i think shannon would of made a better lex as in my mind he looks nothing like zod to me.

Zod doesn't have a specific look. He's had a few different looks over the years.

Or maybe you can't just nail down a certain 'type' for all film production crews. This one ranged from early-20's to 40's.

...Relax, I was talking about the people I've spoken to. Maybe I wasn't specific enough in my original post or something.

Either way, it's not a stretch to say people in my age group or there about aren't nearly as familiar with the the orginal Superman movies (specifically Zod and his story) as Star Wars and Indy.

Shannon was the **** on Boardwalk Empire. He was both a scary and a broken character... all at the same time. He pulled it off brilliantly. I expect his Zod to be a complex character and have more motivation than having his jailers son kneel before him

Probably. The same could be done with Lex too. Is it a bit more obvious way to go? Ya. It does create for an added dramatic appeal though I guess.

im reading the war of the supermen, and i must say if we see Michael Shannon in that type of protrayal, its gonna kick ass. Reading that has got me so hyped right now

About Zod and the Kryptonian back story, what if Zod lies to Kal-El and makes him believe that Jor-El was responsible for Krypton's destruction? What if Zod makes Kal-El feel that his father was the villain instead of the hero?

Honestly Zod as most people know is Terrence Stamp. Honestly Zod is a character that is very popular but the comics and tv have actually been pretty much ignoring Zod. How many Zods did we get from the 80's to today? All different looks with various origins. The current one was created by Donner........so its sorta Stamps Zod. Zod is ripe for reinvention because he has no identity. He isn't like Lex where you can physically describe him( bald, Green and Purple suits......armani/powersuit). Is Zod kryptonian or a human being from Russia?

Zod has an identity. He's the Kryptonian general who tried to overthrow the Kryptonian government and take over, and then was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. That describes nearly every version except for the Russian one, real or illusory There's more consistency in his portrayal than in Brainiac's.

The difference though (IMO) is that many of Brainiac's different incarnations have been vastly more interesting than Zod.
