The Official Michael Shannon IS General Zod - Part 1

For me, that's not really what my analogy meant. Between Joker appearances, we got 10 or more Batman villains, Superman hasn't gotten anything beyond Lex & Zod, so including them again, after the main criticism of SR being it's homage to Donner, is what most have an issue with.

I'm pretty sure this incarnation of Zod will be different, and most likely better. That doesn't mean I still can't be of the opinion that Brainiac, Darkseid, Metallo, Parasite or a whole host of other villains couldn't have been just as entertaining.

No I totally get that we havent really gotten to see Supermans rogues gallery much in live action and especially in the movies but I am happy with Zod. In some ways Ra Al Ghul isnt the most interesting Batman villain yet he worked extremely well in Batman Begins which laid the foundation for the next Batman movies with more villains so maybe this will happen for Superman.

I just cant wait to see a Super smackdown :D

I like the idea that zod and his crew were off on a space exploration mission when krypton exploded.

I think Shannon's Zod will be this version:

Absolutely nothing like the Donner version.

And yes, Superman:Last Son's Zod was based off Donner.

Now that, we can agree on :cwink:

Does this mean that we will have The Phantom Zone too? Or will they come up with a new explanation for how Zod arrives on earth? Or even go the clone route?

How is this movie going to stay grounded in realism again?

About as realistic as a SUPERMAN movie can be.

I think it's more of a case of, 'What if extraordinary beings lived in our world?'.

last time we saw Zod was 30 years ago, im 24 and im sure a lot of the younger crowd only knows him by what we've seen in smallville. I dont even like those old movies so i dont mind seeing Zod done again. Batman Begins had pretty lame villains being announced but the movie turned out great. Zod seems a lot better than the scarecrow or ras.

While I am not pleased they are using Zod again, that doesn't mean he will be the same kind of bad guy. I mean in Superman 2, Superman doesn't even meet Zod until the end of the movie.

Then again Smallville did a whole season of Clark and Zod interaction. It seems far too safe right now.

That version of Zod is fine with me

And on Last Son: It was but it still rocked :D

Excellent casting. Anxious to find out who's gonna be Ursa...

I like how he has a similar jawline to Cavill. Makes it so the Kryptonians all have a similar look.

I approve of this casting choice. 10x.

I think it'll be grounded in "realism" as much as alot of the superhero movies are

I think it'll explore what would happen if superheroes/superpowers showed up. Like I think the X-Men series is actually a very realistic look at what would happen if superpowers exist and the Fantastic Four movies (as meh/bad as they were) showed what would happen if superheroes had public identities.

Yeah, read that one... probably not the best example, since the storyline is nothing like ANYTHING I would like to see in the movie, and it was actually used to integrate Non and Ursa into the comics...

even though zod was created in the 60's, I like that shannon looks like the type of guy they'd draw as a villain in the 40's.

It was still a fantastic story

my guess is by realism he meant the way the government and the people would react to seeing a flying man and aliens. im sure he also just wanted to clarify that he wouldnt stylize the crap out of it like 300 with all green screens.

Agreed, I think this will follow Secret Origins in the sense that we'll get the chance to see the public fear, rather than readily accept Superman. In the Donner films, it was pretty instantaneous lol, he showed up, and everybody was pretty much cool with it.

The "realism" if we want to call it that, is going to come in the reaction from the common people, who in reality, would ***** their pants if somebody like Clark wound up in their city.

a good movie is a good movie. i agree

but it doesnt change the fact that they not using a new villain like the ''brain'' guy

I just hope we get to see a lot of Krypton in this movie, Zod being a General there, etc.
