Hence why I said there was a lot of other factors. The Xbone had a lot of things against it as well with a higher price tag and a toxic stigma due to previous marketing. So, no, I don't think BC would have mattered much even then.
Is there a concrete way to tell? Well, maybe not, but there's a lot of things to look at that you and infer it from. For instance, most games have sales that are front-loaded for the first month or so and then disappear from the charts. There's rarely times when you see older games on the charts outside a few key exceptions here and there such as Minecraft or a previous year's COD when a new COD is getting close.
The big telling sign will be to see what happens when the update comes. If Xbox One's sales soar and the sales of older 360 titles make the charts I can say that I might be wrong, but I highly doubt it will happen.
