So yeah I don't like Rorshachs voice. He needed to sound just like The Question in JLU not like a Christian Bale Batman ripoff. Sorry if it has been said but that bothers me a great deal. Im very excited for this movie and can't wait to see it. Just that voice doesnt do it for me.

:facepalm

No problem

It fits great, imo (delivery was perfect, too). You really get the sense that he was expecting it.

Agreed; I just can't wait to see the entire scene with Nat Kole King singing in the background from the Nostalgia commerical. :woot:

Is there a problem with my inquiry? I think thats how he should sound. You know considering he was originally supposed to be The Question.

i pictured it to be gravely like it is in the movie, hence that strange font for the speech bubbles in the novel...

that and Spektre says it is a creepy sounding voice

I was reading the lyrics to "Take a Bow" by Muse (the second song in the trailer for the VERY uninformed) and noticed they fit the story pretty well (in my opinion):

Corrupt, you corrupt,
and Bring corruption to all that you touch.

Hold, you’ll behold,
And be holden for all that you’ve done.

Spell, cast a spell,
Cast a spell on the country you run.

And risk, you will risk,
You will risk all their lives and their souls.

And burn, you will burn,
You will burn in hell, yeah you’ll burn in hell.
You’ll burn in hell, yeah you’ll burn in hell for your sins.

Ooohhh.
Our freedom's consuming itself,
What we've become is contrary to what we want
Take a bow.

Death, you bring death and destruction to all that you touch.

Pay, you must pay
You must pay for your crimes against the earth.

Hex, feed the hex
Feed the hex on the country you run

And Beg, you will beg
You will beg for their lives and their souls.

Yeah,
Burn, you will burn,
You will burn in hell, yeah you’ll burn in hell,
You’ll burn in hell, yeah you’ll burn in hell,
Burn in hell, yeah you'll burn in hell for your sins.

yeah their songs fit amazingly well for something like Watchmen

i think one in particular "Apocalypse Please" especially for Viedt

Declare this an emergency
Come on and spread a sense of urgency
And pull us through it all
And pull us through it all

And this is the end, the end
This is the end
Of the World

And it's time we saw a miracle
Come on it's time for something biblical
To pull us through it all
And pull us through it all

And this is the end, the end
This is the end
Of the World

Proclaim eternal victory
Come on and change the course of history
And pull us through it all
And pull us through it all

And this is the end, the end
This is the end
Of the world

there is new in and out of how he should sound its not an audio book Alan Moore's voice when reading it sounded pretty similar to how he should sound imo

Okay, having just watched the trailer, I feel a little bit better about this movie, although I still have reservations. Still the official trailer I thought was better than the teaser trailer from awhile back.

What immediately stands out is that Synder has got the look of both Doc Manhattan and Rorschach down pat, and both of actors sound terrific. Jackie Earle Haley's Rorschach voice does indeed sounds better than Christen Bale's Batman voice, and this is coming from a fan of both Nolan Batman movies. And Billy Crudup has that nice degree of detachment in his voice and yet it doesn't come off as overdone. And Patrick Wilson as Dan Dreiberg when he's not in his Night Owl costume looks as Dan should--a frumpy, slightly paunchy middle aged nerd with thining hair. Likewise, some of the visuals appear to be lifted straight from the graphic novel, which shows that, at least in the visual department, Synder certainly studied the source material on that end.

However, there's still quite a bid of red flags. Those Vietnam flashbacks still looks incredibly fake and obviously shot on a soundstage in front of green screen. I mean, if they can get shots of "New York" and "Antarctica" which clearly are outside and look "on location," could the filmmakers at the very least film something along the same lines as "Vietnam?" Heck, if the film We Were Soldiers can make California foothills look like Nam, then how hard can it be?

Secondly, for a film based on a comic book that's about examining on what impact superheroes would have if they actually existed in the real world, why the hell are guys like Rorscarch, Nite Owl, and Silk Spectre moving around like they're Jet Li in some Hong Kong Wire-Fu flick? Come on, Synder! Just because they're "superheroes" doesn't mean they have "superpowers." And just because you can use slow motion shots and wire work doesn't mean you have to use it for ALL of the "Watchmen."

And I'm sorry, but Matthew Goode as Ozymandias and especially Malin Akerman as Laurie are clearly phoning in their performances. Gugino just looks positively bored in all the clips she's in and doesn't seem to have any emotional range whatsoever. Clearly, if Watchman does get less than receptive views, it's going to be criticized on the things which usually stand out regardless of how visually appealing the movie is--a script and the actor's performances.

phoning in performances we haven't even seen 30 seconds of? Matthew Goode delivers ONE line, and in saying that line, he sounds rather intent and serious. Of Carla Gugino, all we've seen is behind the scenes footage, a brief scene of her and Laurie that doesn't say anything about her performance, and loads of pictures of her just being the babe she is in photos both for the film's publicity and for her character's publicity in the film itself.

phenomenal trailer. this movie cant come out soon enough.

anybody have it in .avi?

All right, to be fair, I can let go of the Matthew Goode criticism since it was one line of dialogue. But as for Carla Gugino, I'm sorry, but thanks to the trailer, we now have two instances of her delivering lines and both times in two different scenes they came off as being incredibly flat and as though she were reading cue cards. So far, it's looking like she's going to be one of the weaker performances a la Katie Holmes in Batman Begins.

LMAO! She said what? 11 words... and it's Malin Akerman, if you're going to criticize someone you should at least get their name right. :o

Gugino is playing Ozymandias?! For real!? :wow:

Come on? How do you expect me to remember the actress' real name with a body like that? :p

And yeah, compared to some of the other actors in that trailer, her delivery was weak compared to the other actors given what we saw in those that sparse two minutes.

Yup. It's amazing what cosmetic surgery is capable of these days. :woot:

yea, i was gonna say..

Stillanerd, were you criticizing Malin Akerman's performance, mistaking her for Carla Gugino, or were you really criticizing Carla Gugino?

because if you are, in the Video Journals, the commentary track makes the scenes she's in very hard to hear her speak. So to judge her performance based on that is weak.

If you're criticizing Malin Akerman, i'm gonna have to disagree with you. The line she says about Jon thinking that there's gonna be nuclear war, looks to be from a casual scene when she's with Dan. I'd go so far as to say it's from Chapter 1 when Laurie's eating dinner with Dan. But i've hear and seen nothing that tells me she's going to be a weak part of the film.

No, I was criticizing Malin Akerman's performance and I put the wrong name in, considering how they're both listed in the casting as "Silk Spectre" and just read it too quick. Honest mistake. (Plus, as I mentioned before, perhaps it was because she looked so hot that I was momentarily...umm, distracted.)

Oh, I know which scenes are going on. I'm just saying she said that line about how "Jon thinks there's going to be a nuclear war" with the same degree as she did when asking Jon to help the Earth "for me." To me, it showed a real lack of emotional range given that those who have read Watchmen know the context of those scenes. But hey, that's just my opinion anyway.

To me, those lines were delivered correctly, let's wait 'til we see enough to make an actual call on how well she's done in the role :cwink:

After all, the context of the line is important to the delivery, and we don't have the whole scenes to view yet.

I don't think Rorschach's voice sounds BETTER than Bale's, but there's definitely more than a hint of Bale in there. Not a bad thing at all, of course.
