimaginative. And highly unnecessary

Decent casting, thought he was going to be Luthor. I find it hilarious that we heard how different things were but Zod and Ursa are going to be villians.

I think once we actually get a pic of Shannon in costume people will see that this Zod will be a totally different character than the shiny, v-neck wearing, balding Zod of the past.

And for the people saying Zod isn't the same as the Joker etc its fine to make that comparison based on what people are objecting for against Zod. Heath Ledger's Joker is nothing like Jack Nicholson's he was extremely entertaining in a different way and thats what I'm expecting with Zod aswell.

do we have to have "Official" in these thread titles? if you think about, they're really not official...hehe

that being said, now that Zod is cast it seems like the reports of casting for Ursa have some weight to them now. i wonder who got the role...

people are complaining about seeing zod again, but if he's the best villain for the story, I'd hate for him to be off limits just because he was in a superman movie 30 years ago.

im sure they are trying to play this out similar to batman. Zod forces Clark to become superman. Plus sequels usually end up with a bigger budget, i would think Brainiac would require more money to pull off effectively.

You know when I was a kid I thought Zod's costume was made of bin bags haha

I'm hoping his costume is more like this:

I Like This. We Will See A Different Take On Zod. Maybe.

Can someone point me in the direction of some good Zod stories, so I can pull myself back to positivity...

Trying to have faith, but everything i've seen/read of Zod has not excited me so far...

I'm sad that Gerald Butler isn't playing Zod. He could've been awesome.

:csad:

For me, that's not really what my analogy meant. Between Joker appearances, we got 10 or more Batman villains, Superman hasn't gotten anything beyond Lex & Zod, so including them again, after the main criticism of SR being it's homage to Donner, is what most have an issue with.

I'm pretty sure this incarnation of Zod will be different, and most likely better. That doesn't mean I still can't be of the opinion that Brainiac, Darkseid, Metallo, Parasite or a whole host of other villains couldn't have been just as entertaining.

I actually think Butler is a good actor, but Shannon is levels above him

Butler would've been good, but also predictable.

This is far more interesting imo.

Does this mean that we will have The Phantom Zone too? Or will they come up with a new explanation for how Zod arrives on earth? Or even go the clone route?

How is this movie going to stay grounded in realism again?
