I wouldn't call them scalpers in this case. We're not talking about individuals using bots to pre-order the latest high-end GPUs at Micro Center, or to buy the majority of tickets of Black Sabbath's upcoming farewell tour.

Was this actually committed by the organized crime? Probably. I mean, surely it's an inside job... How else would have they known a specific truck was carrying close to 3k Switch 2 units?

Nintendo knows the serial numbers of all the stolen units and they will be bricked once they're being activated online. The innocent people being scammed into buying those stolen units at a fair price thinking it's a "second-hand" unit from marketplace will be punished. Good luck to Nintendo's customer service to deal with all of that I suppose.
