Really blown away by Doc Manhatten, I didn't think he'd look so good. Inever imagined him sounding so young, but it makes sense given that he's perpetually in his 20's. It'll be all th emore chilling if he's becoming disconnected from humanity yet still sounds human, other than the kind of monotonous robot kind of voice I gave him when reading the book, well, at points anyway. The 'Leave me alone!' bit was my fav from the trailer, brilliant.
I don't mind so much if they have set it up that there was a 'Watchmen' group after the Minutemen and the failed 'Crimebusters', maybe they are making out that the WM group came together just before, or because of, the riots. Actually scratch that, if Ozy is in there they would have to have been a little earlier formed than the riots, sound like a more long term team anyway. Regardless, it's an understandable adjustment for the general audience and won't make much of a difference to the story.
I can understand the squid being taken out too, for the longest time i wanted it in, but i am now thinking it might be a good move. For it to sit right alongside the realism of the story i needed the whole backstory of the missing writers and artists, as well as Veidt's exposition/explanation of the cloned brain , psychic emanations etc. something that may have been a bit much to take it, right at the end, in this scaled down adaption, and there may not have been enough time for the island, missing persons arc to sit in there right.
