I have to say this price cut is kind of surprising. I was expecting them to phase in a 1 TB PS4 model, and discount the 500 GB model. But this is rather sudden.

I guess they realize Microsoft has a really strong hand this holiday season between Halo and backwards compatibility.

I've had that remote pre-ordered for a while now. Amazon messaged me today confirming the release date. Can't wait to have a dedicated media remote so I can stop killing my game controller all the time.

I fully expect a 1TB version to be revealed in the next month or two. It exists and they have bundles for it overseas, so I doubt they will keep those out of NA for long, especially with the hottest consumer time of the year coming up.

Again we are getting it next month

hey guys I am getting that PS4 Uncharted collection bundle and I know that the game stop is selling it with a disc for the game inside but I heard that only GS is doing that and other stores are only including a code for the download of the game. is there anyway to confirm this? before you ask I sold my old PS4 to a buddy who wanted one but did not wanna pay over 300 bucks for a used one, so he gets a good deal on a PS4 and I get a newer model with a cool game, win win.

yes, I believe only GS is doing the physical disc thing. but I'd call them 1st to confirm it.

call who GS? I know they are doing the disc thing I was curious if other stores may offer the same type of bundle setup?

Sorry, I've been out of the loop for the past week, was it announced somewhere?

It was announced last month as a LE CoD console. It'll be the first model released here and comes out next month. A link and pic of the new price drop mentions it on the last page

So, I'm a pretty passive gamer; NHL/Woods/Arkham/GTA. My PS3 is a 60GB from 2007, and haven't had a need except for Batman to renew since they came out.

But, I've come around to finally buying, now with the decreased price and the Uncharted bundle (always wanted but never played them) with Arkham Knight on the side but now that I see 1TB are coming should I wait more since I've waited this long or not? Plus, I really want Battlefront... I've wanted a great SW game since SOTE came out on my N64.

How important is storage, are game's 'downloaded' data pretty large now? I do know you can easily swap out the HD like m MBP but should I just hold off? Also, I'm not a multiplayer guy... when I do buy, I don't need a paid PS account right?

I noticed back reading, you still can't change a PS4 background? PS3 has been able to do that since like day 1, off of USB/Web/etc.

No you should not hold off. One can easily upgrade to a 1tb in the future and the difference as of now will be $80 (you get Black Ops 3 and a special skinned PS4 with it though). 1tb is overkill for most people and the ones that would really benefit from that are more hardcore gamers which from your post, doesn't seem to be you. If you had a PS3 and never felt the need to upgrade from a 60gb than 500gb is more than enough for you.

As for game size, they range but on the higher level, they are 40-50gb, and that doesn't include any patches which can add 5-10gb more. If you don't play a lot of game, its fairly easy to just delete and reinstall things as you need. Its rather fast too, except if you buy digitally as download speeds will vary. Do note that all disc games require a full install so you wont be saving space going that route. You do benefit from speed though as you can jump into a game within 2 minutes of popping the disc in as the installations occur in the background

Yes PS Plus is now a requirement for online multiplayer. Its $50 a year but always seems to be on sale somewhere for $40. Just be on the look out. With BF coming soon, its likely to be $30 as that's been the price the last couple of years

You can change the PS4 background. You can get themes off the PS store to do that. The discussion was about custom backgrounds. You cant just use any picture you want to, unfortunately.

Hope this all helps.

I meant to call your local GS to make sure they are still doing the physical disc offer before you go down and buy the bundle.

and as far as I know, I think GS is the only retailer doing that. everyone else is digital.

I'm pretty sure the Uncharted thing is true. Seems there's a lot of Uncharted Collection codes floating around out there recently

pretty much agree with what Havok said.

with the PS4, there's really no need to wait for a 1TB model, since it's fairly easy and straightforward to upgrade the hdd yourself later on if/when you need it.

and since you are a passive gamer, you may never need to go beyond 500GB.

Good show Sony. I may consider getting you for my brother after all. I still have a ways to go before I can get him one.

so you're still leaning towards the PS4?

after spending more time with both consoles, I still give the PS4 the edge over the X1.

Thanks, Havoc83 and X Knight. Today is my birthday and Im going to treat myself finally. Those Uncharted bundles should still be around after this past weekend right?

I used to work at Best Buy/Target and will not give them my money, I'll hit up a Gamestop this week. I shouldn't bother trading in anything, right? My PS3 still works and I have 10-12 games... figured I won't get much for them anyways. I don't fully see the need of backwards compatibility (so, I'm cool the 4 doesn't have it) considering most usually keep heir systems. It's nice to see my gaming legacy shelf; NES, N64, Xbox, PS3.

You're welcome and Happy Birthday!! :woot:

You can't go wrong with a PS4. Hope you can snag an Uncharted Bundle.

And I would hold on to your PS3. I kind of regret selling mine. :(

Do you want to share PSN IDs? I can PM you with mine if you'd like to add me to your friends list.

Sounds good, I'm Antsman3441. Sadly won't do any good until I snag the 4. PSNetwork hasn't logged in me for many months. Did they every figure out that issue for 3's?

ok then. well let me know when you get a PS4.

but I'm not sure what issue you are referring too? you are having a hard time logging into your PS3?

Yeah, it sits on 'logging in' for many minutes and then says lost connection. Web works more than fine on the PS3 so it isn't the 'router'/etc. Plus, I can still 'download' a 3GB file in under 20 minutes on my MBP [not as same time mind you, haha].

I remember a while ago that being an issue for everyone on a 3 but never looked into it since I never do anything but some NHL online.

hmmmm.........

well, since I don't have a PS3, I really can't help you with that issue. maybe someone here who does own a PS3 can better address that.

but, I hope you don't have that problem when you get a PS4.

Also, is Battlefront purely online like Destiny? Or, will I have an offline/campaign mode to play...?
