Also lets put it this way. ZODS AMERICAN BOYS AND GIRLS!

Doesn't actually matter but that probably means he will be even less the Donner Zod.
Shannon may be better then Butler in presentation. He doesn't look like he's going to be taking down a bunch of guys but the power of the yellow sun makes looks deceiving. Then again Shannon might be hitting the gym for the next few months and come out ready to rip a guys head off with his pinky.

haven't seen anything shannon has been in so ill trust the praise from the forum. wish we had gotten a different villain.

ZOD?

What is going on? Im sure he's a terrific actor and all, and kudos for going for all the oscar winners nominees only route :whatever:

... but Zod? Seriously? Really? Again???

There are SO MANY villains from the universe to choose from, Metallo, Darkseid, Doomsday, personally I would have wanted Brainiac but nevermind.

Very good actor, question will he put on a british accent?

Its all very weird, oh and one more thing? Why is everyone so thrilled about Amy as Lois? Really? Everyone? Am I the last man on earth who thinks visually there were a thousand more ladies that would have suit the role better.

Perhaps she knocked their socks off in the audition, I dont know. All I do like about the Lois casting is that the got the age right. Other than that she jst looks like Lana Lang to me, red head or not.

<V>

Right, i'm not going to whine about it anymore, as it's pointless me doing so.

Thinking Positive: We have a great Ma and Pa, Clark and Lois are perfect, and it's an origin story - those are all very comforting thoughts.

There had to be at least one announcement I didn't like... this is the one... it's the one I was dreading, and one that makes me annoyed Snyder denied it giving me a false sense of security.

I don't get it... but the movies not out until Dec 2012, and we know barely anything about it... so I will hold off all judgement until then.

you don't know they're NOT using Brainiac. just because they're using 1 villain doesn't mean they won't be using any other ones. Batman Begins had 3, the Dark Knight had 3, and up till now we don't even know how many villains TDKR really has.

if they're not using Brainiac in this one, that kind of sucks...but at the same time, i wouldn't want Superman going up against the likes of Brainiac in his first big adventure. seems too daunting of a task even for Superman.

does anyone really want braniac to share screentime with zod and an origin, along with introducing the fairly large supporting cast?

The script has a huge Kryptonian mythology as earlier reported.

Brainiac is still possible. I wouldn't be surprised if the Krypton stuff is the film's main focus as I've been saying all along.

Agreed.

I knew this would happen, i.e. people complaining about Zod as the only villain. But we don't know he's the ONLY villain. We know nothing about the story, except that it'll be an origin.

Calm down guys, okay? Think a little bit.

No I totally get that we havent really gotten to see Supermans rogues gallery much in live action and especially in the movies but I am happy with Zod. In some ways Ra Al Ghul isnt the most interesting Batman villain yet he worked extremely well in Batman Begins which laid the foundation for the next Batman movies with more villains so maybe this will happen for Superman.

I just cant wait to see a Super smackdown :D

You and me agreed on this earlier. To me it makes the most logical sense. Zod is tied so close with his Kryptonian heritage, and has equal powers, it will create a great origin story. I think this is a good thing.

Save Brainiac and Metallo for the sequels. I want them very bad, but I want to set up a great Superman first. Then his main rouges.

Ir would be awesome if braniac was foreshadowed for the sequel like joker was in BB.

i think Brainaic might be too big for this first movie. if this is an origin story, theyll have to spend a lot of time setting up the character so i would perfer they keep Brainiac for the sequel when Clark has been superman and all the other characters are already introduced. Though i do hope they introduce Brainiac at some point. Whether its on krypton where they talk about the system or if its at the end of the film, similar to the joker card.

I think other villains would have been more realistic...

When you suspend disbelief to accept a flying, super strong man from another planet, you've already accepted that others like him can exist. Within the context of this movie, Zod is just about as realistic as a superpowered villain can get.

Exactly. The 'realistic' villains work for Batman because he's just a human. Superman is, practically, a god. His enemies need to be just as, or more, powerful than him or else there's no threat.

There are already 2 villains. Does anyone really think Lex won't be in it?

I think Lex, Lois and all the Metropolis characters have minor, secondary supporting roles as earlier reported.

The Krypton stuff is like the main focus IMO.

thinker: how would lex react to two supermen beating each other up in metropolis?

The most realistic villain Superman has, other than Lex, is Toyman.

The villains should be larger than life, just like Superman himself imo.

I guess you guys are right... and I do like the fact that Zod is connected to Clark through Jor-El, which sort of creates this very human conflict...

I guess I was just hoping for less focus on Krypton and Jor-el and the Phantom Zone and more focus on Clark and a world of human corruption (intergang, Lex, with meta-human villains).

he would create his own weapon to defend earth from those men=metallo!

He was actually one of my top choices as Green Goblin in the spider-man reboot...I never thought of him as Zod though. Im excited because he is a really good actor!

Great casting, poor choice of villain. Didn't snyder say this was supposed to be completely different??
Anywho, i'm holding out hope that Zod is just one of maybe two or three villains we'll be getting. ( other than Lex )

Michael is great, but I couldn't care less about ZOD. However, I'd be fine if ZOD had a new look and more of a threatening villainous personality. I'd still love to see Brainiac. What would be great is to see Brainiac being constructed through out the film and at the end we see him fully formed before the credits roll...Great to see Michael back in the spotlight though, he really deserves it....Oh, I can't wait to see who's playing Lex!
