I think what alot of us are fearing is that this could be the last superman film for a long time if things arent resolved with the families. It should get resolved, but there are no guarantees.
I've been saying no to zod and yes to Brainiac since 06, so its nothing new for me.

Yea it's possible. But unlikely. I'm sure they will settle. Because then if there are sequels (which that is a much higher possibility) then you've got very little for the sequels.

I think Zod works in the sense that he's a guy that Superman is actually thinking of as a kindred spirit, someone else that's in his boat, only he turns out to be an *******, and it tears him up that he actually has to take down one of his own who could have possibly been like a family figure, gave him some guidance or insight on Krypton.

I like this

Solidus approved. :cwink:

i hope they make him say the infamous line...."KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!!"

I demand to see Brainiac in the sequel.

Seriously, I've been waiting for-****ing-ever to see my favorite Superman villain :csad:.

Another huge casting release on a Sunday.

I think having academy award nominee Michael Shannon as a part of your cast is always good.

But he was supposed to be Lex!

Anyway, can't really knock it until I know more and have seen it.

The good thing about having Zod in the movie is you can have the super-fight that everyone is begging for.

The bad thing is that Zod has been been done before.

Who knows...if Shannon can do for Zod, what Ledger did for the Joker, this could be a brilliant move...we'll have to see.

I'll definitely keep an open mind, but to be honest, my first reaction wasn't too good. we shall see.

Good casting. If they delve into Zod's character the way the comic books have in the last two years, this could be good.

He could turn up in the Krypton sequences for all I know, just for some 5 minutes.

That's a nice thought :)

may i ask why so? why do you dislike him as a villain in general? have you read all the comic and seen the tv Zods?

what, specifically about Zod, is it that you don't like? because i think he's actually a great villain. he comes from Krypton so he knows the culture, the history, the MILITARY TACTICS, the technology, the advanced way of thinking and especially HIS PARENTS......combine that with Superman's powers and you have a formidable villain for Superman to face for his first great challenge.

Which is all great... If you WANT the movie to focus on kryptonian culture, history, military tactics, technology, advanced way of thinking and his birth parents... which personally, I didn't.

I guess I don't dislike him as a character in general. He is a nasty peice of work and i've seen some interesting looks into how he's become that...

I've just never really much enjoyed storylines involving him.

If it's any consolation, maybe in the sequel we can get Pink as Livewire.

And one thing that can be done this time is a more brutal fight. The original Superman II fight was scripted to be much more brutal than it turned out, with more punching and destruction. My only guess is the Salkinds were being cheap, as it was the reason they fired Donner and cut out Brando in the first place.

actually...i think Shannon's too young for Zod. isn't he supposed to be in his 50's or something? he also has the wrong type of hair and he's not handsome enough. he's also wayyyy out of shape! look at them calves!!!

for those of you who didn't get it, i'm parodying all the Amy Adams complaints

I'm angry that they did not get an actual Kryptonian to play him, and not some American actor. American's can't play a Kryptonian, they are not from the same region! :woot::oldrazz::cwink:

But everyone knows how hard it is to find Kryptonians that can act these days. They had to improvise.:oldrazz:

Kryptonian Mythology will be a huge part of this film.

I always told you this wouldn't focus on romance, and I'm still betting Lois' role will be minor and supporting.

The reports of Ursa being the female lead could likely be true now.

This is all great news.

Shannon's calves>>>Amy Adams' calves

IMO of course

haha...i'm guessing because you want to see less Amy Adams as Lois?? :woot:

Nothing to do with her as Lois. I just prefer to see Lois in the background this time around.

Her role has been overinflated since the 90s in an attempt to make Superman more romance-oriented, as opposed to an action hero.

This film sounds like it has the makings to set things right.

I knew Nolan/Goyer would approach Superman like this. :)

Shannon's too pale and his lips are too thin......he looks like Cynthia Nixon, for Pete's sake!
