I just realized the the lyrics of Hoist the Colours could be about the age of piracy:
The king and his men-Pirate Lords
stole the queen from her bed-Calypso
and bound her in her Bones.-traping Calypso
The seas be ours-The seas belong to the Pirates
and by the powers-the power the Pirate Lords now hold
where we will we'll roam.-Pirates can go wherever/do whatever
Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never say we die.
Some men have died-Some pirates died
and some are alive-Some still live
and others sail on the sea-Things go on normally for pirates
with the keys to the cage...-Key to the DMC, or possibly Beckett/EITC
and the Devil to pay-Davy Jones
we lay to Fiddler's Green!-Tortuga, or some familiar port
The bell has been raised
from it's watery grave...
Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?
We are a call to all,-Brethren are summoned to the Cove
pay head the squall-Beware of the coming storm (EITC invasion/end of Piracy)
and turn your sail toward home!-Sail to Shipwreck Cove
Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never say we die.
Anyone care to give their ideas on a meaning in the lyrics?
